An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either side are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Affixed to the top of the armoire on the inside is an old bill of lading from Lawsonia Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia, noting it's sale of an"Exist. "Everwear" vintage wardrobe steamer trunk Nice
I have a very nice vintage steamer trunk wardrobe. This has been used so there are a few things that would need fixed if it were ti be made perfect. I tried to take as many pics as possible to show you the trunk. It is beautiful and will make a great addition to your home or collection. I cannot locate keys. The handle is missing on the bottom and is attached to just one side in top. The other side will pull out and is not attached. Some minor water damage but nothing that destroys the integrity or durability. The bottom of trunk shows some wear from travel. Dark green and black with name in white lettering. Vintage Japanese Paper Dolls& Doll Set This is a doll set given to me by a relative in the early seventies when she lived in Japan. It includes two female Japanese dolls wearing kimonos. A pink futon with pillow and paper doll book. The dolls are approx. 7 1/2 inches tall, are slightly dirty on their feet and hands but otherwise in excellent condition. They are not plush but made of material more solid to the touch. The pink futon has no tears and is stain-free. The pillow was once attached but is now separate. The paper doll book is full of wonderful Japanese clothes from the era, including both kimonos and fashion of the day. Other paper items are hats, Japanese wigs, a doll and flower baskets. I played with this item as a child, so the paper clothes and 2 paper females were cut out of the book. The previous owner of this trunk would have been 105 this year) It is a really cool looking trunk with the 5 drawers. The old hangars, the briefcase like drawer that slides in under the clothes, and what looks to be an ironing board that has paper covering it(we did not take it out- we left it undisturbed) We do not have keys, the big lock on the front was popped but looks to be okay. There is a sticker or two that say Belber(which is how we knew that much about it) We believe this is all original and it is in pretty good shape- it does have marks and wear due to use and age but it seems to be a very solid piece and would be awesome restored. It is solid wood and uses half-blind dove tail joints. Measurements: Overall: 37 inches wide. 20 inches deep and 56 ¾ inches high. Knobs: 1 1/8 inches deep/ Drawers: 18 inches wide. 9 ¾ inches high-all except top drawer which is 6 ¾ inches high. Door: 15 ¾ inches wide and the inside is 19 inches deep and 15 ½ inches wide. Here we go there is so much to say about this vintage Wheary Cushion Top Wardrobe which is fully fitted with key and in amazing condition for its age. The trunk is a dark green with beautiful hardware. I have included lots of photos so you can fully appreciate. It stands approx. 42" tall and 22" wide and 10" deep on each side. It has 5 drawers(1) 4" cushioned with side pockets. 3) 7" lined in Wheary fabric with ties and a large bottom drawer line in Wheary fabric that is 12" The fabric color is a light pink in the classic Wheary design with W's. The wardrobe side is lined in fabric with a fabric curtain that snaps back and has the original hangers and pant hangers. There is also a secret compartment on the bottom of the wardrobe. The fabric while aged is all there in all parts of the interior with no tears. ... moreRather than traditional handles the drawers have stylized clear"lucite" pulls. The exterior has beautiful decorative hardware and the leather strap is in great condition. The lock is spring loaded and comes with the original key. Good luck bidding on this fantastic piece. THIS IS FOR LOCAL PICKUP ONLY A pre-owned cedar wardrobe tagged inside with a metallic label from Lakeside Craft Shops. Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It measures 35" wide x 75" tall x 25" deep. It is easily be taken apart for moving and I have done that more than a few times. I used it as a closet. A computer stand and for storing out-of-season bedding. It has been painted the color it is now which is Colonial Pear. When I used it as a computer stand, holes were drilled into the back to accommodate wiring. It would make a nice TV stand. The condition is mostly very good except that when breaking it down this last time, the floor of the closet spit along the grain lines in two places. It still fits together tightly because of the way it split. The door needs a catch. It has served me well over the years since I purchased it at Goodwill ... moremany years ago. Untitled Document RARE Vintage Blue with Yellow Stripe Wardrobe Steamer Trunk For auction. A truly stunning piece. This vintage trunk is unlike any we have ever seen! Deep royal blue with a striking yellow stripe and black leather accents. The interior is a pale green with white accents, a very stunning pattern by itself. Includes 5 drawers, 2 types of wooden hangers which are on an extendable rod, and a travel case. The top of the wardrobe opens for ease of access. The side says"Kenworthy, Glenside, PA. It measures 42" length x 22" width x 23" height. It weighs approximately 85lbs. It opens as you see in the pictures and when fully open measures 45" across. As far as condition issues. I have photographed what I have seen. Two of the rollerballs on the bottom have pushed through but still work and do not affect its ... moreability to stand upright. There is also another tear on the bottom(see picture) The bottom drawers metal accent has come loose, but could be fixed. There are a few tears on the bottom drawer and some age stains throughout the trunk(see pictures) There is no key for the lock however it does close, but must be reopened with a screwdriver. I'm sure it could be repaired at a locksmith if need be. That said. This piece is absolutely one of a kind. The colors, design, and uniqueness cannot be matched. See photos for receipt. It was purchased from Mintz& Mintz Furniture in New Orleans who closed their doors in January 1990. This wonderful piece has two wardrobes with hanging bars. One on either side, four deep drawers with dovetail, and a hat box with a mirror in the center. The entire piece is covered in various exotic veneers with fine attention to design and detail. Decorative trims and moldings accent the edges adding to the unique quality of this piece and helping it to stand out amongst its peers as a prize example of this formerly popular style of furnishing. The Chifferobe has been stripped of its finish down to the original wood and the door/drawer ... morehardware is missing. There is some peeling of the wood on the back of the piece. This is an awesome rustic vintage Gibraltarized Hartmann Cushion Top Wardrobe Trunk! It would make a great addition to your house: You can use it for storage. Because the company went out of business this trunk would not be any older than 1965. Wonderful antique wardrobe trunk found at an auction. The trunk has the manufacters name plate P Becker& Co. Makers Chicago. I could not find much history on this just that around 1930 they went from making trunks and suitecases to table tennis. Anyway this trunk is very heavy. It is in pretty good condition. It does need some cleaning up which was going to be my project but I need to find my garage before winter. The trunk is 43" tall and 21x24" on top. It opens sideways. Sturdy piece of furniture and is made of real wood, but I do not know the type of wood was used. It has a great"Shabby Chic" look with cute decorative detailing accents of flower and baby animals. I would also like to note that the left side of inside door panel has a crack from top to bottom of door panel. Please see picture of details. Vintage Trunk Antique Humpback Steamer Storage Wardrobe Chest Reptile Texture
Up for sale is this vintage or antique early 20th century humpback trunk. The front. Back and top have metal panels with a reptile skin texture. The side metal panels are smooth with a blue tint. The humpback top has wood banding. There is metal banding on the edges. It has metal one directional wheels on the bottom. There is extensive patina on the metal and wear on the wood finish. Part of the metal lid strip is missing on the front corner, and the leather handles are missing. It has 2 broken hinges and the inside shows use wear as in soiling, filth, staining. The lid on the insert is detached but is included with the trunk. It has a strong smell of moth balls. The lock does not latch and we do not have the key. However, the other 2 latches do function. This trunk measures approximately 30 inches long by 16 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches ... moretall. This trunk is being offered"as is" with no warranties and no returns.
