You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? There is leather and metal construction incorporated into this little trunk. The leather handle is broken and the leather straps are gone with just some of their remnants being in place. The information below gives you information about the company and vintage era about this ... morecedar chest. Cedar Chest by Ed. Roos Co. The Ed. Roos Co. manufactured quality cedar chests from about 1916 to 1951. Most of those years they were located in Forest Park. IL. They were very successful for a time and made a large quantity of cedar chests. Because of that they are not particularly scarce. They are, however, of very good quality and were manufactured in quite a few styles. The style and condition are the determining factors in value. The Art Deco"waterfall" style. It is. However, in better condition and would be worth about $200-$250. The"Roos Manufacturing Co. of Chicago was established in 1871 by Edward Roos(born in Germany in December 1848) Died in 1906. He had several children including Otto(born 1877) and Edward(born 1880) Otto took over the Roos Manufacturing Company when his father died in 1906. They did manufacture cedar chests, but it is unclear when they started. The business began making curtain rods and later wooden boxes. They used a rooster in several variations in some of their logos. The"Ed Roos Company of Forest Park" started in Chicago as the Roos Cedar Chest Company in 1916. And also manufactured cedar chests, but it is a different company. They used a tree(presumably a cedar tree) in a circle as their logo. There are also other logos without the tree, and one with a heart for their"Sweetheart" chests. They also used a variety of paper and cardboard labels. It was started by Otto's brother. Edward. The company moved to Forest Park, IL in 1918 and changed its name to the Ed Roos Company of Forest Park In the 1920 federal census. Otto Roos is listed as President of a wooden wares business. So it is clear that the original Roos Manufacturing Company was still at work in 1920, after Ed Roos opened up shop in 1918 in Forest Park. I have found no information yet that says whether the original company

Vintage Lane Cedar Hope Chest Trunk, Needs TLC, Local Pick-Up NW Georgia
Appearances aside. This is still a great cedar hope chest by Lane. I believe it is from the 1940's. It measures 46" x 18" x 21"high. The pictures tell the story. But I will point out the issues. The Bad: Lock is missing. Veneer is scratched and chipped away in spots. The inside shelf is broken. One corner has separated and was badly repaired. The Good: It smells amazing. The back is pretty perfect. It's got great bones. The inside shelf has most of the working parts to get started on that repair. It will be a wonderful piece when it is restored to its former glory. The trunk is monogrammed with the initials"E.W.J. I was unable to locate a manufacturer name or logo. The trunk is in"usable" condition. But it has seen better days- PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PHOTOS! The trunk looks as though it originally had leather side handles. Unsure of the covering. This trunk has a lot going for it. With its flat top. It makes a nice coffee table. Once it gets aired out, it would be extra storage space. It is quite attractive, in a"shabby chic" sort of way. It is quite old, although I don't know where it came from. My mother had it in her attic for as long as I can remember(which is a pretty long time) For the past 8 years, it has been in storage. WE just got it out, but since we have 2 others, we really don't need this one. It is black, with brass fittings/edges, so its quite attractive. Unfortunately we didn't have the key so had to"pick" the lock. It will shut properly, so you can carry it, but won't lock. The leather handles on each end are well worn, but we were able to use them-carefully! to move the thing. Inside, it has a decent lining, which you can see in ... morephoto 6. There are 2 trays, neither one of which is the original, as they don't fit on the edges properly. The first, shown in photos 7 and 8, has 2 compartments and fastens with a couple leather straps with snaps(one is broken) The edges of this drawer are rather crushed(see photos 11 and 12) There is another tray underneath, which has some sort of dried goop, that probably was gooey at one point, as it has been covered with tape. It is an army green color with cream and rooster red and there is a worn travel stickers on the lid. The inside has some paper torn off& it does smell a bit musty. The latches and hinges all work. The leather handles and the rivets are solid and secure. The latches and corner pieces all have a little bit of rust. There is a removable drawer inside of it. Vintage Tree Trunk Sewing Pincushion with Pair of Raccoons
This is a cute bisque porcelain tree trunk pincushion with two raccoons sitting beside it in a patch of flowers. The bottom is marked E-1697. Included are the pins shown including the cute character spider pin. It measures about 1 1/2 inches tall at the tree trunk. 2 3/4 inches long and 1 5/8 inches wide at the base of the tree trunk. The raccoons are about 1 1/4 inches tall. It is in very good condition. The only imperfection I see is on the bottom which may have been during manufacturing. It can not be seen from the top. It is wallpapered on the inside with a drawer and upper compartment along with a clothes hanging bar and 2 hangers. It has 4 vintage travel stickers inside on the drawers. The wood is in good condition and all of the hinges and clasps are still firm and in working order. A couple brads are missing as I have shown in pictures. It comes with a key but the lock needs some professional adjusting and does not work as is. There is some staining behind the bottom drawer of possible wood finishing, the wallpaper otherwise is in excellent condition. It is in overall very good condition as you can see in pictures. This auction is for the 1962 Barbie ponytail vintage trunk. All clothing. Shoes, and accesseries illustrated. I think it is in very good to excellent condition. 52 years old. All clothing is vintage 1960's except 1Barbie outfit. I paid 58.00 for the garden party dress and shoes quite some years ago and 75.00 for the trunk. Well worth it to me. The nightie night gowns need new elastic. 2 sets of these. Kens tie needs new elastic. The gun has a little damage to it. There are some generic shoes for skipper. Lots of nice clothes for skipper All original Mattel. A couple of items may need washing as they are very old. Most over 50 years old.This is a great collection the end of my Barbie collection. The middle, center attachment does not lock. There is no key. The leather straps are functional. All of the reinforcement edging is there. Fabulous large Louis Vuitton steamer trunk Gorgeous patina. This really has an amazing magical look and feel to it From the estate of Simeon Brooks Chapin. A wealthy well known chicago financier Approx measurements 22" by 22" by 39" There is a rare somewhat intact colored label on the inside of the lid that would appear to date this to 1908 Good condition with one side in poor condition where the canvas has been completely worn away and there is some damage to the wood and white oxidation/ crumbling to the brass.
