As expected for an all original Tourobe of its age there is also some scuffing on the exterior. Inside still looks great and has the original hangers. Three for suits and three for pants, internal straps are complete. The case has two sections, a hanging wardrobe on one side which has a velvet covered pad to protect the suits and fastens with two sets of stud buttons holding the clothes in place. Coming from the late 30’s made exclusively for Sax 5 th Avenue by the Hartmann Luggage Company. Following the days of steamer trunks. What a find! Old steamer trunk. Please examine the photos closely. The trunk is definitely showing its age. leather handles on the side are toast but they are still there. Lock bears the eagle lock co name. It is wood and tin. Lots of tin covers most of the chest and it is adorned with the pattern you see. It has lots of character! 34" x 17.25" x 18" There is rust. There is worn/missing tin etc. I did not attempt to clean etc and have not even carried it by it's handles, I hold the whole thing. The little wheels on the bottom are janky but they work and moved around easy surprisingly. Anyone who has more information on this trunk that I could add would be appreciated. Vintage Steamer Wardrobe Trunk Excelsior Lock Early 1900's Original w/ Hangers
For Sale is a Wonderful Vintage Wardrobe Trunk from the Early 1900's. It is all original. There are 3 drawers on the right hand side to hold folded clothes. The left side is for hanging clothes. Included are 4 original wood hangers. 2 can hold pants plus a top/jacket/shirt/blouse/etc. and 2 are just for tops/shirts/dresses etc. There is also an adjustable bar that helps hold in the hanging clothes. Everything is original from the floral interior to the hardware and two leather handles. There is no key but keys are still available and can be purchased on the web. The lock is an Excelsior brand which dates the trunk to the early 1900's. Stamped on the lock is"USA. Excelsior Stanford, Conn#5987. The lock was loosened from one side of the trunk to allow it to be opened by a previous owner. It is, however, all there. The latches work ... moreand hold the trunk closed. One is a little hard to open. I sometimes use a screw driver to pop it open. This trunk stands 36 1/2 inches tall. Is 22 inches deep and 14 inches wide. The exterior is a forest green color with black trim on the corners and white pin stripes. The floral interior is green and peach colored. It does show signs of use. There is some staining on the drawers, and the hardware, probably brass plated, has age discoloration and/or oxidation. Kind of gives it character. There are many uses for trunks like this from being a guest room dresser to a coffee table. It could be refurbished or enjoyed as it is. The pictures show what you are bidding on. Vintage Black Metal Covered Steamer Excelsior Trunk
Vintage flat topped metal covered steamer Excelsior trunk. Has been kept inside a smoke and pet free home. Height: 22.5 inches width: 32 inches Depth: 19 inches Would make an excellent restoration project. While the paint is damaged and needs to be redone. There is minimal damage to the metal itself. The drawer lifts out easily. The drawer insert does require some repair. The damage would be easily remedied by re-papering. There is no key for the lock. I have seen keys for this particular Excelsior trunk lock. The code for the key is 5989. The hasps on either side of the lock work well. I have owned this trunk for close to 30 years. It was vintage. Close to antique when I bought it. In all the years I have owned this trunk, I have not seen another one as large as it.

Offering as found this vintage steamer trunk that came over from Italy about 1900. It is well taken care as you can see from the pictures. The top has some water staining and it does need new handles and could use a good cleaning. The original keys and insert are there. It measures 36" long X 21" wide X 25" tall. Rare Hartmann Vintage Stateroom Antique Travel Steamer Trunk Wardrobe Chest
Characteristics of Hartmann We are offering for sale an extremely RARE& UNIQUE fine stateroom steamer trunk. Came from an older Central Pennsylvania estate. Trunk has previous owners initials H L B. Exact age and origin unknown but believe to be from the early 1900s. 1877: Hartmann Inc. was founded in Milwaukee. Wisconsin by Bavarian Trunk maker, Joseph S. Hartmann. 1905: Mr. Hartmann had a vision to build"luggage so fine it will stand as a symbol of excellence. Because of his vision. The company grew rapidly and moved to larger facilities in Racine, Wisconsin. This trunk has early Hartmann trademark cloverleaf hardware. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. This may be the only one is existence. VERY RARE Quality constructed. Trunk interior is fitted with American golden oak and cast brass ornate pulls with drop front hat box ... morearea that can be used as a desk. Exterior is fitted with rose and silver colored cloverleaf hardware(corners are cast iron and the rest of the hardware is nickel plated brass? which I believe the cloverleaf hardware was characteristic of early Hartmann. Canvas appears to have been a deep mahogany that has darkened over the years from the smoke of coal fired trains and ocean liners. Nice shaped edging of wild boar hide(pig skin) and fine brass tacking. The skin from a boar was tougher and thicker than other animals. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. The latch is marked Everwear TTC3 and Corbin made in USA. Stately Travel Chest Wardrobe Trunk These early trunks are very rare and hard to find and are as good as. This is a beautiful vintage steamer trunk by Bassett. In great condition. Dimensions are approximately 20x23x39. Outside handles are intact. Minor scuffs on exterior. Interior is a gorgeous blue with original wooden clothes hangers. Thin suitcase attached at bottom for smaller items. Set of four drawers, one partitioned inside. Bottom drawer features a snap-in item that we believe is for potpourri, to keep the trunk smelling fresh(very cool addition that we haven't seen before) Metal bar slides up to prevent drawers from opening in transport. Smoke-free home. Picture shows masking tape marks that previous owner used to keep the outside lock from closing and locking. The tape and residue has since been removed. It has all the original hangers. Drawers, compartments and hardware, smells clean too, not musty! The latch works perfectly, but the trunk does not lock. The exterior is in great shape too. It's a smaller case. It measures 19 3/4" x 17 1/4" 9 1/2" and it weighs 13 pounds. It's marked on the plaque on top"Neverbreak Trunks Manufactured by L. Goldsmith& Son, Newark NJ" It's also marked on the lock. There is no key included but the clasps work well to open& close the trunk. The locking mechanism does not work. The interior appears to have a newer lining in it; I don't know exactly how old the trunk is but I believe it to be from the early 1900's. The outside shows wear consistent with age& usage. The leather strap/handle has some wear& cracking. The metal parts(like the clasps etc. display ... moretarnish. There are spots of wear throughout the trunk& sporadic areas of damage. Here is an adorable miniature steamer trunk from the Bassett company. It opens and closes with two working side latches and one center latch. Measures 10" long by 6" wide by 6.5" tall. There is no key and the side leather handles are gone. Which is very common for these old trunks. Interior paper is intact but torn on the inside of the lid. There is wood underneath the paper. Which is edged in Leather, with a Lovely Original Leather Handleto the Top, and Two Leather Strap Holders to the Sides and One to the Front. The Trunk has retained many of the Original Travel Labels which Pertain to London and Paris and range in Dates from 1910 to 1930. Inside is the Owners Telegram dating from 1910. In French, Froid Malade Serais Reconnaissante Voir Duret' or, I have Man Flu! This is a Good Tall Steamer trunk. And would make for a perfect Chest for Storage, a Coffee Table. VINTAGE Antique Wardrobe STEAMER CHEST TRUNK National Vulcanized Fibre co.
Here is an antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. The sides are flat so this could be used as an interesting coffee table. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Sarasota was for many years the winter home of Ringling Brothers ... moreCircus and Barnum and Bailey Circus and now has an excellent Circus Museum and the Ringling Art Museum(formerly the Ringling residence) The man I bought the trunk from said it had belonged to a circus performer. I did a little research but was not able to get any more information than that. So not only can you buy a very cool old trunk but you can have a mystery included for free! This is a fun piece of Americana and of special interest to Circus fans everywhere! I don't know how much this weighs. Probably 70-100 pounds I would guess.
