You are greeted with the fresh scent of natural cedar as a shelf rises up and away for easy access to the chest below. Based on the serial number. The manufacture date was April 21, 1954. I received the chest in the early-to-mid 70s and had it professionally refinished with a walnut stain in 1979. Some of the grain is slightly raised on the front(as seen in the picture) Several pictures were taken under different lighting conditions. There are a few very minor scratches. But overall it is in very good condition. IMPORTANT: As per the requirements of the Consumer Products Safety Commission. This chest has the original finish. The detail that went into crafting this chest is astonishing. Vintage Cedar Chest of Drawers - 4 Drawer Sewing Box Craft Storage Trinket Box
This is a very attractive vintage four drawer chest of drawers. The drawers are tongue and grove. It can be used as a sewing box. For craft storage, or as a trinket box. This chest has a nice aged appearance. It does have a broken piece on the side that has been repaired. See photo#4) The doors close snugly. The latch to the doors does not go down into the catch. The side panels of chest have expanded and moved. See 1st photo of drawer shelves, some are not sitting all the way into their groove. Does not effect drawer movement. These shelves are still sturdy. Beautiful Large Vintage Cedar Bottom Locking Hope Blanket Chest Brass Hardware
A beautiful and heavy vintage cedar-bottomed hope chest/ blanket chest. This chest is all original and is in excellent condition. Purchased sometime in the 1970’s. The dimensions are 37.25” long x 21.25” wide by 18” high. It has the thick. Original leather stitched carry handles and brass corner decorations to protect the edges. It comes with the two original interior divider shelves that can slide from side to side inside the chest(shown) It was kept in my mother’s library side room and was used to store items for safekeeping, so it was rarely opened. The lock latches perfectly and works as it should. It comes with two original keys. My mother always called it her"cedar lined chest" when we talked about it, and she kept her antique quilts and antique dolls in it, but after looking inside, I am not 100% positive the ENTIRE chest ... moreis cedar inside- the bottom definitely smells like cedar, the sides not so much, so please look at the pictures of the interior that I have included so you can decide. OOAK Vintage Child's Handmade Solid Cedar Hump Dome Chest Trunk Dolls Bears
Wonderful vintage. Hand-made solid cedar dome top/ hump back storage chest or train trunk. This vintage chest is handmade of ¾” solid cedar and smells wonderful when you open it. It weighs in at around 12 lbs. unboxed. Has a pieced, domed lid with two handles that are screwed in on either side to make it easy to carry. It has two gold-tone hinges on the backside and measures 18” long x 14” wide x 12.5” high at the very top of the domed lid. The lid itself is made with 14 separate pieces of hand-beveled cedar pieces, secured with small finishing nails in order to form the domed lid. VINTAGE JAPANESE TEA BOX“CHABAKO” Waterproof Tin Lined Cedar Chest RARE. HARD TO FIND 25 ¾” Long X 16” Wide 18 5/8” High This is a unique box the Japanese use to ship and store their tea leaves. It can be repurposed for a variety of uses in a Western home. It can be covered with many different kinds of material and used as a seat. Table or ottoman or cedar chest. A Chabako provides excellent protection against humidity. Insects and is also very effective at keeping things smelling fresh. Covering the Chabako with silk or cotton obi and kimono fabrics. Blue and white or upholstery fabrics will make a beautiful decorative piece for your home. The Chabako itself shows some wear from its use in tea transport and then sending it to the US. At some point one of the movers wrote on the paper tape on the side of the box. Any exterior blemishes ... morewill disappear when the box is covered. Vintage Miniature Lane Cedar Chest From Altavista Virginia, Remember These
Remember this from the early 1900s. Here is a little history on the Lane Company in Altavista Virgina that produced it. No key for it. Lane began producing miniature cedar chests in 1925. Five years later. The firm's sales manager converted these miniatures into a great promotional idea: the company invited young women about to graduate from high school to pick up a free miniature chest at their local furniture store. By 1984 more than 15 million prospective Lane customers had received these promotional gifts. It was March 1912. And a man named John Lane had purchased a box plant in Altavista, Virginia. His son Ed Lane, twenty-one at the time and with little manufacturing experience, was encouraged by his father to try his hand at starting a chest factory in the newly acquired plant. Since the Lanes didn't know how successful their ... morenew venture was going to be, they didn't want to put their name on it, so they incorporated the little company as the Standard Red Cedar Chest Company, with John Lane as President and Ed Lane as Vice President and General Manager. From cedar chests, Lane expanded to occasional tables in 1951, casegoods in 1956, and accent pieces in 1965. In 1972. Lane bought a small reclining chair company in Tupelo, Mississippi named Action Industries. Action Industries was founded in 1970 by Bo Bland and Mickey Holliman. Action sustained tremendous growth through gains in market share and product diversification over the next 20 years becoming a major force in the upholstered furniture industry. Today, the wood and upholstered divisions have become Lane Home Furnishings. Lane Furniture Industries is owned by Furniture Brands International which also owns other well known brand name companies. Broyhill, Thomasville, Drexel Heritage and Maitland Smith.

VINTAGE 50'S LANE CEDAR CHEST SAMPLE I'm offering a l950's vintage Lane cedar chest sample in good condition. It has two tarnished hinges in the back and a tarnished keyhole in the front with no key. It is printed inside the lid: Lane cedar chests. Altavista, VA, Distributed by May Furniture& Carpet Co. Inc. Measurements are 9"long. 4 1/2"wide and 4" high. It is in good condition with a pretty sheen. There is one small one inch scratch on the front left corner and some small scratches on the back. Any other imperfections appear to be the natural state of the wood, for example, knots. One owner item. Payment only accepted through Pay Pal and is expected within 3 days of closing of auction. Classic 1950's wooden bench chest. Covered in pink vinyl with goldish green spots. Interior of chest is cedar and still has that lovely cedar smell. Lid, which is held up by sliding iron latch, is padded and upholstered in matching pink vinyl, bound in gold around edges, with large button in center. Because of color and vinyl exterior, we believe chest was designed for use in bathroom and, in fact, was used there by elderly family member to hold her towels and other linens ever since we can remember. Plus, it made great place to sit and converse with whichever cousin you were"keeping company" while she bathed or used bathroom. Chest measures 24" long x 15" high x 12" wide.
