Vintage Steamer Trunk Salesmans Sample Doll Miniature Bassett Antique Victorian
Here is an adorable miniature steamer trunk from the Bassett company. It opens and closes with two working side latches and one center latch. Measures 10" long by 6" wide by 6.5" tall. There is no key and the side leather handles are gone. Which is very common for these old trunks. Interior paper is intact but torn on the inside of the lid. There is wood underneath the paper. The exterior has rust as shown in the photos. This trunk is perfect for a restoration project. Or keep it in its original state. Would fit nicely on a shelf!

Antique Chest/ Trunk Brass Corner Straps. Salvaged hardware from an old trunk that fell to pieces! This is a set of 8 Corner Straps. They are solid brass; they are soft and will easily conform to the corners of your project. Each unique piece is engraved with a bird with its wings spread in flight. And a flowering branch with leaves. The pretty scalloped edges are a perfect touch to the nature motif. The rich brass gleams softly. Just right(not too brassy or tacky) The metal shows its age in a good way. Which is something that I look for, personally. It shares a history with the new piece of furniture it goes with. VINTAGE Antique Wardrobe STEAMER CHEST TRUNK National Vulcanized Fibre co.
Here is an antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. The sides are flat so this could be used as an interesting coffee table. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Sarasota was for many years the winter home of Ringling Brothers ... moreCircus and Barnum and Bailey Circus and now has an excellent Circus Museum and the Ringling Art Museum(formerly the Ringling residence) The man I bought the trunk from said it had belonged to a circus performer. Antique Vanderman stagecoach/railroad trunk from the late 1800's to early 1900's. The patent date on the tag appears to be 1897. The trunk/Strong box is in original condition and has not been restored. One top board is damaged as shown in photograph. This trunk in solid and in very good condition for its age. Also included is a set of vintage tools to include a large level. A 30 inch block plane, drill bit set with box, saw, wood mallet, axe head, and ammunition belt. This is a vintage doll trunk. It measures approximately 18" X 9" X 9" The inside of the trunk has a pattern that shows children playing. The shelf on the inside has a slight bend to it due to age. There are two latches on the outside of the trunk to keep it closed. They do work. But they have some rust. There are two stickers on the trunk. One is an American Airlines sticker. The other has been ripped, so you can't read the whole label. There is slight discoloration throughout. Please refer to photographs for more details.

ANTIQUE OR VINTAGE CONGA DRUM CARVED FROM A SOLID TREE TRUNK ♪ This is an amazing. Intense instrument and beautiful sculptural artifact. I'm not sure the actual age or origin of this amazing drum. But I can say that whenever it was made it looks to me totally authentic. It looks to me like what must be the original form of the Conga Drum. I imagine this is what the Conga was before it got mass-produced with glued-up lathe-turned staves and chrome-plated hardware. This drum is hand-carved from a single log. The carving leaves the beautiful unfinished facets on the surface. Which is also decorated with incised lines and subtly painted colorful geometric patterns around the lower part. The inside looks chiseled out with an adze or other hand tools and is left rough. The drum skin is a piece of hide stretched across and pegged to the rim. ... moreTightened with very striking twists. It has a beautiful deep ringing sound. If you or anyone you know is a Congero. Might want to try this one out to get to the roots of the instrument. There are several pieces of stickers on the trunk and one from the Black Ball Freight Service with the phone number"BREMERTON 300" dates the sticker to the days before we dialed phone numbers directly. I would guess the trunk dates to around the turn of the century. It's made out of wood with metal brackets and rivets. Black laminate on the outside. Blue and white paper covering the inside. Measures 30 1/2" long by 18 wide by 19 1/4" tall on the outside. Inside dimensions are 29 1/2" long by 16 1/2" wide by 14 1/2" tall. The lid is 3 3/4" tall on the inside. It weighs 26 pounds. Up for auction is this beautiful wooden trunk. This is smaller in size than the much larger once that are usually listed. It overall dims are 26" long by 14" deep(front to back) by 13" tall. It comes with the key but the lock is missing. The face plate is there so it isn't affected cosmetically but the lock assembly is gone. Very rustic looking chest. The wood is very light weight like Cedar but the knots give it the look of Pine. The crack across the front gives it a great look. The channels and groves in the wood are from bugs and worms and give it one of a kind characteristics. Awesome in my eyes. The keepers for the Excelsior latches are missing. The finish is in good condition. There is some slight tarnish on some areas. Maybe you just want an antique to show off that won't take up much space. This Trunk is perfect for you! Here we have a Children's Toy or Doll trunk. Circa 1890's. Truck lovers often mistake these as Salesman Samplers. This chest was covered in canvas when I acquired it. But due to the degradation of the material, I removed it. I also gave it a light sanding so you(the buyer) won't get a splinter the first time you touch it. I did leave two small sections of canvas on the sides of the lid. So what you see is a beautiful wooden trunk that is ready for you to give it your own personal touch. The paper on the inside is original. I am selling this trunk to you AS-IS.
