Offered are the handles and latch off of an old wooden trunk. The trunk fell apart from being in a damp environment but the hardware on it was saved and hopefully can be used to help fix or restore another trunk or piece of furniture. There are 2 side handles that measure 4" side x side and 4" top to bottom. The latch that lifted the lid measures 5" wide x 1.5" top to bottom. The pieces are in good condition. Up for sale is this vintage or antique early 20th century humpback trunk. The front. Back and top have metal panels with a reptile skin texture. The side metal panels are smooth with a blue tint. The humpback top has wood banding. There is metal banding on the edges. It has metal one directional wheels on the bottom. There is extensive patina on the metal and wear on the wood finish. Part of the metal lid strip is missing on the front corner, and the leather handles are missing. It has 2 broken hinges and the inside shows use wear as in soiling, filth, staining. The lid on the insert is detached but is included with the trunk. It has a strong smell of moth balls. The lock does not latch and we do not have the key. However, the other 2 latches do function. This auction is for a very beautiful vintage dome top Steamer Pirate trunk. It has a very pretty pressed tin design(blue) mixed in with the oak wooden strips. It really makes a very pretty display piece It would look great in any area! It is a useable trunk. Both of the old leather side handles are attached still! The large front center hinge lock works fine but I do not have a key for this trunk. Both of the side front locks work well. There are no interior drawers. The interior shows it's age but would be great for storage. It measures as follows. It is 35 inches wide, 17 inches deep and 21 inches tall. It is used and has wear, surface marks, scrapes and bruises from all those many years of gentle use. the interior and natural back board and inside the lid has been restored natural. Unusual Vintage Antique Clinton Steamer Wall Trunk
Unusual Clinton"Wall" trunk manufactured in Clinton. MA about 1900 give or take 10 years. A wall trunk is hinged so that you don't have to pull it away from the wall when you open the lid. Very good antique shape. Tin has two-toned raised grapevine pattern. Brass key shield. Cast iron hinges are stamped with manufacturer's name etc. Trunk has original tray fitted for the wall design with a huge maker's label still intact. Maker's labels are hard to find and this one is very large. Original paper inside is in fair-good shape. Approximately 32"W x 23"H x 19"D This is an antique so it has some bumps& bruises. Vintage/Antique wood and metal treasure or doll trunk/chest. Not sure of the exact age but I was told it was very old and maybe from the early 1900's. It is gold lined with a velvety material but the ribbon is not attached but could be easily attached to keep the lid from going back too far. The latch on front of chest does need repair and there is one small crack on one of the top slats on top of chest. The slats are wood and the sides. The top opens on one side to access the hangers. And the hangers also slide out on telescoping metal rods, as shown in the photo. The drawers include 1 hat box. 1 folded box and 2 small drawers The original lock is intact. But I do not have the key. Has all the original wooden hangers. This is a one of a kind find. This gem is all 100% original. As shown in the photos This unique trunk is over 130 years old, with normal wear.The key is missing, but has the original wood tray. All of the tin looks to be in very good shape with a wonderful patina. The hinges, lock and corner latching mechanisms are in perfect working order. Looking at the hinges(right, left) you will be able to make out the PAT"D Oct, 71 I believe that the date there is Oct, 1871. On the lock itself is stamped MARTIN MAIER& CO. A rare leather trimmed ladies dress trunk. With solid brass hardware, hardwood slats, striped canvas covering, and linen and silk lining. With the original interior tray with multiple compartments! Only the high grade trunks had real leather trim and edging, all solid brass hardware and silk lining. Constructed of wood with leather edge bindings. Heavy canvas covering, solid brass slat braces, brass lock, latches, and rivets, and thick leather side handles. Two solid brass latches are on the front and work. ... moreThe marked lock is also of solid brass, no key is available. The interior is linen lined and contains the special fitted compartments made for shirts, shoes, and various other garments as well as umbrella straps. The four bottom wood slats are present as well as the heavy duty rollers. The trunk bottom is in very good condition, with zinc covering and hardwood slats. The brass hardware is all present and has not been highly polished, to preserve the aged patina. It could be polished if desired. The leather trim, corners, and handles are intact with typical signs of wear. The leather has all been treated with professional leather treatment polish. It is hard to find ornate trunk handles of this style that are still intact. The trunk is a great size for use as a table if desired. Condition notes: This trunk is in very good used condition. But there are signs of age and use which are typical for a trunk of 100 years or more in age. There are some minor issues I want to describe. The top of the trunk has a couple splits or cracks in the canvas, which are not visible from all angles. The cracks are filled and glued and are not very large or very noticeable.
