You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? There is leather and metal construction incorporated into this little trunk. The leather handle is broken and the leather straps are gone with just some of their remnants being in place. The trunk is still 100% solid. This trunk will make a killer repurpose project, you just need to use your imagination, is it a small table, a small storage trunk for a big city loft apartment? As well as a piece that sits in the bottom drawer(see pictured photo) There is also a piece thats used to secure the hangers farther back that is pictured. The hinges are all working however need to be cleaned. The locks appear in very good condition. No keys. These trunks were the very best. Right at the top with Louis Vuitton, Goyard, M. M. Secor, etc. This trunk was one of Hartmann's top models of the time, costing close to $200.that's over $2500 in today's market. Only a well-to-do gentleman or lady would have owned something this expensive and of this quality. This particular trunk is a cushion-top model, and is also gibraltarized, patentened process in order to make the trunk frame very strong. This is all steel-frame construction. The trunk features a velvet cushioned top to protect clothing during travel. All original"unbreakable hangers" a garment bag for clothing worn, all hand riveted, and featered a patented locking mechanism that actually hooks so your trunk would never open in travel. From the hangers to the cloth lining, and cloth ties, this was made for an entire wardrobe to moved about without putting a wrinkle in any of your items. Antique Curved Alligator Like Hammered Tin Top Saratoga Trunk Offering you beautiful curved Dome top trunk. This trunk once was quite an expensive beauty. The curved top. Plentiful nails and amazing-fine hardware makes this a high-end piece, often known as a Saratoga Trunk. The reason for the curved top is to ensure that this trunk would go on the top of the stack. Rather than having trunks stacked on top of it, damaging the contents. I have not altered or refinished this trunk. I purchased it from a lady who stated it was in the stable area of her very old, victorian home. The home was built in the early 1900's. INSIDE: I believe it is constructed of Pine with a floral paper design. Which means this trunk belonged to a Woman. OUTSIDE: Has a dark metal/tin tone. 4) wooden, Elm? vertical slats on the dome top, 2) horizontal wooden slats ... moreon the front& back, 1) wooden slat on each side. There is a 16" wide Alligator Leather look design area on the top that extends down the front and back and along both sides that is divided by leather slats. I was told this design area is an ornate hammered tin. The metal work is very nice and when this trunk was new, must have been gorgeous. There are(8) metal shield type designs holding down the top wood slats. On the top side ends, there are large metal Crown like designs. There are(2) brown leather handles. 1 handle is torn but repairable. This trunk was definitely for a woman of importance. Approximate Dimensions: 22" High@ the highest-middle 32.5" Wide 17.5" Deep Condition: This trunk is in good antique condition. There is normal wear. Which is expected, due to it's age. The bottom inside does have a few minor cracking in the wood. There is not a lock on the trunk. All the nails& design hardware are there, as far as I can see. USEFUL. OLD, HANDMADE WOODEN BOX I purchased this on a back country farm in rural Virginia about 40 years ago. It's a simple construction. Wood planks make up each side and the lid which is held on by two metal hinges. I'm sure it was old when I bought it. Over the years it's been used as a coffee table. As I had a glass piece made to fit it, and later, simply storage for my Civil War reenacting. It has been well-cared for and kept in a dry environment. Would look perfect on a camp street, keep a blanket inside, etc. I'm guessing rough cut 3/4" pine boards- really doesn't have much of a fragrance at this point. It's heavy. BOX CIRA 1940 This is a sale of a great unique strong box.Uses can be cash/jewellery or deeds.I believe it was a banking deed box as the name of a possible owner is engraved& the area Bristol.England. I believe the box to be 1940 s.The lock is working well and the key is present.Made solidly from brass and steel.Possible fire proof?The box weight is 7 kg. 15 cm x 14 cm x 25 cm. With thick walls& HEAVY! The handle is not fixed and moves up and down well. Strong hinges.I have left the box as it is, i have not over cleaned it or used brass cleaning products on it.It could be restored if the new owner wishes?or left natural I have not seen one like this. Antique Vintage John T. Barnum Ladies Hat Trunk 24"x 24"
Crafted by the John T. Barnum Trunk Manufacturer Company. This rare Barnum Wardrobe Dressing Trunk is a beautiful representation of the company’s skilled workmanship and expertise. A cube shape measuring 24″ long. 24 wide, it has all of its original brass latches and appointments and is monogrammed“L” surrounded by a stenciled diamond. The trunk is covered in a green canvas. This Barnum Trunk has a slight curved-top. The front lock is stamped"Corbin Cabinet Lock Co along the top curve and New Britain Conn" along the bottom curve. This size trunk 24" x 24" is very difficult and even rarer because the inside of the trunk is still intact and complete. Rivets are used to secure the trunk Circa Early 1900's. This Barnum Trunk is in good condition with minor surface wear appropriate to the age of the piece. The interior ... morehas some wear, but is complete and in excellent vintage condition. This fabulous trunk bears a brass makers plate on the top and on the cage which reads“BARNUM— maker— Minneapolis, Minn. Established in 1880, the John T. An old original Victorian blanket box. As its well over a hundred years old. It will have marks, old wood worm holes, small bows and splits but I think it all adds charm. The box was fully treated for woodworm to be safe and secure from any little beasties several weeks ago Inside has the original fish tail hinges and it still has its lock and upper keep in the lid but the key is long gone lost over time The chest has a nice shiny bri wax finish. Its a early example made from pine not heavy very light to lift. Unlike later examples. One side has trim on the edge the other does not see pictures. Could be used as a coffee table or look fab in a room for the old world look. I found this and a few other pedal cars in a friends garage. Still has dust and cob webs on it. It is an all original Murray Lancer pedal car. This is a very rare full size model that has a trunk. All original 2-tone paint, has a couple minor dents and a lot of scratches, wheels show wear and a little rust, one wheel is made out of wood(they did a really nice job making it) Has all hubcaps, wooden wheel hubcap has 2 screws holding it on. Antique Saratoga Doll Trunk, beautiful wood, fabric lined, with key! Vintage!
A great 16" antique wooden doll trunk. Professionally refinished and relined, ready to use with your dolls and display! Measures 16" by 11" tall by 10" deep. The style is a round top Saratoga trunk type and I have an old catalog advertisement from 1891 showing a similar toy Saratoga trunk. I'll include a copy of that. The wood is in beautiful condition and the original lock works well, key included! It's very hard to find these with a key. The trunk has fancy Victorian style paper trim and a wonderful old Victorian lithograph print in the lid which has been preserved, showing children feeding the chickens. Expertly lined with high quality floral fabric. The trunk has small wood slats and fancy metal slat clamps, leather handles, two metal hinges, and the bottom is all wood in excellent condition also. Vintage Antique Oriental Trunk Chest Storage Wood Hand-Carved Table
This was picked up from an estate from a family that brought this with them when they moved to the US. This chest is very very nice on the inside. The exterior you can see straight line cracks on the top. But this is still a very cool piece with nice carving. 36" x 17 1/2" and 19" tall When you open it the hinge is still working great keeping the top open.
