It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. 1870-1900 Victorian Antique Steamer Trunk or Chest, of the "Titanic" Era
This is a well preserved. Collector-quality antique chest with a rounded top. A photograph aboard the Titanic shows a trunk very similar to this one. The well-known"Titanic" which sank on its first voyage. Though thought to be unsinkable. Read about the"Unsinkable Molly Brown" saved alive from that ship. Steamer trunks" were standard luggage for traveling aboard ship in those days. Nothing is missing on this trunk except the key to the lock! Helpful for someone interested in restoring it. Even the antique leather handles( 150 plus years old) are strong and intact! and were used to lift the empty trunk for its recent journey from its purchase point. View the photographs of each of the thick leather handles. Recently purchased from an estate sale in Southern California. For its age, this"treasured" chest is ... morein truly in excellent shape. The trunk opens and closes work as should. There is no warping. No"musty" smell. This trunk is as is. With all of the interest and beauty of its aged condition. On the edges where the lid and the lower portion of the trunk meet. The flower-embossed tin sheet metal shows the patina's original condition, a golden copper sheen. The sturdy sheet metal on the very bottom of the trunk is plain un-embossed sheet metal. Black in color with wooden slats. In a"grease pencil or crayon" on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats appears"32 x 84" The bottom of the trunk shows evidence of wheels once attached in each of the four corners of the trunk. No labels have yet been discovered in the trunk which would reveal more about its origins. There is some writing on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats indicating"32 x 84" This trunk or chest is better than average condition from what I've seen on eBay. Nice Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps & Key
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles and Working Lock& Key Here we are offering you a nice primitive refinished arch top or dome top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one is an arch top since the sides of the trunk at the top are the same height as the center of the top. On dome tops. The center is a little bit taller than the sides. Here are the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 inches. From floor to top is approximately 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 1/2 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of rough cut pine base wood with some type of hard wood outer slat boards, maybe poplar or birch. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in it's natural color since we did not use any stain during the refinishing ... moreprocess. We did glue a stress crack on one of the top outer slat boards. We are saying it is primitive since there is more wood showing on this trunk than fancy metal hardware. Also the boards are more crudely put together in which there are some small gaps where they joined the wood together, especially on the inside on the bottom. The rough cut boards that we speak of show the saw blade marks from the saw mill since they were not planed down when this trunk was made. This one comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. We have found a key for this lock that does work properly. The front latches are original. We have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. In addition to the lock and latches, these straps secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled. The side handles were on this trunk. They are metal. One is roundish in shape while the other one is a little more rectangular. We have shown a picture of the more rounded one. Going to the interior, the back hinges have been remounted with screws to ensure strength. We did install a lid stay so the lid

Up for sale is this beautiful restored large antique victorian roll top steamer trunk with key. It measures 35" long by 22 1/4" wide and 25" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. It has all of its original hardware. The trunk measures 34.5 inches wide by 20 inches deep by 24 inches high. And it weighs 64.5 pounds. The exterior has been thoroughly sanded. The tin has been primed and finished with two coats of black paint. The oak slats have been refinished with two coats of tung oil as has all of the exterior hardware and other metal parts. Both of the levers that lock the latches work fine. Both of the handles ... morehave been replaced with very similar leather handles. The bottom was sanded and finished in black. All four of the original metal roller wheels on the bottom of the trunk are intact. The entire inside of the trunk and the oak tray have been sanded and refinished with two coats of polyurethane. The wardrobe side even has its Original Wooden Hangers that are built right in and an ingenious Slide Bar so you can decrease the area as the size of your clothing dictates. Below the wardrobe is a fold down box which we assume was for shoes. To the Right is a 4 Drawer Dresser with Drawers for even more storage. The drawers are all relatively narrow given the trunk's size but they are all Extra Deep! Outside. The trunk has a Black Leather like outer surface with Big Metal Corner Protectors on all Corners and all the Protectors are Intact! A Ladycomet Nice Refinished Victorian Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key
Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key Here is a nice refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one has a very fancy working lock. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 23 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/4 inches. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and make it look nice. The wood is in pretty good condition considering the age of this trunk and there are some typical stress cracks in the base wood. We have shown a close up picture of some of these stress cracks on the top. The majority of the trunks have similar stress cracks. This trunk maker did a nice job of running metal banding ... moreon this trunk. By doing so, it gives the trunk a nice wooden sectioned appearance. Some of the metal banding was missing, so we have filled these areas with glue to make up for the missing banding. The front latches are original cast iron ones and do work properly since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. Someone has added a lock hasp on the front of the trunk next to the fancy lock. We decided to leave it there since it appears to be fairly old and you could use a padlock with this hasp to secure the lid of the trunk to the base in addition to the fancy working lock. The lock is fancy in which it has embossed and carved patterns on it. There is a close up picture showing this unique lock. We did match up a key that does work with this lock. We are calling this trunk a flat top, although this trunk has a very slight factory arch to the top which is noticeable in ths close up side view picture. Antique Victorian Slightly Arched Wood Slat Steamer Trunk Chest
Up For Sale is this awesome antique trunk. It has M.F.M. initialed on the side. The trunk is very solid and has a lot of character. It is a green color. It only has a slight arch on the top. So it would be great for a coffee table or to store blankets and such. It is good shape for the time and could be easily restored. There is no structural damage. The only damage is that on of the latches is missing some pieces and the leather is worn. Both of the handles are intact, but as you can see in the photo one is coming apart. Up for bid is an extremely rare and beautiful 1800's VICTORIAN WOOD AND CAST IRON HUMP BACK STEAMER TRUNK. This is a old wood trunk that is very majestic in appearance. It is beautifully crafted of an inner wood body covered in beautiful black metal sheet. Fantastic wooden bumper panels on all sides, even more so fantastic cast iron metal work of every latch, hinge, and edge trimming throughout trunk(including bottom which has small cast iron wheels) One of my favorite parts of this gorgeous trunk is the original 1800's lock and latch, it absolutely beautiful. Inside of trunk is extremely spacious and has a very clear, bold original colored illustration of a beautiful Victorian era woman starring off into the distance. The trunk itself measures at 34 1/2" long. 20" wide and 23 1/2" tall, and is what I consider, a larger ... moretrunk. It has aging wear but it has fantastically aged, could be easily used for display or everyday use as well as it is very sturdy and well built. Only thing to repair is one rear hinge that has broken from where it attaches bottom of trunk to lid, but hinge bodies on both lid and bottom are firmly attached to trunk with no damage, it is very fixable as it is a clean break of the thin metal of latch(See pictures) I have given a very accurate description of this astonishing steamer trunk and I have provided pictures of all angles for your viewing and bidding certainty. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 1/2 inches. We removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards, and the dome top looks like early birch ply. We have prepared and finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve it and make it nice. The wood is in decent condition considering the age of this trunk, and you can see some saw blade marks on the ... moreboards at the front of the trunk which are from the rough cut lumber which was used on this trunk back in the 1800's. This trunk maker put a nice amount of fancy hardware on this dome top. All of the metal parts which are on this trunk are not brass. We have brush painted the metal parts by hand in black and gold leaf. There are some patent dates on the fancy cap metal near the dome. It is hard to make out the exact date, although we have shown a close up picture of this patent date. We have given this trunk a lock off of a parts trunk since it was missing the lock when we purchased it. The lock we installed does work properly and comes with the appropriate key. The front latches are original on this trunk and do work ok since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, this trunk has a nice feature which is the hidden compartment are on the underside of the dome. We have recreated the door that drops down to show this area. This is a beautiful Victorian 1800'S Hump Back Trunk with alligator-skin patterned tin exterior covering. It is totally original. It is untouched, unmolested by refinishers or restorators, it has not be polished and has no replacement parts. Condition: Hinges are original and untampered. All of the hinges work fine. The trunk opens freely and shuts tightly. All of the wooden slates are in great condition. There is one wheel missing on the bottom and it still rolls nicely on three wheels. Up for auction is a beautiful large Victorian steamer trunk in original condition. This is a nice size for toys or linens or even a blanket chest. Measures 38" wide x 23" deep x 27" high. Beautiful details such as wood stripping. Brass locks, leather handles and a faux marble painted tin decoration on all sides. There are a couple of minor dents and the inner tray is missing but otherwise in very good condition. Someone could make a tray for this and repair the wood flap inside. Ladycomet Refinished Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key & Tray
Beautiful Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Interior Tray Here is a really fancy beautiful refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely hump back chest is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are typical older distress marks on the wood which include older scratches and nicks in various places, although the chest is very sturdy and can be sat upon the top if you want to do so. This trunk maker put a lot of nice metal hardware on this trunk. The metal parts that make up this trunk ... moreare not brass, therefore we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. This trunk also comes with the original patent dated working lock. This is the first time out of well over a thousand trunks that we have had this style of lock. It is patent dated on the key hole cover which is the only brass part on this trunk that we have semi polished. It reads, Pat Mar 69& Apr 77" There is a close up picture showing these dates. We did match up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. You can lock your belongings inside this beautiful trunk away from others. The front latches are original cast iron nice ones that still work since the springs are still intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a tray or insert for this trunk. It rests at the top edge where the original one once did. The interior wood and tray have received two coats of polyurethane. We did leave the fancy paper border in place on the underside of the dome and we added two nice trunk maker's style pictures to the underside of the dome. Considering how old this trunk is, the interior is in pretty good condition.

Antique Victorian Dome Top Hump Back Steamer Trunk w/ Tray Embossed Tin& Wood Description: Up for sale is this great old small sized Dome top or Hump Back trunk! This trunk measures 24 1/4" x 14 x about 17" tall. As you can see from the photos on the left this trunk has been painted sometime in its past. The bottom tin is black in color with four embedded wheels near the corners. This leads us to believe that the original color of the tin on this trunk was black. You can see in the closeup that this trunk is covered with an embossed floral patterned tin covering held in place with wood straps with very ornate angle pieces at the corners. This trunk has 2 latches and one hasp type lock. Unfortunately the key for this lock is long gone. The hasps both close snugly but appear to be a little fragile. At one time there were leather ... morehandles on either side of this great old trunk. One side still has a little of the handle left. But the other sides handle is gone. The inside of the trunk is natural wood without any covering. The tray still feels pretty solid. There is one knot hole in a side as shown in the photo and most of the original paper covering is still in place. Here is an adorable miniature steamer trunk from the Bassett company. It opens and closes with two working side latches and one center latch. Measures 10" long by 6" wide by 6.5" tall. There is no key and the side leather handles are gone. Which is very common for these old trunks. Interior paper is intact but torn on the inside of the lid. There is wood underneath the paper. The exterior has rust as shown in the photos. This trunk is perfect for a restoration project. Or keep it in its original state. Would fit nicely on a shelf!

Very nice steamer trunk with colorful green embossed flower tin top. Back hinges in good working condition. Center lock[no key] is marked"Eagle Lock Co. Terryville Conn, USA" The two latches located towards the sides of the front work well. Once engaged. They are secured and released by a small lever on the side of the latch. They are marked"Pat Jul 972" The handles are metal and do not appear to be original. But they look very consistent with the trunk and are solidly mounted. All four wheels on bottom are present and still work. There isn't a lift out drawer or hinge stop. The trunk measures approximately 33" long x 18" wide x 24" tall. The trunk weighs 16 lbs[just the trunk- without packaging] I trust you can tell from the pictures that the trunk isn't perfect. But is in very usable condition ... moreas-is. The inside is clean and the over-all vibe is very nice. The green color of the embossed tin is very pleasant. Ladycomet Refinished Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest, Straps&Tray
Charming Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles and Interior Tray We are selling a nice refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's. This trunk is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is approximately 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. This one has some typical older nicks and dings in various places. These character marks are present on just about all of the trunks that we refinish. There were some small holes in the wood where either knots were missing or something, and we did fill these holes in. There were several on the front and several on the back, ... morenot on the top or on the sides. These boards were free of any holes. This particular trunk doesn't have hardly any stress cracks in the wood. Usually these trunks do, but this one is good. There is no lock mechanism, although there is a brass square lock plate at the front. The top part of the lock that swings down into the lock plate appears to be original, but there is no engagement mechanism behind this brass lock plate which someone may have put on this trunk some time ago. The lock plate is the only brass on this trunk. We have brush painted the remaining metal by hand in black and gold leaf. The front two latches are cast iron and they do work ok since the springs are still there. A nice pair of leather straps with roller buckles has been installed onto this trunk. In addition to the front latches, they help secure the top to it's base when buckled. They are functional, not just for show. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps which are sturdy. Primitive ANTIQUE MINIATURE DOLL STEAMER TRUNK Victorian Dome Top 1880's
This is a cute antique. 1800s, miniature dome top streamer trunk. It was an antique doll trunk. It is wood covered in paper with black leather around the edge. The handles are also leather however one is missing. It shoulkd be easy to replace as the are just held on with small nails. It has small hinges on the back and an old latch on the front(which does close) It has a pretty picture on the inside of the lid showing two young children in Victorian dress. It has the original tray however someone has replaced the bottom of the tray. The wood is not very attractive and if I was keeping I would replace with a thin plywood if I didn't have an old piece of wood that would work. It measures 10 3/8" long, 5 3/4" wide and 5 1/4" tall. This Dome top is of Medium Size. It's a Wood and Filigree Tin Dome Top Antique Trunk measuring 26"L x 16.5"H x 13.5"W. The Exterior is covered in a Gold and Dark Gold Tin Filigree with Floral Design. You can see that the contrast between the tin and the oak wood is stunning. This trunk has all of its original hardware and both leather straps attached.
