It is complete with the tray and the top has a compartment with a hinged door. The inside and the tray have been lined with wallpaper- beautifully done. To the best of my knowledge. All of the leather is original. It has the original Brass Lock with a star pattern. The key is included and the trunk does lock. The trunk automically locks when you close the lid. If the key is not present. The key must be in the lock and turned to the unlocked position to open the trunk. Measures approximately 30" Wide(without the side straps) by 17" Deep by 15" High. Stained a Medium Brown- Base is made from Pine with Oak Slats. It does have a crack on the top. But to me, this just adds to its appeal. Other than a few very minor scratches. The trunk has a hinged lid, and the original lining is still inside the bottom portion of the trunk. The trunk is made of wood, with a nice brown covering that is mainly intact, although it is torn in quite a few places, and metal reinforced seams. There is no key with it, and the original locking mechanism is now missing. The trunk also has two latches, one on each side of the main lock, that are a unique design and work well, although they are covered with a fair amount of surface rust. The trunk also has other label remnants on it from travel, as well as a partial guarantee label inside the lid.

Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Working Lock & Key & Tray
Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock. 2 Keys and Tray My husband and I have refinished over 100 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice refinished flat top steamer t runk. The particular d iminsions for this are 30 1/4" length. 18 1/2" width and 20 1/2" heig ht. We refinished this particular trunk by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. Inside and out. A fter t his. We applied 2 layers of tung oil to the trunk and tr ay. After lots of research on rest oration. We have found that it is better to finish old wood ... morewith tung oil as it helps preserve the wood from drying and cracking from the inside out. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made brow n leather hand l es. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Th is trunk also ha s the two original latches newly painted and working properly.Attached to the lid of this trunk is the original stay so it will remain opened when wanted. Included with this trunk is the original tray. Newly sanded and finished. Working the way down to the b ottom there are 4 original metal casters that are securely in p lace and working properly. Nice Refinished Jenny Lind Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key and Tray
Nice Refinished Jenny Lind Style Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key and Interior Tray Here is a Jenny Lind refinished trunk from around the 1860's or so. We found this one already finished by someone else and figured it looked pretty decent. So we figured that we didn't have to refinish it. It is made up of some type of hard wood, possibly poplar and it looks like the wood has been finished with a couple of coats of clearcoat. This one has the traditional brass buttons or rosettes on the thin metal banding. The brass buttons have been polished, probably many years ago, although they are starting to tarnish down where they are not as shiny. Here are the measurements: from left to right across the front is 25 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 1 3 1/2 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 14 1/2 inches. Look at the side view ... morepicture and you will see this trunk has the Jenny Lind hourglass shape where the top angles in at the base and the base flares out a little bit, that slice of bread shape. This one comes with the original lock with the original brass lock plate. We have matched up a key that does work with this lock. These early locks lock every time the lid is closed, so the key is very important to be able to unlock the trunk each time the lid is closed. The side handles are cast iron metal underhand pulls. I don't know if they are old or reproduction, but they do have a figure of a deer embossed in the metal. They were on it when we received it and seemed to be ok for handles, so we have left them in place. Going to the interior, it is made up of rough cut boards. We have given the interior four coats of polyurethane to make it not so dry looking. There is a typical stress crack running across the bottom on the inside. There is also a stress crack running across the top which you can see in the top view picture on the exterior of the trunk and the picture where we show the close up of the brass buttons or rosettes. Found this old trunk key that was inside an old beat up trunk Excellent condition flat key is believed to be from between 1948 and 1955 Looked it up online and can only find the company that makes it but no other information about it without actually mailing it to the company for info which i have to pay for Long Lock Co. Short Trunk Lock, spring-loaded, Nice Patina, with key and screws
I bought these brass plated locks when I was building replica steamer trunks in the early 1970s. They have a natural aged patina. The lock in the photo is typical. The locks in my inventory are the same age so the patina is pretty constant. The one you receive will be this one or a very similar lock. I will include wood screws with brass painted heads to use to install the lock; pre-drill 1/2" deep with 1/8" drill with these wood screws.

Gorgeous Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Two Original Interior Trays Here is an absolutely beautiful fancy refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900 or so. If you have been waiting for the magnificent trunk with a tremendous amount of hardware. Then this one is definitely the one for you. It is hard for us to find trunks throughout the year that are really nice like this one. Here are the trunk's di mensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 21 inches. This beauty is made up of pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with some typical older ... moredistress marks which include nicks and dings in various places along with some hairline stress cracks. Just about all of the trunks that we refinish have these older character marks or distress marks, most of which have accumulated over time. The edge banding on the sides of this trunk is made up of some type of composition. It has some typical small splits or stress cracks in it, one of which we have shown in a close up picture so there won't be any surprises. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass, therefore we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk maker went all out and put lots of fancy hardware on this trunk. This beautiful trunk comes with the original signed working lock. Look at the close up picture and you will see it is signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn" We have matched up a key for you that does work properly with this lock. This trunk originally came with leather straps with buckles. They were eroded away and missing, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top in the same location where the original ones did. Vintage Steamer Trunk with Railroad Tag From 1948 With Key
You are viewing a vintage steamer trunk. You may have viewed many trunks before but how many have US Customs and Railway Express tags dated 1948, its amazing that a paper tag can remain attached and legible for 65 years. To top that off it still has a key for the lock, its a really neat trunk. The hinges and latches are in great shape, the lock has a spring inside that is coming apart so Im nervous to try to lock it. The inside paper lining is dirty and fragile so I dont want to clean it. The handles are both there and are in good shape. If there are any questions please feel free to ask. Up for auction is an antique tradesman toolbox. This one is special due to there is a toolbox within the toolbox. The one-handled carrier made to fit inside removes to allow the tradesman to carry a"lighter" load for certain jobs. This toolbox is in amazing condition with its original leather handle. Gorgeous Unique& Rare Condition Antique Steamer Trunk Amazingly this is a steamer trunk that had never been painted. Also had embossed tin, and still had the beautiful green enamel paint intact that the embossed tin was originally painted with! Also the trunk still has both handles intact. Neither look like they have been replaced, and it still has its original tray Even more exceptional. The trunk has a working LOCK& KEY: even the bottom of the trunk is in totally blean unrusted almost perfect condition. Even has a labeled where it was shipped at least one time from Danville KY in the 1920's I would estimate however that the age of the trunk is more around the late 1800's The trunk has been thoroughly cleaned& conserved. The wood has been cleaned, taken back to its original color, and finished, the metal was cleaned as ... morewell The inside of the trunk was stripped of all the old paper. This is a good thing to do so it rids the trunk of any old dust, allergens, smells, etc. Normally I will leave the inside as bare wood. COMPLETLY REFINISHED ANTIQUE VICTORIAN STEAMER TRUNK W/ WORKING LOCK & KEY !!!!!
for your consideration A beautifully restored Victorian flat top Steamer Trunk with working lock and key. New leather handles. Straps and buckles. ca.1890 The inside has been stripped. Brushed cleaned, sealed and covered with a period correct high end fabric design. The trunk has been reinforced from the inside where you see the cracks in the wood. Leaving the character that only a real antique trunk would accumulate over the years intact. The original canvas was in too bad of shape. So it was stripped to reveal the beautiful pine underneath. The outside has also been sanded. Cleaned and sealed with a satin finish for preservation and protection as well. Latches are in perfect working order. the lock can only be locked with the key. The handles and straps are new leather made from local Amish leather shop here in central PA It is in great ... moreshape for over 120 years old. this particular trunk is on the larger size. The measurements are: 36" long x 22" wide x 23" tall. This particular trunk did not need any new parts. Except for 2 wood slats on the bottom. Handles and straps with buckles, nails and rivets(all period correct) I have also put a beautiful Victorian reproduction lithographs from the same time period on the inside of the lid. Vintage Long Mfg. Co. 907 Trunk Lock Key
For sale. A vintage Long Mfg. 907 key for a trunk lock. This key is steel with a brass finish. It measures about 1¾” long and is in very good condition. The brass finish has some discoloration, but there is no damage to the metal. I have 2 of these keys, but am selling them separately.
