Fancy Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps, Key & 2 Trays
Gorgeous Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps. And Buckles, Working Lock& Key and 2 Original Interior Trays Here we have a very unique flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Out of about 1500 trunks that we have refinished. This is the first one that has triple straps running up the front and across the top. This one had originally come with three straps going up the front and across the top from the factory. Obviously we have replaced those three straps with Amish made leather straps, running them where the original straps once were. The center strap can be tucked under a piece of leather on the top if you don't want it to come down over the lock. We have made it that way so you can display your trunk with the lock showing instead of being covered by the third strap. We did want to include the third strap ... moresince it is the first trunk we have ever had with three straps. It just makes it more complete by putting the strap that covers the lock on this trunk. All of the black strap keepers or hold downs that you see on the front and top of the trunk are the original ones which we have painted black. This trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has some typical older distress marks which include older nicks and dings along with some areas of discoloration to the wood on the slat boards. This one doesn't have hardly any stress cracks in the wood which is quite unusual since most trunks we refinish have stress cracks. Here are the trunk's dimension s: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This one comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Corbin Cabinet Lock Co New Britain Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does work in this lock. The metal parts which make up this trunk are not brass and have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The edge band

Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Key, & Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is a real nice refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 16 1/2 inches. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This lovely dome top appears to be made up of poplar base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. Some of the boards are rough cut. lumber. These are boards that were used straight off the saw mill and still have the saw blade marks on them since they were not run through a planer. There ... moreare also some typical older character marks or distress marks on the wood which include older nicks and dings in various places along with some hairline stress cracks. Just about all of the trunks that we refinish have some form of distress marks including these that we have mentioned. This dome top comes with the original working lock. It appears that the key hole cover is missing, although we have still matched up a key that does activate this lock. The front latches are original and do work properly since the springs are still in good condition. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The fancy slat board cap metal that drapes down over thr front from the dome top has patent dates on it. It is hard to clearly make out the date. We have shown a picture of one of these patent dates. It looks to read, Patd Mar 15(or 16) 80" referring to 1880. The side handles were gone and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Original Interior Tray Here is a really nice large refinished flat top steamer trunk that dates to around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 24 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 21 1/4 inches. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood on this trunk has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The base wood on the top between the slat boards is rough cut wood. It is not smoothed out like the boards on the rest of the trunk. You might notice this in a close up picture that we have provided. There is a slight contrast in color on these top boards compared to the rest of the boards on the ... moretrunk. The wood is in pretty good condition throughout this trunk. There are some older typical distress marks in various places which include some older nicks and dings, mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. This is a true flat top trunk with no factory arch. This gorgeous trunk has a lot of fancy metal hardware. The metal components that make up this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk comes with a signed working lock. It is signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. We have shown a picture of this signature and we have matched up a key that does work properly in this lock. The front latches are original and in good working condition since the springs are still intact. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched handle straps. This trunk originally had a pair of leather straps with buckles. They were eroded away, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top in the very same location where the original ones were. Rare Antique Maier Oak Slat Beveled Top Trunk, Vintage, Restored, Tray & Key!
Here is the trunk for your collection! This beautiful rare trunk was made by Martin Maier& Company of Detroit from the 1885 to 1895 period. Based on the actual dates of manufacture of the hardware. If you see a trunk with this type latch it was not made in the 1870's as many other sellers state. Because they were patented in 1882 and used into the late 1890's. I do extensive trunk research. Size: 30" wide. 22 1/2" tall, 20" front to back. A fabulous rare size, great for many uses! Very few Martin Maier slat trunks are found and even fewer flat tops with the beveled corners such as this one. This style was advertised in one of their catalogs as a"Rustic" trunk covered entirely with hardwood slats. Superior quality and based on the Excelsior trunk patent of 1868. Which most people now call Oak Slat Trunks ... moreor Victorian slat trunks. Maier established his trunk company in 1865 after serving in the Civil War. This special trunk is not common in any way! Martin Maier& Co developed their distinctive narrow slat alternating color style trunks and they are very hard to find in such good condition. These are made of hardwood strips of oak or elm and another darker wood, over an all wood body. These trunks were made to be impressive and were more expensive to make than the ordinary metal, leather, or canvas covered trunks. That's probably why they are so rare today. The special corner"lid stay" hinges are marked Pat'd April 1879 and were patented by Martin Maier too! The front catches were patented in 1882. All of the trunk's hardware is in good condition and the wood has no breaks or missing wood. No sand blasting, sanding, or polyurethane coating has been done on this trunk exterior as some other restorers do. The trunk has a very smooth finish, which is hand rubbed tung oil, the finest antique furniture finish. The interior is also beautiful with a large Victorian chromolithograph, and the Maier label! Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock. Leather Straps and 2 Keys My husband and I have refinished over 120 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice decorative refinished flat top steamer trunk. The particular d imensions for this are 36 1/2" length. 21 1/2" width and 24" heig ht. The size of this trunk will make a great coffee table. This particular trunk is pine with oak or ash slat boards. We refinished this particular trunk by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and a little on the inside due ... moreto the rough cut wood that the inside was made out of. We didn't want to alter that finish too much. We then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. One of the stress cracks is on the top. If you notice it in the picture. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Along with the lock we attached two new Amish made black leather handle straps and buckles to help the lid stay securely shut when wanted. Up for sale is this beautiful restored antique victorian flat top low profile steamer trunk with working key. It measures 34 1/2" long by 20" wide and 12 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The Trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. For your consideration a beautiful antique steamer trunk from the turn of the century manufactured by Hartman of Racine Wisconsin. This trunk features its original locka with original key both function flawlessly. The trunk retains all of it original hinges buckles and both leather handles which are all in excellent condition. The trunk also retains the original Hartmann and Gibrlatorized logos which are also in excellent vintage condition and can be read easily. The inside of this trunk is in as nice of shape as the outside showing one small tear in the material on the top side of the trunk. Easy fix. The inside is lined in a silk type of material. The trunk is missing the inside shelf to divide it top to bottom. The exterior condition shows very minor scuffs, no dents it has a couple of paint dots on it here and there very non distracting ... moreand it adds character to the piece. This would work perfectly as a coffee table or storage at the end of the bed for blankets and pillows. This is truelly a fantastic conversation piece and is in excellent vintage condition. You don't often find them pretty well intact with the original key and lock. There are no pry marks across the top edge either as it has its original key. The measures ments of the trunk are 36 inches side to side, 23 inches deep and 25 inches top to bottom. No reserve auction, high bidder wins! 1800S ANTIQUE VICTORIAN STEAMER TRUNK CHEST X LG, TRAY & WORKING LOCK & KEY
Up for consideration is an extra large Victorian Trunk with removable tray and working lock and key. It has been tastefully recovered inside. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. It is a very solid trunk. Antique colonial camphor wood chest box trunk lock & key

This one according to the late owners family was much travelled around India. All the brass fittings are still in position and the chest has wonderfull naturally aged patina. Recently lightly cleaned and wax polished so all ready for the home. The brass fittings have been gently polished as they were almost blackened with age. One of the brass carrying handles is very slightly different so may have been update at some time. Nice Refinished Civil War Trunk Antique Chest/ Working Lock & Key &Compartment
Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Civil War Trunk with Working Lock. 2 Keys and a hidden compartment in the top of lid. My husband and I have refinished over 130 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice refinished Civil War trunk with a small amount of a dome in the top of lid. Imagine what this trunk has been through being used during the Civil War time in our history's past. The particular d imensions for this are 30" length. 17" width and 17" heig ht. This particular trunk would be a nice trunk for a college student. Or a wonderful place to store keepsakes. We refinished this particular trunk by taking ... moreoff the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. Inside and out. The inside of the trunk was built with the rough cut appeal so we sanded finely to leave the natural look. A fter t his. We applied Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the trunk a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Attached to the lid of this trunk we applied two new chain stays so it will remain opened when wanted. On the inside of th e lid you will find a secret compartment. It folds down so you can store small things in there. Working the way down to the b ottom of the trunk you will notice that it is in wonderful shape. With no holes or cracks in the wood.
