Beautiful vintage cedar wood trunk jewelry box with brass straps with silhouette figures on top of box and in the front of the box. The wood trunk measures 10 3/4" in length by 6 1/4" in depth and 4 3/4" tall. Overall in very good condition but there is one place at the top back. Shown in the last picture where there is knotted area from the wood. There is some patina on the brass and some light scratching but overall a very lovely old piece. Two chestnut colored leather straps cut from cowhide 1 1/4" wide by 8 inches long. Thickness is 1/4" Four brass plated metal strap ends. 1" long split head brass tacks to nail the leather to the trunk. Tacks are to be placed two per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a verticle position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Split head tacks 3/4" are to fasten the metal strap ends. The handles measure approx 10 1/2" metal end to metal end but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit. free postage

The cast iron handles are in very good condition. The end board on one side is a solid 13" wide plank. The pine boards are all old growth wood. The bottom planks have a few cracks in them as the pictures show. There are normal age wear nicks and bumps and dings. The size is 34" long. 16 1/2" wide and 19 1/2" tall. The lock is gone. This trunk has a few markings on the interior of the box(please see pictures) But it looks like it was from Wm. H. Hoskins and Co, which was a stationary company from the late 1800's into the early 1900's in Philadelphia. The box also has a"Penn. Absolutely beautiful matched pair of antique trunk handles salvaged from a wooden carpenter trunk or tool box. These handles are from the early 1900's. The tool chest was all rotten wood and did not survive. But these did! They have been cleaned with soap and water, dried, and clearcoated with automotive clear. They still retain the original, as-found rust color under the clearcoat, but if desired you can sandblast them and restore them. This is a wonderful look though, and it really brings out the details. They are heavy cast iron, with no cracks or chips. Each handle weighs just over one pound, and the measurements are shown in the photos. Only pair like this on eBay, so don't pass them up. My friend sold her boarding stable and has asked me to sell her custom made tack trunk. This impressive trunk was custom made by Quality Woodworking. Hampton, NH. It is made from marine plywood and has teak trim. It has two wheels underneath for easy movement and brass handles on each side. It is a substantial, well made tack trunk. At the bottom of the trunk there are two sections. One 8 1/2" by 21 1/2" and one 22 1/2" x 21 1/2" There is a removable top tray measuring 12" x 20" outside measurements) The trunk itself measures 28" tall and 34" wide and 24" deep(outside dimensions) With the wheels the trunk height is 30 1/2" tall. There is a small dent in the trim wood in the front of the trunk. It was kept in the center aisle of one of her barns and somehow received a dent. Beautiful Victorian trunk made of oak. Tin and iron. Leather straps on the side are both intact, which is rare. Inside is untouched-till is present and there is a pocket on top for storage. Antique Trunk Hardware-Leather Handles-2 straps, 4 Metal ends-& fasteners-YA
Two chestnut color leather straps cut from cowhide 1 1/4" wide by 81/2 inches long. Thickness is 1/4" Four brass plated metal strap ends primed and painted black. 1" long split head brass tacks to nail the leather to the trunk. Tacks are to be placed two per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a verticle position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Split head tacks 3/4" are to fasten the metal strap ends. The handles measure approx 10 1/2" metal end to metal end with the handle loop but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit. free postage

ANTIQUE BLACK TRAVELING TRUNK BRASS HANDLES ON THE SIDE FROM AN UPSTATE NEW YORK ESTATE WE HAVE A VINTAGE BLACK TRAVELING TRUNK WITH BRASS HANDLES Really unique piece. It is 17" long by 13 1/2" tall and 14 1/4" wide. When you open it up the top has criss cross strings for light stuff. Then you open the lid there is a pull out compartment insert ~ box that is 16" long by 13" wide and 4" tall. All made out of wood with a leather cover around all of it. Two Large brass handles on each side that are 6 1/2" long. The brass lock has Davis's Pat. GR incribed on it. There is no key and the bottom does show wear you can see it in the photo's but nothing that takes away from the piece. Would make a great addition to any vintage trunk collection.
