It is missing the leather handles, and ... moreone can see there is some wear and tear. I believe the stain on the top will come out. It has several bands of brass riveted to it. The bottom has no wheels, only wood rails. The lock has no key, and sometimes when you close it it locks up, but can easily be turned with an object that fits the hole in the lock. Nice Antique 1800's Small Dome Top Child’s Travel Chest
You are bidding on a VERY RARE and Nice Antique 1800's Dome Top Child’s Travel Chest. This chest does need a LOT of tender loving care. This travel chest is a wooden box covered with a designed paper material adorned with leather straps/bands along the bottom of the top lid. It has metal ornate bands holding down the wood strapping. A brass tone front locking mechanism. But we have no key. The box measures 14 inches long x 8 ½ inches wide not counting the wooden strapping and 9 ½ inches tall at the center of the dome. It is in need of restoration but is a very old and unique item that would make a great antique display. Comes from an old estate barn and begs for TLC. There are tapered clasp that slide onto the box and lid and tapped in place to make the lids tight and secure. There are rubber gaskets on the insides of the lids that provide a waterproof seal when the clasps are tightly in place. Antique Trunk. Measures 16" wide. 10" deep, 11" high. Wood trunk with metal embossed skin. Barrel top with wood slats. Metal corner protectors. This trunk was probably either a steamer travel trunk. Or a childs toy trunk, I do not know for sure it's purpose. The latches are missing the top half, and the lock is missing the latch, so the trunk can't be latched. The hinges are in great shape and the trunk opens and closes easily. The leather handle straps are gone. The interior appears to be the original except it looks like the inside top was replaced with a pirate chest themed paper. All in all it's a beautiful antique trunk. Antique Round Wooden Stagecoach Trunk Brass Gold Rush Era Travel Chest Vintage
For consideration is an antique wood trunk in good condition. The trunk is embellished with square shank brass studs and is lined with a Boston paper(Gleason's Pictorial Drawing Room Companion) that is dated 1851. The former owner(an elderly woman in Southern NH) said that it was in her family as long as she could remember. Though she couldn't give additional concrete details. Her grandfather had gone to California during the gold rush, but she couldn't be sure this trunk belonged to him. On top of the trunk are the initials"B.B. Their last name starts with a"B" but her grandfather's first name didn't start with"B. She kept it in back of her rocking chair. Which is why there are scratches on the right side of the trunk. There are some holes that appear to have had brass tacks in them at some point, ... morebut they don't line up with the tacks that are currently there. It looks like someone may have taken the original tacks off and put these on. I'm wondering if there was an early refinishing of the trunk which may have required the tacks to be removed and then replaced. You'll notice that there are missing tacks on the front near the latch and one missing on top of the trunk. There are very old pads on the bottom of the trunk. Most of the hardware appears original. One of the hinges on the back is still attached entirely with old rose head nails. There are several newer(but still old) screws that have been used in repairing or reinforcing the trunk and its hardware. The wrought iron handles are period. The trunk has a nice honey color. The interior is heavily soiled and I didn't attempt to clean it as I wanted to preserve the paper lining. It's approximately 24" wide by 12" in diameter. Antique mahogany inlaid travel dresser case, chest 1700's? 1800's
Here we have today is a lovely antique mahogany travel dresser case. Chest from sometime between the 1700's-1800's. Not sure of the true age of the piece or where it was made, it just came with a note which read Georgian mahogany dressing case c 1780. Case has nice wood inlaid, it is 13 1/2" long, 10 1/2" wide and 7" tall. Piece has a main compartment with removal mirror, eight in laid boxes, two glass jars and lots of storage space. There is one main tray that can be removed. There is a bottom drawer which opens up and has a top lid. I could not get the drawer to go all the way back in and there is a crack to the wood bottom of the drawer. The lining of the case is cracked, all of the boxes are in good aged condition, no cracks to the removable boxes, the glass bottles have no cracks, there are some small chips to ... morethe edges, the mirror is in really good condition for it's age, and the pin cushion and other fabric covered pieces have wear, rips and spotting to the fabric. Box shows average wear for it's age, There is some inlaid missing from the top, there is a crack along the top, scuffs and scratches, but everything is tight and nothing is coming apart. The brass handles are tight and box once had a lock to it, but the key is long gone. There is a chip to the bottom front edge of the box, and fading to the wood at the ends of the box. This case is still a really nice antique piece which would be a great addition to anyone's collection. Antique 1800's Primitive Wood Immigrant Chest Travel Steamer Treasure Trunk with steamed original wood handles. Good condition for age. Worn and distressed from age and use with some cracks in the wood. Missing one roller wheel on bottom. Scuffs and scratches. Has decorative paper over the outer trunk and is stained and missing some of the paper. No key. Someone has added wall paper on the inside. The picture is original. There's a small typed letter that has been added as well. Trunk measures approx. 23 3/4" wide not counting the handles x 15" tall x 13 1/2" deep. Sold as is as found with no warranty's.
