Up for auction is a Late 1800's Numbered ANTIQUE LEATHEROID trunk NUMBERED 6065. Made by the Leatheroid Manufacturing Company. This is a historic company with an impressive history. IT IS A VICTORIAN ERA STEEL LINED TRUNK IN GOOD CONDITION. It has AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY stamped on the top of the TRUNK so I'm guessing it was owned and used by the company. The inside still has the felt like lining that has some kind of staining that you can see in the photos. The bottom has a hole in the leatheroid that measures 4"x3" It doesn't go all the way through because of the steel lining which you can see in the photos. There is a partial label or stamp on the top with American Bank Note Company printed on it. Still has all of its original locks. But no key. Vintage Antique Wooden flat top steamer trunk. It measures more than 34" in length by just over 18" wide and a little more than 21" height and weighs almost 35 lbs. This MidCentury trunk is a stained with dark mahogany stain color and is very sturdy and usable. The Corners are coupled with heavy aluminum edges. and there are typical dings and dents. Scratches and scuffs due to age and use. There is little to no musty smell, at least is not saturated with odor/scent- will spray with Apple Cider vinegar to help neutralize naturally. Not sure of what type of wood- but there are additional carved wood bumpers on outer sides this Shabby Cottage Chic piece~ This trunk is antique and old- and has original small cast-steel wheels. All 4 are present and rolls fine. One hinge that is strong and holds up fine. Vintage 1800's Steel Distressed Extruded Travel Trunk Suitcase Antique Decor OLD
Payment by palpal only. An Old Rare"TWO BROTHERS' or Jones Brothers Steel Suitcase/Trunk. This piece was made in England in about 1880 give or take a decade. Antiques just don't get much more rustic than this old trunk. We have had the trunk for more than 15 years& used it to store Xmas decorations. I decided that I was getting too old to tote an 18 1/2 lb storage box. A plastic tub works great. It is about 28 1/2' X 16' X 9 1/2' as stated weights 18 lbs 8 oz. You had better be in good condition to fill this old trunk with clothing. There was a long walk from the coach to the pier. The 6 studs on the top serve 3 or 4 function. Stability. Decoration, to discourage people from setting on the trunk& I saw this in an old ad on the net) to turn the trunk on the top& with a rope on the handle to pull the trunk ... moreon smooth surfaces. And it was extruded in the irregular pattern for strength& eye appeal. But I could not find another case like this one. Note the damage to the corner pointed out in the 3rd picture. This does not not take anything away from the eye appeal of the trunk. The bottom outside has a lot of surface rust& the bottom inside some surface rust. And some rust throughout the piece. But its still good for another 100 years if kept dry. The lock should work with the right key. Or you can put a padlock on it as intended. And as shown it is banged up here& there. But it outta be seeing as it is 130+ years old& was meant to be used. Refer to Images for further details It will be boxed& protected for its next journey. THANK YOU! This listing is for a metal hanger. This is a great very well designed hanger that may date from the 1920s-40s. It has marked Hutchins Manufacturing Buffalo New York. It has a very simple efficient design with a metal clasp on the end which closes the hanger tight possibly on the end of pants to hang them straight upside down. In my research I have not been able to find anything similar so my best guess is that it was a travel accessory or possibly for a trunk. The hanger is 10 inch long and 1 inch wide with the hanger part folded down. Condition as per pictures. This would make an excellent addition to any collection. Small Antique Wooden Stagecoach Trunk-Steel Bands-Marked "Darlington CH, SC"
Offered is this small antique wooden trunk with black-painted steel bands and hardware. The trunk measures approx. 25" across. 14 1/2" deep and 12" high with the lid closed. From its smaller size I would guess this was probably used on a stagecoach or possibly a delivery wagon? The trunk is in good condition. The wood has a somewhat"weathered" look but is not as light as it looks in some of the photos. There are some age cracks in the wood. Especially near the back of the lid, but everything is solid. There are of course numerous scrapes and marks from use. The handles are no longer present and it looks as if there was a small name plaque in the center of the lid. Now gone. The steel bands and other hardware. With the exception of the hinges, look to be original, and the replacement hinges match well(see photo#10) ... moreThe back portion of the band on the right side of the lid is missing. The trunk no longer latches or locks. One of the thin boards attached to the bottom is loose but still connected. The inside of the trunk has been nicely fixed up. Lined with a blue patterned cloth and gold cord(see photo#8) Probably the most interesting thing about this trunk is the bottom. It is marked with several names. Towns and other things. To me it looks like it says"Charles J. Dilling& Co. or possibly"Charles Willing& Co. and below that. Darlington CH SC" At the top the words are less clear. It looks like it says"$15" Then a name; somebody"Watt" maybe? After that I see" Wilmington" See photo#7. Darlington SC was founded in 1835 and according to its website"grew up around the courthouse" I'm guessing the town was originally called"Darlington Court House" and this dates to the early days of the town. Maybe as early as the 1840s-1850s? Although I have found references to both a Charles Dilling and a Charles Willing in South Carolina's past.
