Still has the original paper label from the READING STEAMER TRUNK COMPANY, the makers of the trunk. Includes key that operates the lock correctly. But the lock latch bows outward from body of trunk. I haven't attempted to push the lock mechanism in to see if the lock latches the entire trunk, leaving that for the new owner to decide what to do. Side latches function correctly, securing the lid. All hardware appears to be intact and complete. Leather side handle straps are intact and secure, but they do have lots of surface cracking wear. Green and Black trunk with wood details. Includes original cardboard tray insert. The right side has a cardboard ... morelid cover. But that is bent, creased, torn at hinge, basically shot. Interior paper litho has water staining inside trnnk, and inside lid. Has some general scratch wear, surface wear from use. Some dents to the metal hardware, one left corner piece is banged up. Victorian Steamer Trunk 34 x 22.5 H x 19 This is a versatile and attractive true antique from the late 19th century. A medium-sized Victorian steamer trunk made of wood, trimmed with tin and steel hardware, and featuring a flat lid. It’s 34 inches wide and 22.5 inches tall– perfect for a coffee table, lamp table, or bedroom storage. The trunk is constructed of a pine box with hardwood slats across the top and around all four sides. The interior has been completely cleaned and refinished with a reproduction Victorian lithograph inside the lid. The hinges are tight and the lid fits securely when closed. Yet opens easily. The hasp on the right side does not lock, but does not compromise the closed lid. Although there is no key, the lock appears to be in good working condition and a local locksmith could provide a replacement key, if desired. ... moreThe restoration features new stitched leather handles(mounted with the original end caps) and matching leather belts with brass buckles to replicate the originals. Antique Beautifully Refinished Steamer Trunk Chest w/Straps, Key, and Tray
Beautifully Refinished slight arched Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key. Straps, Buckles, and Interior Tray Here is a really nice. Beautifully refinished slight arched top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. This steamer truck has a very slight factory arch to the top, which may be noticeable in the close up side view picture. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 inches, from floor to top is 20 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash outer slat boards. The wood is in nice condition and has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older distress marks including some older nicks and dings on the wood along with a few stress cracks. This great trunk has a nice ... moreamount of metal hardware. The metal is not brass and has been brush painted it by hand in black and gold leaf. A nice feature on this trunk is the original lock that does work and has a key. The front latches are also original and in good working condition since the springs are intact. This trunk has a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles running up the front and across the top and part way down the back in the same location where the original ones once were. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. Going to the interior, there is a very nice wood interior and tray, which has been given two coats of polyurethane. This truck would make great lifetime lasting gifts for loved ones on special occasions. It seems to be quite fashionable these days to own one of these forefathers' refinished trunks. There are quite a few influential people purchasing these nowadays. This trunk can be passed down to future generations, kind of like an heirloom or special piece of furniture. Has always been stored inside. Minor flaws on surface and inside. One leather handle is missing and has been replaced with a rope style handle. Also. This is a nice vintage steamer trunk with a long lock in a brick red color. U fortunately. The trunk i s actually locked and there is no key. I closed the latch. Not knowing that it would lock. Condition- Good with typical signs of usage. Such as dings and dents, mainly on the top. No rust issues on the gold metal. Inside is very clean and nice with no odors, rips or tears, I peeked in before I closed the lid. Would be a nice trunk for someone that is familiar with locks and could open it. This is a Lovely Original Antique Steamer Trunk. Offered at a Low Start ~ With No Reserve* Made of Waxed Canvas on Wood. This is an unusual Steamer Trunk, being Taller than the normal Trunk, which has Super Details. With Contrasting Corners on the Beech Runners. And a matching Central Stripe. The Runners and the whole trunk are studded with Brass details. I have Spent time restoring the Trunk to it's former Glory. Leaving just enough of a hint of Character, that only years of Travelling can bring. To the Edges are Beautiful Brass Bindings. With Two Locks and a Central Catch. Which work well, although one lock is a little sticky, and the catch has the opposite problem, but the lid of the trunk holds happily. A Ladycomet Refinished Flat Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key&Tray
Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Original Multi Divided Tray Here is a great refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900 or so. We are calling it a flat top although there is a very slight factory arch. These are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. The wood is in pretty good condition although there are some typicl distress marks or character marks. These include older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. Just about all of ... morethe trunks that we refinish have some of these older distress marks. This one comes with the original working lock. We did find a key that will activate the lock mechanism. The front latches are original and work ok since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass. If they were, we would have semi polished them. Very seldom do you come across an American made trunk that has all brass hardware. The metal parts on this trunk have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This lovely trunk would make a great gift for a loved one on any special occasion. The new owner could store their personal belongings and collectibles inside the trunk and later in life pass it down to the future generations. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining since it was worn out looking. We then have given the interior wood two coats of polyurethane. This trunk come with the original multi divided tray that rests at the top edge. Store items in this tray, then lift it up and put more items deep inside the trunk. Antique Vintage Large Black Wooden Steamer Trunk Storage Chest
Large Antique or Vintage Trunk. In good condition. Made of wood painted black on outside and has paper lining on inside. Measure 36" wide. 24" tall, 22" front to back. Leather handles on sides are torn off and need replacements. Has metal corners, brackets, hinges, lock. Lock is an'Eagle Lock' with no key included, and unure if it will work. Has some kind of hard leather or hide like material around edges. Has an identification sticker on top which cant be fully read, but is shown in photos. Can only make out location, Newark NJ, and above that the last 3 letters of name'ard' Paper lining on inside in poor shape and metal bracket on inside, that holds top lid from swinging to far back, is broken and needs replacement. Dimensions are 31" L) x 17" W) x 13" H) Former owner's name has been stamped on the trunk lid and on the back of the trunk. The leather handle on one side is cracked and broken. On the other side it is missing. There is no key. There is one piece of metal hardware missing above the lock. There is a removable wood insert that rests in top of trunk. Exterior shows surface marks, scuffs, aged patina from use. Metal hardware has paint wear and some areas of surface rust where paint is worn off. Bottom underside of trunk has several areas where outer surface material is cracked, see pics for condition.
