Large Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Manufacturer's Tag. Straps& Buckles, and Original Interior Divided Tray Here we are offering a very large refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one is signed with the brass manufacturer's tag. It says. Overland Trunk" on the brass tag and we have shown a c lose up picture of this brass manufacturer's tag. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 41 inches. From floor to top is 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 22 1/2 inches. This is one of the largest trunks we have refinished this year, and it is a true flat top with no factory arch. This trunk is made up of the original brown laminate or composition exterior with the oak outer slat boards. The exterior has been given three coats of polyurethane by Minwax ... moreto preserve and protect the exterior. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass, except for the manufacturer's tag, and have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk originally had a pair of leather straps which have eroded away, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top in the very same location where the original ones once were. These straps are functional and when buckled, they help secure the trunk's top to it's base like the front latches do. The front latches are original and do work properly since the springs are intact. The edge banding and two bands running up the front and across the top are not metal. They are a pressed composition and we have left them in their brown color. This trunk comes with the original lock. It appears to be all intact. We were not able to match up a key. If you do match up a key, it does appear that this lock will work. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. A Quite Uncommon Crescent Top Stamped Tin on Wood Steamer Chest dating from the 1850's. This Unique Chest has been in one family since they came over from Scotland in the 1850's. Our belief is that it was made in London based on the construction technique and the stamping of the tin. We obtained it from a lady who was 87 years old and she stated that it was passed down from one family to the next over the years and as nobody in her family wanted it. She decided to sell it. The Chest measures 27 1/2" long by 14" wide and stands 17 1/2" in height. Condition is quite good considering its 160+ years of age. Some small surface rust, a musty small inside, one bottom corner of the tin has a small bend, paper lining worn, no key for the lock(we did not attempt to force it) normal wear, and one latch missing is just about it. ... moreBoth handles are present as are the very small bottom rollers. Fancy Refinished Flat Top Trunk Here we are offering a refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one has the brown original laminate finish between the slat boards on all four sides. It was missing on the top. So we have created a resin and kind of made our own laminate for the top and gave it the same brown color. If you look at some of the pictures of the top, you will see that the areas that we redid do have some slight pits and waviness to those sections. It's not a big deal, we just thought we should mention it. The outer slat boards look like ash and the edge banding appears to be made up of some type of compressed composition which we have left in it's brown color. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 34 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge ... moreto back edge is 20 1/2 inches. There is a lot of fancy metal parts on this trunk. They are not brass, so we have painted them by hand in gold leaf. This one comes with the original lock, although we do not have a key to make it work. It appears to be all there and maybe you can hook up with your locksmith and obtain a key for this lock. The front latches are original and they do work well since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the inside, we removed the interior lining and finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. We did put a new board over the top on the underside of the lid to make it more sturdy. A nice trunk maker's style picture has been added to this new top. This trunk could hold quite a few blankets and clothing articles. It would look nice sitting at the foot of the bed. It could also be used as a coffee table or end table. Recently, we have sold a couple of trunks that have been given by the parents to their adult children as they are moving off to college. They can pack their belongings inside and when they reach their dorm or apartment, they can use the trunk as a

This is a very unique trunk that I know nothing about. I could find none others like it online. I took as many pictures as possible to serve as the description. As I don't really know how to describe it. The hinges are made so that you can easily remove the top or open the top leaving it attached. It has 2 mini side doors that have locking hardware that opens easily with their spring mechanisms when you slide the little buttons to the right. I have no keys for this trunk. The main carrying handle is leather and is broken. There is leather on the corners of the trunk as well as rubber feet on the bottom and the side, so you can stand it up 2 ways. Antique victorian flat top 1880's steamer travel chest/trunk. It is all original. Inside and out. It has well defined clinched binding and oak slats. In between the oak slats it has the original brown canvas on wood. The original leather straps on each side are still present. The inside has the original lift out divided wood tray covered in paper. There is age wear to the paper. There are four wheels on the bottom edges. On the underside is stenciled lettering that says in part Manufactured expreslsy for R.H. Co. Up for sale is a very nice antique Victorian Steamer Trunk. It is in very good condition inside and out. The outside has very nice stamped flowers. Very nice woodwork, one leather strap is broken the other is good, the pictures say it all. The dimensions are 31 wide by 17.5 wide by 25 deep. The flower has Pat. A large wardrobe trunk made by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely well made. And equipped with beautiful oak slats and ball castors on the bottom end. This fine trunk is complete. Fully functional, and in excellent vintage condition. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. It comes with the original key. This rare American trunk was beautifully made in the same style of the famous much more expensive ones. Victorian Leather Steamer Trunk Antique Chest 1854 - 1860 Ex Original Features
Victorian Authentic Leather Steamer Trunk This 150-year-old antique leather-covered trunk dates to the 1850s or 1860s and is distinctive in its well-preserved tooled leather covering with diamond and square embossed designs. One of the larger trunks of its era. The leather dometop measures 34 inches long, 20 1/2 inches wide and stands 25 inches tall at the peak of its dome. The leather covering is in excellent condition. The interior is clean, and although it is heavy, it rolls easily on two original and two replacement rollers. Importantly. The original leather handles are in excellent condition- a rare find for any antique trunk- and it features the authentic working key for the brass locking plate. The trunk originated in Lovell. Mass. and in its original condition featured two interior trays covered with paper, a paper-covered interior ... morelid compartment with drop down stationery door, and Victorian lithographs. The artwork on the lid compartment door showed a couple dancing in a rural outdoor setting. The other lid art depicted four ladies in Victorian gowns, presumably attending a dance or party. Unfortunately, the condition of the paper lining could not preserve the original artwork, but photocopies of the lithographs and blue ribbon trim are included in this sale and could be used for reattachment, if desired. The trunk’s exterior had two leather belts and buckles(one leather strap is missing- the trunk's only flaw) and a working brass lock plate and key. A tag about the size of a business card and bearing the name of perhaps the last owner was tacked to one end. The tag was penned by hand and read: Mrs. Wm W. West St. Louis Missouri When the tag was removed. The reverse side was imprinted with the name"Chauncey, 10 Dearborn Street, in script type. But the remainder of the address, if any, is missing. This could be the trunk’s manufacturer. Or just a merchant’s card that Mrs. Smith used to label her trunk for identification. Eveleigh Baggage Canada's best since 1870" Under the outer lid, there is an insert which reveals the main compartment when removed. Trunk is fully intact except the centre buckle needs repairing. One rear hinge needs tightening, the right-side leather strap is torn. Otherwise this is in great shape inside and out. Please take a look at the pictures to determine condition! This trunk is from the late 1920's, very clean, comes from a smoke free& pet free home. Outer dimensions are approx. 36" wide x 23" high x 21" deep There is very little information available about this company. It seems that one John Eveleigh was born in Hereford. England in 1765, moving to Ireland ... morewhere all of his children were born before emigrating to Montreal, Quebec. One of his descendants, Joseph, remained in this city and founded the luggage company in 1870. In the days of lengthy travel by steamship and rail, there was obviously a huge demand for traveler's trunks. As the automobile and then the aircraft gained ascendancy as a mode of travel, luggage needs changed and perhaps Eveleigh did not adapt to this. The company was bought out in 1957 by the J.E. Lortie Company, also of Montreal, which had begun in 1892 as a saddlery business, eventually turning to the manufacture of leather pole-climbing belts and straps needed by workers erecting the the rapidly expanding electricity and telegraph lines. The Lortie company went on to manufacture canvas goods such as dunnage bags and army webbing during World War II, to which they added the Eveleigh product line when they acquired that company. Today, Lortie is known as Jelco, and specializes in fall-protection equipment. I will be listing a number of various pieces from 1930's-1970's. What a great look and style on this antique trunk chest. Has beautiful grain and patina on the wood strips and has nice leather and metal accents all over. Perfect size. Lot of Doll and Steamer Trunks for Dollhouse in 1/12 scale. Lot includes: 5 1/2 inch lady/girl doll carrying her purse and satchel with holds her bird watching book. She is dressed for comfort and has her binoculars around her neck. Doll stand is included. 3 inch long brown wood trunk with lift out tray. Inside is a pocket watch or compass. Shoe boxes and 2 fake turtleneck sweaters. 4 inch tall green steamer trunk with built in drawers. A non-opening box below and hangers on a rod. I believe the doll is hand made. I AM ESTIMATING THIS TRUNK TO HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE LATE 1800'S. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE WAS IN THE EARLY 1900'S. NOTICEABLE ISSUES WOULD BE ONE OF THE 4 SMALL ROLLERS ON THE BOTTOM HAS BROKEN OFF. THE CHAIN TO SUPPORT THE LID IS MISSING. VIEWING THE 1ST PHOTO. THE LATCH ON THE LEFT SIDE FLIPS UP BUT DOESN'T CATCH THE MATING PART. THERE MAY BE LITTLE BUMPS, SCRATCHES OR A LOOSE SCREW BUT THIS ITEM IS IN VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION. THE METAL I BELIEVE IS TIN WHICH HAS BEEN BLACKENED. THE WOOD APPEARS TO BE STURDY AND ORIGINAL. THE COMPARTMENT FITS SNUG BUT LIFTS OUT USING 2 HOLES ON THE INSIDE AT THE TOP. THE PAPER COVERING MOST OF THE INNER SURFACES HAS A LAVENDER SMELL. IN THE 2ND TO LAST PHOTO YOU CAN SEE A PIECE OF THIN WOOD WHICH HAS BEEN COVERED WITH PAPER. Antique Wardrobe Travel Chest Steamer Trunk without key- Maker Unknown. Leather handle has what looks like WR-6 stamped into it. As seen in last 2 pictures is the damage noted below. Inside trunk- Pull down drawer on inside hinges have torn loose from the lid. Outside trunk- Has scratches and scrape marks and a couple chips in the wood.

Rare, Clean Antique Hat Trunk, Half Trunk, Steamer Trunk, Small Trunk , Chest
This is a rare. Meticulously restored hat trunk with its original canvas cover and heavy duty leather handles. It measures 24 X 21 X 19 inches and has its original working lock with key. On the inside of the lid, there is an old repair, made with tin, that is strong and tight. It has a tag(which will be enclosed in the trunk when shipped) from the Vanderbilt Hotel in New York. The trunk was owned by a Mr. Lew Sturdevant. These smaller trunks, those that aren't moldy and in disrepair, but are clean, strong and ready to use, are very difficult to find and have the versatility that larger trunks don't have as they can be moved by one person and don't take up a lot of space. The hardware is all original, brass plated, ... morebut the brass is pretty much worn off. The trunk was originally green and has been painstakingly painted with two coats of premium oil based paint. Here we have a wonderful antique wooden pine steamer trunk or chest in used antique condition. Probably from the late 1800's.Looks just like it could be a pirate chest. Or maybe it was a stagecoach trunk in the wild west. Would make a terrific movie. Play, bar, or restaurant prop. Made of metal and wood. Very beautiful. Antique Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk Circa 1867. The interior label reads: And At 289 Oxford Street, Regent Circus London. There is some paper peeling on the interior, there are some tears, there is some water damage to the wood(mostly to the paper(peeling/bubbling) There are a few rips in the fabric lining as well. There is a crack on the interior bottom of the wood, there are also some vintage stickers on the exterior. This trunk is a fantastic piece, anyone would be lucky to have it. It comes from a smoke free home. Serial# 11088(or 11087, the last number has faded a bit and I can't tell which it is) This trunk measures: 22" high x 43.5" long x 22.5" wide Must be able to pick up in Conord. NH.
