You are bidding on a Rare to find piece of History; an original(Not ... morea Reproduction) Vintage Hirschfelder and Meaney Steamer Trunk/Chest that measures approximately 38” x 22” x 26” An early to mid 1920 Hirschfelder& Meaney US made cabin trunk with studded and gilded metal corners and iron clasps. Hinged to reveal a fitted dimension as shown above. We searched extensively on the internet to find information about this piece of history and all we could find is as explained below: Hirschfelder& Meaney was established in 1893. With offices and salesrooms at No. 22 Sutter Street. Its factory was located at Twentieth and Florida streets in San Francisco and covers an area of eleven thousand square feet. The San Francisco Call Newspaper of November 16th 1911 listed their address to be on 519 Market Street and another internet search revealed they moved to Battery Street around 1913. Hirschfelder& Meaney was also listed in the 1926 San Francisco chamber of commerce publication as a chest maker with address at 36 battery street San Francisco. Earlier edition of same publication published in 1910 listed same company’s address to be 519 Market Street There are documentations published between 1910 and 1926 that made reference to this company. I have not seen any reference to the company after 1926. This however does not mean one is not out there and for this reason we listed this chest as mid to early 1920. Please do your research to get more information about this vintage chest. We have supplied all the information we had as of the time of listing. 1900's Antique Yale & Towne Steamer Trunk Chest Wood Leather Brass
This is a great antique trunk that at one time was used by Lumpee& Russ Harness Makers; I cannot make out the rest of the wording. The trunk is structurally solid. The valet tray has two holes but this could be nicely refinished. The top tray has two sections with one that does have the leather/button loop closure intact. There is no key in the locking mechanism that was made by Yale Towne MFG out of Stamford. Conn. It weighs just under 55 pounds. This is being sold as is. If you live on the I-5 corridor on the west coast(Washington, Oregon and California) I have a shipper. Antique Victorian Slightly Arched Wood Slat Steamer Trunk Chest
Up For Sale is this awesome antique trunk. It has M.F.M. initialed on the side. The trunk is very solid and has a lot of character. It is a green color. It only has a slight arch on the top. So it would be great for a coffee table or to store blankets and such. It is good shape for the time and could be easily restored. There is no structural damage. The only damage is that on of the latches is missing some pieces and the leather is worn. Both of the handles are intact, but as you can see in the photo one is coming apart. 1920's OSHKOSH STEAMER WARDROBE TRAVEL TRUNK CHEST Ironing Board PIN CUSHION
Stands about 42 tall x 26 x 23 inches. It has a last patent date of 1923. It has six drawers. One drawer has an iron holder insert and there is also an original large pin cushion that came with this trunk. Each drawer is unique with various partitions and tie downs. There are telescoping rods for the many various original hangers. There is also a removable latching box. Pretty clean inside with very light wear. The top leather handle is broke. Some minor scuffs, scratches, paint drops present. No holes or big dents. The key lock looks as if it was pried open, but it still latches the trunk shut when rotated. No key. weighs around 90 pounds. You can set up the shipping if you would like, and i could pacakage it for a small fee.

A Ladycomet Refinished Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key
Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Hidden Interior Compartment Area Here is a beautiful refinished dome top trunk from the late 1800's that we have just finished up on. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 1/2 inches. We removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards, and the dome top looks like early birch ply. We have prepared and finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve it and make it nice. The wood is in decent condition considering the age of this trunk, and you can see some saw blade marks on the ... moreboards at the front of the trunk which are from the rough cut lumber which was used on this trunk back in the 1800's. This trunk maker put a nice amount of fancy hardware on this dome top. All of the metal parts which are on this trunk are not brass. We have brush painted the metal parts by hand in black and gold leaf. There are some patent dates on the fancy cap metal near the dome. It is hard to make out the exact date, although we have shown a close up picture of this patent date. We have given this trunk a lock off of a parts trunk since it was missing the lock when we purchased it. The lock we installed does work properly and comes with the appropriate key. The front latches are original on this trunk and do work ok since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, this trunk has a nice feature which is the hidden compartment are on the underside of the dome. We have recreated the door that drops down to show this area. What a find! Old steamer trunk. Please examine the photos closely. The trunk is definitely showing its age. leather handles on the side are toast but they are still there. Lock bears the eagle lock co name. It is wood and tin. Lots of tin covers most of the chest and it is adorned with the pattern you see. It has lots of character! 34" x 17.25" x 18" There is rust. There is worn/missing tin etc. I did not attempt to clean etc and have not even carried it by it's handles, I hold the whole thing. The little wheels on the bottom are janky but they work and moved around easy surprisingly. Anyone who has more information on this trunk that I could add would be appreciated. Antique Steamer Canvas Covered Flat Top Chest/Trunk Circa 1880-1910 with Keyhole
This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. This dome top camel back steamer trunk circa 1800s has been beautifully restored outside. The interior remains as original. For 40 years at least this trunk has stored extra items in a guest bedroom. The great storage without smells or moisture will be missed. The approximate dimensions are: 30” length. 17” width, 24” height. This trunk has all the original hardware except that one latch is missing the bail. The lock fastens but needs a key. Characteristics of Hartmann We are offering for sale an extremely RARE& UNIQUE fine stateroom steamer trunk. Came from an older Central Pennsylvania estate. Trunk has previous owners initials H L B. Exact age and origin unknown but believe to be from the early 1900s. 1877: Hartmann Inc. was founded in Milwaukee. Wisconsin by Bavarian Trunk maker, Joseph S. Hartmann. 1905: Mr. Hartmann had a vision to build"luggage so fine it will stand as a symbol of excellence. Because of his vision. The company grew rapidly and moved to larger facilities in Racine, Wisconsin. This trunk has early Hartmann trademark cloverleaf hardware. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. This may be the only one is existence. VERY RARE Quality constructed. Trunk interior is fitted with American golden oak and cast brass ornate pulls with drop front hat box ... morearea that can be used as a desk. Exterior is fitted with rose and silver colored cloverleaf hardware(corners are cast iron and the rest of the hardware is nickel plated brass? which I believe the cloverleaf hardware was characteristic of early Hartmann. Canvas appears to have been a deep mahogany that has darkened over the years from the smoke of coal fired trains and ocean liners. Nice shaped edging of wild boar hide(pig skin) and fine brass tacking. The skin from a boar was tougher and thicker than other animals. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. The latch is marked Everwear TTC3 and Corbin made in USA. Stately Travel Chest Wardrobe Trunk These early trunks are very rare and hard to find and are as good as. Large Storage Steamer Trunk,Travel Chest,Early 1900's Los Angeles pickup
Here is a vintage steamer trunk. Measures 39" long. 20" wide, 21" tall. Does not have a key. All parts are attached as shown in photo. Belonged to my grandmother who came to this country from Austria in 1910 so this trunk is at least 104 years old. Needs some restoration as shown in photos. Blue sides is some type of cloth material over wood. the bottom panel is metal as shown in photo. Hinges came loose and need to be attached. The wood shelf insert is cracked, but repairable. Beautiful Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Interior Tray Here is a really fancy beautiful refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely hump back chest is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are typical older distress marks on the wood which include older scratches and nicks in various places, although the chest is very sturdy and can be sat upon the top if you want to do so. This trunk maker put a lot of nice metal hardware on this trunk. The metal parts that make up this trunk ... moreare not brass, therefore we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. This trunk also comes with the original patent dated working lock. This is the first time out of well over a thousand trunks that we have had this style of lock. It is patent dated on the key hole cover which is the only brass part on this trunk that we have semi polished. It reads, Pat Mar 69& Apr 77" There is a close up picture showing these dates. We did match up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. You can lock your belongings inside this beautiful trunk away from others. The front latches are original cast iron nice ones that still work since the springs are still intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a tray or insert for this trunk. It rests at the top edge where the original one once did. The interior wood and tray have received two coats of polyurethane. We did leave the fancy paper border in place on the underside of the dome and we added two nice trunk maker's style pictures to the underside of the dome. Considering how old this trunk is, the interior is in pretty good condition.

Charming Early Primitive Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk Here is a nice refinished flat top steamer trunk from the mid to late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 16 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 1/2 inches. This one is a more primitive style trunk in which there is more wood showing and less fancy metal hardware. This one still has the Jenny Lind influence in which there are the small brass rosettes or buttons on the thin metal banding at the sides. The trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards on the top. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older nicks and dings on the wood in various places. This trunk comes with the original lock which has been remounted ... morewith screws. The lock does not work since the top engagement piece or latch that swings down into the lock is missing. The lock is AS IS since this part is missing. The side handles have some wear, but were in good enough condition to keep. They are brown leather stitched straps. This trunk might serve nicely as a coffee table since it does have a flat top. A real common way to use a trunk like this is to store clothing and other personal belongings within it, especially in a bedroom at the foot of the bed. Going to the interior, the wood is totally rough cut boards. There was glue residue on these boards which held the paper lining in place. The glue residue was light colored, so we had to stain the interior wood dark to try to cover up the lighter glue areas. The interior is dark colored with some glue areas showing and has rough cut boards. A nice picture of a girl holding her pet cat has been added to the underside of the top.
