Here is an antique steamer trunk. Good condition for its age. Inside tray missing. Metal folding brace needs work. No keys(locks not functioning anyway) one leather handle ripped. Displays very nicely, good for blanket/pillow storage. Not sure what the ornate metal material is maybe copper or brass. Black spots on inside ARE NOT mold but rather rust on backside of rivets. These fancy dome top trunks were generally bridal trunks. This trunk was refinished at some point in its life having a very clean exterior finish that looks nice. The interior is super clean wood with no odors or uglies. Condition is as shown a solid trunk that has a lot of life left in it. Both leather handles are in place. The clip locks on each side of the front are in place and working to securely close the trunk. The lock plate does not have the tongue to lock the chest but we have no key so its best. The bottom of the trunk has NO rot or damages it is very clean as well. There are some fine separations in the thin refinished wood ... morethat covers the wooden body on the dome portion. Measuring 24ins( 61 cms) high x 24ins(61cms) wide x 18ins(4 6 cms) deep. It is a traditionally constructed'sailor's' chest with a pine body, having part iron banding and corner protectors with brass studded wooden batons. There is an old iron handle at both ends and a central clasp and lock. Internally it is still lined with the original paper lining and has a removable half height divider in the middle. This chap has been around since before the Boer War and! Originally it was canvas covered. This has now been removed and the underlying pine has been prepared and waxed, as have the batons and brass studs. There ... moreare.Of course, a myriad of very characteful nicks, dinks and scars. Dents, scratches and so on over most of the piece and some of the metal work is missing and/or battered with remanants of paintwork on it, but its all characterful! There is a repaired.And now solid, small hole at the back by the right hand side hinge, the screws in the hinges are replacement ones, there are one or two woodworm holes from some long since deceased worms and there is no key for the lock. Also the internal paper is tatty, scuffed and torn and badly stained, but still dry and perfectly usable. For as accurate a representation/description as possible. 1900's Antique Yale & Towne Steamer Trunk Chest Wood Leather Brass
This is a great antique trunk that at one time was used by Lumpee& Russ Harness Makers; I cannot make out the rest of the wording. The trunk is structurally solid. The valet tray has two holes but this could be nicely refinished. The top tray has two sections with one that does have the leather/button loop closure intact. There is no key in the locking mechanism that was made by Yale Towne MFG out of Stamford. Conn. It weighs just under 55 pounds. This is being sold as is. If you live on the I-5 corridor on the west coast(Washington, Oregon and California) I have a shipper. She said she wants to give it to a good home and she recovered it from a area in Youngs Town Ohio and in the bottom in between some material ... morewas a newspaper clipping from 1906. Youngs town was a mafia town with deep deep history and great hidden wealth through various means, how this was acquired there I have no idea, but there was a lot of money there and a pirates chest with deep history rested there and changed hands and now its mine. Antique Victorian Slightly Arched Wood Slat Steamer Trunk Chest
Up For Sale is this awesome antique trunk. It has M.F.M. initialed on the side. The trunk is very solid and has a lot of character. It is a green color. It only has a slight arch on the top. So it would be great for a coffee table or to store blankets and such. It is good shape for the time and could be easily restored. There is no structural damage. The only damage is that on of the latches is missing some pieces and the leather is worn. Both of the handles are intact, but as you can see in the photo one is coming apart. 1920's OSHKOSH STEAMER WARDROBE TRAVEL TRUNK CHEST Ironing Board PIN CUSHION
Stands about 42 tall x 26 x 23 inches. It has a last patent date of 1923. It has six drawers. One drawer has an iron holder insert and there is also an original large pin cushion that came with this trunk. Each drawer is unique with various partitions and tie downs. There are telescoping rods for the many various original hangers. There is also a removable latching box. Pretty clean inside with very light wear. The top leather handle is broke. Some minor scuffs, scratches, paint drops present. No holes or big dents. The key lock looks as if it was pried open, but it still latches the trunk shut when rotated. No key. weighs around 90 pounds. You can set up the shipping if you would like, and i could pacakage it for a small fee.

A Ladycomet Refinished Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key
Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Hidden Interior Compartment Area Here is a beautiful refinished dome top trunk from the late 1800's that we have just finished up on. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 1/2 inches. We removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards, and the dome top looks like early birch ply. We have prepared and finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve it and make it nice. The wood is in decent condition considering the age of this trunk, and you can see some saw blade marks on the ... moreboards at the front of the trunk which are from the rough cut lumber which was used on this trunk back in the 1800's. This trunk maker put a nice amount of fancy hardware on this dome top. All of the metal parts which are on this trunk are not brass. We have brush painted the metal parts by hand in black and gold leaf. There are some patent dates on the fancy cap metal near the dome. It is hard to make out the exact date, although we have shown a close up picture of this patent date. We have given this trunk a lock off of a parts trunk since it was missing the lock when we purchased it. The lock we installed does work properly and comes with the appropriate key. The front latches are original on this trunk and do work ok since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, this trunk has a nice feature which is the hidden compartment are on the underside of the dome. We have recreated the door that drops down to show this area. What a find! Old steamer trunk. Please examine the photos closely. The trunk is definitely showing its age. leather handles on the side are toast but they are still there. Lock bears the eagle lock co name. It is wood and tin. Lots of tin covers most of the chest and it is adorned with the pattern you see. It has lots of character! 34" x 17.25" x 18" There is rust. There is worn/missing tin etc. I did not attempt to clean etc and have not even carried it by it's handles, I hold the whole thing. The little wheels on the bottom are janky but they work and moved around easy surprisingly. Anyone who has more information on this trunk that I could add would be appreciated. Antique Steamer Canvas Covered Flat Top Chest/Trunk Circa 1880-1910 with Keyhole
This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. The inside has the pins left for holding the cloth that used to be inside. It would make a great antique collector's addition, or could even be made into a table! Restored 1800s Antique Camel Back Dome Top Steamer Trunk Chest
This dome top camel back steamer trunk circa 1800s has been beautifully restored outside. The interior remains as original. For 40 years at least this trunk has stored extra items in a guest bedroom. The great storage without smells or moisture will be missed. The approximate dimensions are: 30” length. 17” width, 24” height. This trunk has all the original hardware except that one latch is missing the bail. The lock fastens but needs a key. The outside is all original except for the black paint has been redone and the wood and metal cleaned and preserved. The inside tray is missing. This trunk offers great storage and charm.

Rare Hartmann Vintage Stateroom Antique Travel Steamer Trunk Wardrobe Chest
Characteristics of Hartmann We are offering for sale an extremely RARE& UNIQUE fine stateroom steamer trunk. Came from an older Central Pennsylvania estate. Trunk has previous owners initials H L B. Exact age and origin unknown but believe to be from the early 1900s. 1877: Hartmann Inc. was founded in Milwaukee. Wisconsin by Bavarian Trunk maker, Joseph S. Hartmann. 1905: Mr. Hartmann had a vision to build"luggage so fine it will stand as a symbol of excellence. Because of his vision. The company grew rapidly and moved to larger facilities in Racine, Wisconsin. This trunk has early Hartmann trademark cloverleaf hardware. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. This may be the only one is existence. VERY RARE Quality constructed. Trunk interior is fitted with American golden oak and cast brass ornate pulls with drop front hat box ... morearea that can be used as a desk. Exterior is fitted with rose and silver colored cloverleaf hardware(corners are cast iron and the rest of the hardware is nickel plated brass? which I believe the cloverleaf hardware was characteristic of early Hartmann. Canvas appears to have been a deep mahogany that has darkened over the years from the smoke of coal fired trains and ocean liners. Here is a vintage steamer trunk. Measures 39" long. 20" wide, 21" tall. Does not have a key. All parts are attached as shown in photo. Belonged to my grandmother who came to this country from Austria in 1910 so this trunk is at least 104 years old. Needs some restoration as shown in photos. Blue sides is some type of cloth material over wood. the bottom panel is metal as shown in photo. Hinges came loose and need to be attached. The wood shelf insert is cracked, but repairable. Beautiful Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Interior Tray Here is a really fancy beautiful refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely hump back chest is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are typical older distress marks on the wood which include older scratches and nicks in various places, although the chest is very sturdy and can be sat upon the top if you want to do so. This trunk maker put a lot of nice metal hardware on this trunk. The metal parts that make up this trunk ... moreare not brass, therefore we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. This trunk also comes with the original patent dated working lock. This is the first time out of well over a thousand trunks that we have had this style of lock. It is patent dated on the key hole cover which is the only brass part on this trunk that we have semi polished. It reads, Pat Mar 69& Apr 77" There is a close up picture showing these dates. We did match up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. You can lock your belongings inside this beautiful trunk away from others. The front latches are original cast iron nice ones that still work since the springs are still intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a tray or insert for this trunk. It rests at the top edge where the original one once did. The interior wood and tray have received two coats of polyurethane. We did leave the fancy paper border in place on the underside of the dome and we added two nice trunk maker's style pictures to the underside of the dome. Considering how old this trunk is, the interior is in pretty good condition.
