But I am having a really hard time deciphering it, it appears to be someone's name and then a place in New York. The trunk does have railroad transportation labels on both sides of the trunk. The trunk does have some wear as you can see, original front lock hardware is missing and it does have surface loss. Some of the paint has alligatored a bit on the sides as you can see from the photos. Trunk measures 35.25 inches wide by 17.25 inches deep by 17 inches tall. It has labels for New York Central Railroad and Westcott express one side and the other side has a very partial label and from what I can tell it is in French. The front of the trunk may read Hauve(France)New York. I think this is a really nice piece, I think it has a good folk art look to it and great to find it with original green paint. Long before the days of recycling. This vintage 1800's pine trunk with rolled on finish was partially made from a striped pine barber shop sign. The entire front interior boards bare the original red, white blue and gold Barber Shop wood sign recycled and incorpoated in this pine trunk with rolled on grain finish including rolled on dowl pins in corners. It measures 48 by 26 by 24 inches and is in very good condition with cast metal handles. A small box is built into one edge of the trunk. Up for bid is a gorgeous. Rustic vintage steamer trunk. I am not sure about the brand or label. I am not sure about the age either,but as I researched and compared it to the other listings, I believe it is from the 1940's or earlier. The leather straps are broken, and they are almost entirely gone, but the hinges and latches are still attached.There is no key. Some of the metals are also present, but rusted. There is no tray inside. It seems that it used to be covered with canvas, but it is faded and almost entirely gone. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful rustic piece that can be a coffee table in its present, original state or when its restored. Great for a steam punk style project. For sale today is a very nicely restored medium size humpback trunk and the restoration turned out just great. I did not find any patent dates on the trunk and based on 40 years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1880's to 1890's which makes this great old humpback a 100 plus years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the bottom is solid. Has the original slats, the wood has multiple coats of paint applied and give two coats of clear. The four original metal wheels work well and the trunk rolls easily. There are three original hinges that are heavy duty, tight, polished, work well and the lid closes well. A new black leather lid lifter was installed. The original center lock has been polished, there is no key and the top half of the lock is missing. There are ... more35 plus pieces of polished hardware on the trunk. The two original mechanical latches are HD, fancy, polished and both work. The interior has been removed and the tray is long gone. All the metal/tin on the trunk is in VGC. Has the original metal lid stay and the lid closes well. A new black leather lid lifter was installed. The trunk has 12 original solid oak slats in a golden oak color. Two new black leather handles were installed with the original end caps. Antique Blue Steamer Trunk - Wooden Frame with Metal Corners & Braces
This is a nice bright blue steamer trunk. With metal corners, hardware and strapping. I believe the walls, bottom and lid are made of thin plywood with an exterior lining of sheet metal.Measuring about 29½" x 14½" and about 10¼" tall, it has a single leather or faux leather carrying handle on the front, right beside the lock. The inside is lined with paper printed with a wood grain design. I don't know the age of it, but it looks mid twentieth century, doesn't it? I also don't see any sign of manufacturer identification, and no labels to tell where it traveled. It has some surface scuffs and scratches. Especially on the top and bottom, in fact there are some distinct pressure dents around the edge of the lid, as shown in the third picture below. The originally outside canvas covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The lock does not have a key. The leather side handles are new. The bottom is clean. It has the original tray. This trunk 32" wide X 25" high X 19" deep. It has an unusual piece of embossed metal on top. The cost of packing. Rare. Heavy, original pair of gilded elephant bookends with their trunks raised up by Ronson. Circa 1930. This set is nicely detailed and in very good condition. It is quite large and heavy. Each bookend stands 7" tall, 6 1/2" long, 3 1/4" wide and weighs 3 lbs. 4 oz. 6 lbs. 8 oz. for the pair) They are in very good condition. The gold is intact indicating the quality of the finish. This is a great antique trunk that is all original. There is a name that was applied to the back of the trunk(previous owner? and buyer might want to do some restoration to that area and have that removed. Lid is very sturdy and this trunk is in it's original state and in extremely good condition and free of wood splits and gouges. Lid hinges are in great shape and trunk has dovetail seams. Antique Hartmann steamer trunk wardrobe drawers cloth early 1900's
For your consideration is an antique steamer trunk. Dates to the late 1800 to early 1900's. There are stickers on the truck. Which I did not remove. Germany and Scotland. Has a wonderful cloth pattern on the outside similar to L. Vitton trunks. Features 4 drawers and a wardrobe area to hang cloths. The drawers lock into place and are lined, wood on the outside. The top drawer has a key lock(not included) When you pull out the drawer, there is a leaver that you turn which unlocks the other drawers. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips ... moreit has taken over the years. This is a grand old Jenny Lind Travel Trunk that is made of pine wood and has iron latches and support strips. The trunk is a copy of the old Jenny Lind travel type made famous by her. The trunk is dated about 1940 or so. It has been reconditioned as there is slight discoloration in hidden places. The truck is wonderful. It's strong and sturdy ready to haul heavy items or simply to store blankets and such. The trunk is naturally distressed all over, there are cracks in the wood that lend to its beauty and charm. The trunk measures 14 inches tall, 26 inches from side to side and it has a 4 inch top lid that opens to reveal a 3 1/2 inch tall pull out shelf. I found this little teapot and fell in love with it. Intending to make tea with it and never did. The little research that I did do told me it was an yixing teapot. Made in China both commercially and artist made. This one. Of a bark with tiny beige flecks, is signed both underneath and inside the lid. The lid fits very snugly and doesn't move at all. The clay is very dark brown. It measures 7 inches from handle to spout.About 3 1/2 inches high. The two fleabites on lid are so small that they are impossible to photograph.

Antique Painted Wooden Box/ Trunk Picked up at an old farm house outside of Dresden. Germany. Family claimed the trunk was over two hundred years old. Old decoration with the year 1813 painted on the lid of the trunk. Beautiful floral painting on the front. Approximate Measures: 44" long x 22" deep x 22" tall Condition is better than expected for its age Buyer to either pick up the trunk at our home in Alexandria. They are finished on the front side and unfinished on the back. They are good quality. Exact replacement handles, but the"Standard Grade" can have slight imperfections. Also, the color of Natural leather handles can vary in shade(lighter or darker) Measurements are: 8 3/4" long x 1 1/4" wide x 5/16" thick.
