There is some staining behind the bottom drawer of possible wood finishing, the wallpaper otherwise is in excellent condition. It is in overall very good condition as you can see in pictures. It would look great in a warehouse loft apartment. It is in display condition but has issues as a useable trunk. Both of the old leather side handles are missing. The large front center hinge lock works fine but I do not have a key for this trunk and don't know if the lock works. Both of the side front locks have issues but display well. There are no interior drawers. The interior shows it's age but would be great for storage. It measures as follows. It is 28 inches wide, 17 inches deep and 19 inches tall. In the classic hourglass or"loaf of bread" shape, measuring 12" x 7¼" The box looks like pine wood and is in good solid condition. The leather banding is in fair condition. But looks quite aged and crackled, with some small sections missing(see photos) The hinges are good. There is no inside tray. This style of trunk is named after Jenny Lind. 1800's Antique Wooden Doll Child's Trunk Chest Salesman Sample Removable Tray For your consideration is an 1800's Antique Wooden Doll Child's Trunk Chest or Salesman Sample Square Design Removable Tray. This doll chest is in good condition. It has definate aged appearance and patina. There are two areas on the inside where the wood is split to the outside(one on the top and one on the inside backing) scratches and faded areas of original black decorative decor. The bottom has a couple nails sticking out. There is rusting on the decorative brass fixtures. There is some fraying of the wood in various areas and some holes that do not protrude to the outside of the box. There are handles on either side of the box. It appears that the tray and handles were added and are not original to the chest. Very nice and decorative detail ... moreand appeal. Inside original interior paper is mostly gone. We were lucky enough to purchase an auction lot of primitives obtained from a Beverly Hills estate. The lot includes some very nice pieces of which we are listing several on Ebay. This piece is a Salesman Sample Trunk- some may also use as a trunk for dolls. The piece is entirely original- no signs whatsoever of any restoration or alterations. The trunk opens and closes with ease but does not have a functioning lock. The interior as well as the original tray are in amazing condition for their age. You are bidding on a Nice Antique Leather Bound/ Covered 1800's Travel Chest. This chest does need a LOT of tender loving care. It retains an amazing paper label that reads(FESSENDEN’S SADDLERY( South of the State House Concord. N.H. Coach, Gig, And Buggy Harnesses– Saddles, Trunks And Military Caps– Kept constantly on hand and for sale) This travel chest is a wooden box covered with a leather and has brass tacks holding leather strapping down on the top. Sides and ends. The locking mechanism is quite unique and definitely antique and sorry but there is NO KEY to this trunk. This little gem has had much use and needs loads of TLC, so please don’t expect perfection or anywhere near that. The trunk measures 12 inches long x 7 inches wide x 5 ¼ inches deep not counting the leather strap handle. It is in need of restoration but is a ... morevery old and unique item that would make a great antique display. Comes from an old estate barn. Antique Miniature Salesman Sample CA Taylor Made Trunk Works Chicago

Taylor Co. 1858-1951) Chicago-New York. Measures 11.5 in. tall, 11 in. wide and 8.5 in. deep. Taylor was known for custom making special sizes of specific items and put the same instructions on the top, as this one: Delicate Apparatus Handle With Care. The hardware is brass plating over steel except for the top handle hold-downs which are brass. The leather handle is missing but easily replaced. The trunk walls appear to be fibre. The little trunk is well made, substantial and heavy, definitely not a doll trunk. Dates from the early 1900's. inkfrog terapeak.

this is a nice small antique doll trunk or salesman sample. I got with an antique bisque head baby doll. It feels like is made out of wood and the stuff atique trunks are made out of it has had the lock cut out and reattached the handle part there is a hole you can see from last pics. Looks like besides lock part has tipical wear from age I would consider in nice antique condition. Has nice leather straps some metal has dents.
