1800s Scandinavian Painted Immigrant Dowry Trunk Blanket Chest - Primitive
This"dome top" immigrant trunk from Scandinavia with folk art painting. The ironwork suggests this was a dowry chest. The family name is in script. Hand hewn of pine I believe. European furniture, useful as a blanket chest. Wrought iron hardware but missing top lock. The interior is clean and has 1 inside top tray. Length is 25 inches and 17 inches tall with a depth of 14.5 inches. This is NOT as large as many trunks but quit a wonderful size. The perfect piece to place adjacent to a chair or as a strong accent piece BUT does not dominate the space. Just a charming size. I often used the truck open to display linens. No oder. There is wear to the traditional hand painting. Akin to the famous rosemaling. The fine lines were artistically drawn and still show nicely. There are mars and dings for antique character, and this picturesque ... morepiece has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to preserve its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Selling this antique blanket chest. Appears to be handmade with typical style hand cut dovetailed corners. It has had the hinges replaced. Bottom has had tin reinforcement added. Top half of latch is missing. Cleats are present but no insert is included. Unique wood prop for the lid is attached. Brass on corners of lid. Steel wheels- I'm not sure if they are original. Has aged fairly well and is still a solid sturdy piece. Finish shows some wear. Boards have some cracking, etc. All items/conditions mentioned are shown in photos- please have a thorough look and ask any questions. Measures about 50" wide, 25" deep, 29 1/2" tall. Vintage Solid Walnut 6 Board Primitive Mortise & Tenon Blanket Chest w/Till
Please read this description and look at pictures carefully in order to make a solid decision as to if you are interested and then bid. Bid, bid. Offered is a great Vintage Handcrafted Solid Walnut 6 Board Primitive Mortise and Tenon Corners Blanket Chest with Till and Turned Legs. This piece is a wonderful example of handcrafted woodworking form the past. It's age is unknown but it is older. I have included as many pictures as possible although I do have several more that I can/will send if you are interested. I will also be happy to take and send pictures of any portion of the chest you might wish to see more closely or in more detail. The finish appears to be original and it displays a wonderful patina. There are two issues that I feel compelled to inform you of and I want you to consider if you wish to bid on this chest. 1. If you ... morelook at picture#5 above there is some minor powder post damage from sometime in the past(I see no evidence of any current activity) along the bottom edge of the board on the back of the chest. 2. The top of the piece of lumber being the front of the chest has bowed a bit outward which currently does not allow the lid to close completely. When closed the profiled trim on the lid rests on the top of the chests box. This can be observed by looking closely at the last picture above. Again. Please look very closely at the pictures and read the description carefully. Then if you can tolerate a few imperfections in a great old piece(and I hope you can since this is a wonderful old chest) please bid, bid, bid. Primitive Antique Gray Small Blanket Chest with Old Paint Hand Made Original
This primitive antique blanket chest with old gray paint measures 33" wide x 15.5" deep x 16" high. On the bottom side it has a small leather band for securing a secret something-key. Money? Take a close look at the pictures to see the wear on the wood from use. Both ends, the front, back, and bottom are made from one board and the top is made from three tongue and goove boards. I included a picture or two to show a crack at the end of one of the top boards but it is holding well. Antique American Pine wood blanket chest trunk, primitive country 1800-1899
This blanket chest has been in my family for 50 years. It is an early primitive pine piece with lots of storage inside. It looks like it may have been stained red originally. Most of the color had faded. In very good condition and a real charmer. There are 3 old black burn rings on the top as seen in the last photo. The measurements are length 42"x width 18.5" x 20" height. A great size for a coffee table or end table.

Antique 1897 Painted Scandinavian Dutch Blanket Chest Trunk Folk Art Primitive
This hand painted old chest is 53" long. 21" wide, 21 1/2" tall and I'm not sure what type of wood it is. It is dated 1897 and there are some names and dates written on the inside of the lid. There is wear- the paint is mostly worn off of the top. The lock has been removed and the keyhole plugged, the screws in the hinges have been replaced, there is some wormwood and the candle box has been rebuilt. The bottom"feet" have some rot and someone cut the worst off so it would sit level. Even with the wear to the wood it is still very sturdy and strong. Antique Primitive Wood Coffer Box Document Blanket Trunk Chest Hand-cut Dovetail
Small size hand-made wood box. The trunk style box measures about 22" long x 12" deep x 10 1/2" tall. These types of boxes may have been used for document storage. Silver, sugar and other valuables, linens, etc. The interior has a fitted storage compartment with a flip-top, possibly for candles or jewelry storage. Each side of the box is constructed with hand cut dovetails. There are two wrought iron handles that appear original. The handles are secured with pins as pictured. The lid is held in place with two strap hinges that appear to have been replaced at some time. The locking mechanism appears original, no key. On either side of the key hole on the front panel are two hand hammered metal decorations. At some point there were the same types of decorations were on the top of the lid. The locking hasp is missing. The lid ... moreis constructed of one board as are all sides. The box is solid and sturdy with numerous scratches and a few old repairs. Nice hand waxed patina. TURN OF THE CENTURY EARLY AMERICAN SUPER PRIMITIVE BLANKET CHEST~HANDMADE~DARK BLACK/BROWN WOOD Up for sale is an extremely primitive early blanket chest that would also make a wonderful window seat. The color of it is a dark blackish/brown and it is long and measures 51 inches X 17 inches in height X about 20 inches across the top(width) It has an old Bull Lock and has a 2 board piece bottom that is indicative of 1800's chest along with irregular nails. One of the side pieces is missing on the righthand side but this does add to the primitive look of the piece. It will have to be picked up at my Martins Ferry. Ohio home or you may arrange for freight and I can bubble wrap the piece for you but you must locate a freighter to pick up the piece of your choice.
