Antique Scandinavian Rosemaling Hand Painted Large Sized Legged Chest/Trunk
Up for sale is a beautiful large sized Scandinavian hand painted rosemaling chest that I had sent over by container to the States. I am not sure about the year of this chest but it has a lot of patina and is one of a kind. This chest measures 32" tall. 49" long and 26" deep. There is one wooden bar inside the side of the chest to hold the top open with four small legs each measuring 2" tall.The outside is painted in a maroon color with floral designs in blues and greens. The backside of the trunk is painted in a light blue color as shown in the picture. This would be a lovely storage chest for blankets or clothing. There is definite wear on the outside and inside of this chest that I think only adds to its great patina. I will be happy to ship this chest if need be and will research the best rates. And 40.5" long. There is some tarnishing of the tacks, and discoloration of the leather strip around a few tacks on the base only. We assume it was stored standing up on the base. It definitely has some slight mildew on the lower two drawers and the interior has a musty odor. From our research. It looks as though all the small parts and pieces are there. There is some slight pitting on the top metal hanging hardware. Inside three of the drawers are somebody's initials as seen in photos. Antique Wood Wooden Chest / Marriage Box Trunk Hand Painted Flowers / Tulips
Hi. For sale an antique wood/ chest(circa 1800s/ early 1900) marriage box. I am not positive of the boxes origin but I believe this is Folk Art. There are hand painted tulips on the edges and hand painted white flowers used in early American art. The measurements are 17 inches wide or long. 9 1/2 inches in height, and 7 1/2 inches deep. The chest/ Box weighs 11 pounds. It does have wear which is to be expected for it's age. The paint on the flowers have faded in some places, there are a few cracks on the wood, one is on the bottom(does not go all the way through, and one is on the inside of the lid. Wood shrinks with age and cracks are normal. There are a few places where wood has chipped off(one on the foot) the lock is missing and there is a heavy patina especially the places that would get the most use(by the handles. The front side ... morehas a darker patina(see 2nd picture) than the back side, it was probably sitting up against a wall and was covered on the top. The feet did have felt pads at one time. The rivets(or nails) are old type nails. It is made very well, it is very heavy and sturdy and it closes fine. Antique Dometop. Dovetailed oak chest looks to be 19th century, beautiful scene painting around entire chest. I do not know anything abouut this scene. All I know is it is beautifully handpainted. I don't know the artist or maker. I purchashed from an estate sale. The colors are blue, green, white, and a yellowish tone. ANTIQUE BAVARIAN PAINTED PINE TRUNK 1806 - ALSO CALLED FIRE TRUNK
Here for auction is a beautiful pine trunk or fire trunk(so named because people stored their most valued possessions in a trunk so they could take it with them in case of fire) that came from the Bavarian region of Germany. The colors are very vibrant. There is a very large metal forged antique key and lock, and old forged hinges. The trunk is 47" long, 23" front to back, 24" tall, and the pine planks are 7/8 thick. When the lid is lifted, the additional storage drawer seen on the left side measures 4" wide, 3" deep and 20" long. The inside depth of the large storage area is 16" This trunk is local pickup in Colorado Springs, CO.

Painted Dome Top Trunk - Document Box ca. 18th, 19th Cent. - American Folk Art
American folk art painted dome top trunk. Ca. late 18th century to early 19th century. Constructed of white pine, nailed construction, with original old red stain/ paint base coat and black stain/ paint decorations of plantation house, horses, what looks like a man with tricorn hat and horn, geometric designs, birds and animals. Dimensions: Length 32" Depth 15" Height 19" The box retains its original metal wire hinges. The box has a completely original finish. It is a little shiny in the pics because I used a little lemon oil on a cloth to dust it off. This is a great box and is quite early. The stain/ paint finish is dull, but could probably really be improved apon by someone who cleans artwork. You are bidding on a cool one of a kind unique set of 4 large handmade handpainted stacking double steel storage trunks/chests made in India with 2 having aligarh handles. Beautiful purples. Greens and blues. These are vintage pieces out of the 60's-70's. They also have aluminum fish faux keyhole locks and handles. Dimensions from smallest to largest are: 1) 26 w x 13 1/2 d x 9 h, 2) 29 w x 16 1/2 d x 10 h, 3) 32 w x 20 d x 11 h, 4) 35 w x 23 d x 13 h. Weight is 12, 22, 32, and 42 pounds. I cannot stress enough about how neat these boxes are. On the inside of each has a mirror and is also painted. There is a chain on the inside right of each. Please remember that these are vintage pieces and in very used condition. Some of the paint has flacked off in places and there is also a little rust on the top of one and minor small denting ... morearound. None of this actually hurts these pieces it just helps show their age and adds to the character of each. We have done a lot of estates and I have never run across anything like this before. Phelps was born born in Madison County, but his father John and Grandfather Elijah Phelps came from New England where their ancestors were among the earliest English Settlers. The Grandfather was a Soldier in the American Revolutionary War. The trunk is in fine condition with no key to the lock. Beautiful Antique German Pennsylvania Hand Painted Trunk Chest For sale is a beautiful antique hand painted chest or trunk. It is decorated on 4 sides with flowers. The painting appears to be on top of a gesso or tempera of sorts. The flower painting is very nice and in pretty good shape on the sides but worn on the top. The escutcheon is very unique. The trunk measures roughly 46.5 inches wide by 23.5 inches deep by 23.5 inches high. It shows a good deal of age because it is very old. I am not certain but would estimate late 18th to early 19th century. It is possible that it is older since the joints and hardware are similar to chests claiming to be early to mid 1700s. The hardware and lock are iron and the locking mechanism is very primitive in design. I do not have a key. The iron hinges could use a little straightening. There are square ... moreand round nails holding it together. Some of the nails for the hinges have been replaced with screws. The paint is cracked and peeling and missing and dirty. The interior of the trunk shows mostly red. The lid has a label and a picture of cupids. The label in in German but I don't think it has anything to do with the origin or maker of the trunk. There is a small lidded storage compartment on the left side. The ball feet appear to be correct. One toward the back shows deterioration. There are some random areas that show past termite activity or worm holes. I am not sure. The boards are solid. Though. This trunk was just removed from a Los Angeles storage unit and needs a very thorough cleaning. I am not an expert on such pieces and welcome any details people might be able to add. It has a tear in the animal skin on the back which I could have repaired with a little glue but decided that it would be better to let it's next owner give it some tender loving care TLC. Grungy uncleaned condition with old musty tool oil smell(it had tools in it when found) The hinges& latch are replacements. But still have age& oxidation to the metal. The handles are metal. The lid has 2 gouges in the wood on the right top end. Condition is worn/used with paint splatters(mostly the left end) scratches, crackling, splits to the wood(side ends) etc. The zoom feature shows these details& more, so please use it before placing a bid! This fabulous dollhouse miniature measures about 1" tall. I'm not exactly sure what it is meant to be. My first guess was that it was that it was a hand painted lunchbox. But now I am thinking it was meant to be a trunk or some other kind of box. In other words, I don't really know, and I am not a dollhouse collector or person with most kinds of knowledge in general. I do know that this is a nice detailed piece, and it is signed on the bottom with what looks like MC 83. Selling as is. 1880's Dome Top Trunk Painted and Great Storage Pirate Chest
Up for auction today we have a very nice refinished antique trunk- dating to the late 1880's- this trunk is wood with tin covered over the wood. The original trunk came to us with drab green metal on the sides and front and top. The back has a marbleized yellow pattern on parts of it. I sanded the wood slats and stained and treated them with Tung oil and polyurethane- they shine and are beautiful. The top I painted hunter green- adding a nice"pop" to the trunk. It is not period by any means. Just cool and colorful. I finished the black metal sides with flat satin black and then polyurethaned the other parts of the metal. We replaced the handles and the trunk is solid- heavy- with the original four small castors on the bottom, making it easy to roll on carpet. Vintage Miniature Olinala Mexico Painted Lacquer Dome Top Trunk
This is a miniature of the large dome top dowry trunks that were made in the 19th Century in Olinala. Mexico. Olinala has long been the center for painted lacquerware in Mexico. This little box has beautiful mauve and pink flowers on a dark green background with delicate leaves and gold tracery. Probably from the 50s. Length is just over 2 3/4" height is just under 2" There is some chipping on the lid and a very small chip on the back, overall the condition is very good for its age. There is also the remains of an old tag(probably the original price tag) on the bottom. Please note that the shipping charge is for the U.S. only, for other areas please inquire.

Vintage 19th C. military painted pine, trunk, chest, blanket box, cabin labels
Lovely 19th Century vintage VICTORIAN PAINTED PINE MILITARY CHEST. TRUNK, BLANKET BOX that has a lovely rustic charm& character to it. Very strong& solid pine plank construction with iron handles to each end. Iron hinges, iron corner strapping to one end and an iron band running around the edge of the lid. On the front it has the remnants of 2 old ship ping labels. On the lid is a label that reads'BAGGAGE ROOM. NOT WANTED ON VOYAGE' At e ach end are identical shipping/cabin labels. One reads'VESSEL I.A.F.T. 1789, HOLD, RANK AND NAME, UNIT, DESTINATION, PORT OF DISEMBARKATION' while the other label'B' denotes the deck. It has a lovely age& patina to it with a very clean interior. A very striking and attractive period piece of furniture that has many storage uses such as a coffee table, games consul storage- ... morelounge, bedrooms, children's rooms etc. It measures 36" long by 16" wide by 16" high. Trunk, Distressed, Hand-Painted, Custom International Stencils
This is a custom. Hand painted, hand distressed wood trunk. It was purchased at an antique store in Phoenix in 1983 and is suspected to be circa late 1950's. It's original condition was a plain, brown box with metal trim and handles. The restored item was sanded lightly to hold the paint. The base color was chalk painted in an antique white and when dry was layered with two coats of colored whitewash in shades of beach blue and a light moss green. The entire piece was then hand distressed and re-sanded. The stenciling is all hand cut. Custom colored in acrylics and then sanded to obtain a worn appearance. These stencils are designed from recognized shipping phrases and labels from around the world. Then a coat of spray polyurethane is applied over the stencils and after drying, two coats of polyurethane were applied to the entire ... morebody of the trunk. The interior of the trunk has been cleaned. Sanitized, re-stained and coated with a flat polyurethane. The handles are all original to the piece. Trunk dimensions are: Length = 35" Depth = 19" Height = 16.75" I have been in the restoration business for several years. And I guarantee you a beautiful, quality piece. BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE HUMPBACK WOODEN TRUNK WITH PAINTED FLOWERS
This is a very nice vintage humpback trunk with hand painted flowers and artist signature. I am not sure of age of trunk but flowers with artist signature is dated 1978. This trunk is solid wood and very large and heavy. It is about 42 inches across and about 17 inches wide. The inside is very pretty. It is yellow tiny flowered wallpaper and both inside and out are in very good condition. Due to the size and weight I can only offer local pickup. Thanks for looking.
