It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. Welcome to my ebay store! this awesome piece came from an estate sale of an elderly local antiques collector. I purchase most of her dolls and doll items. This is an awesome unusual definitely unique steamer trunk most likely for a girl to keep her doll clothes in. There is an upper wood tray covered in paper that sits on an inner ledge. The inside of lid is lined with a nice royal blue paper. It definitely has a bit of that musty antique smell that says this piece is old. The Lock has the words Eagle Lock Terryville CT which definitely shows the age and quality of the piece and US made. The trunk is made from wood. With metal strapping, nice metal corner hardware and worn leather straps. The trimming is in Faux grained metal in shades of red and yellow. I haven't seen a trunk like this one online or on ebay. This beautiful 1800 rustic antique trunk is in remarkable condition for it's years. Original wooden slats and black metal. The inside has been relined with Victorian paper& metal has been cleaned to restore its Original look. The latch on the inside has been replaced with a new latch(ordered from a trunk store) One piece of hardware is missing from a slate. Which I show in a picture. The bottom is missing a wheel, but trunk is not wobbly. The side leather handles are missing. The trunk measures 34 1/2" height, 24" Long, 18 1/2" Width. This delightful small trunk came to us from an estate auction out in the country. The outside seems all original but long ago the interior was painted in a cream color and handpainted with leaves and flowers. While we like things to be entirely original. This restoration is just right-nothing fake looking about it. My guess is that the cream color was done 60-70 years ago. There is considerable rust on the lock and the outside metal. Up for sale is a very nice antique Victorian Steamer Trunk. It is in very good condition inside and out. The outside has very nice stamped flowers. Very nice woodwork, one leather strap is broken the other is good, the pictures say it all. The dimensions are 31 wide by 17.5 wide by 25 deep. The flower has Pat. Antique Dome Victorian Steamer Bride Trunk, Wood, Embossed Metal, Trays, Lithos
Dome top steamer chest/trunk. Bride or wedding trunk, or ship/stagecoach travel trunk. Of wood and metal construction, metal embossed outer layer, wood slat trim, most of the original antique hardware embellishments, a number of the pieces stamped Pat Mar 168(the final number of the patent year didn’t make it onto the hardware, but still indicates the patent dates back to the 1600’s! All the interior compartments are intact. With original linen-type covering over the compartment lids, with original pictorial lithographs and elaborate borders. Original graphic paper lining also intact on the underside of the compartment lids and the bottom section of the trunk– see condition in photos. The spots of discoloration in places may be rust coming through from the metal; bidder to determine. There are 5 compartments in the upper section– two in the ... morelid, and 3 in the top tray which includes one long compartment across the back(try to ignore the glaring blue felt lining in the compartments and bottom of the trunk, but note that I did not lift it to see what’s underneath) Please check all views of the photos for condition of the outer embossed skin/metal/wood(a few dents and splits in the metal but I didn’t see missing sections anywhere) Missing or replaced hardware(looks like a few pieces are missing, the lower front latch may be replaced, leather strap handles replaced and/or missing hardware? maybe some nails/studs replaced– overall minor in my opinion, but I want bidders to review closely and make their own determination) Overall this is in very solid condition, just has the wear and tear and aging of travel and usage. Note that part of one front wheel is missing and needs to be replaced. I didn’t find any markings that would indicate whether it’s from France. Beautiful trunk here.wood with metal accents(some looks to be copper) Interior shows a ladies fashion look. Perhaps that was who traveled with this trunk. Condition as shown. Not too shabby for age. Top strap broke as shown. Side has both latches functional and in tact but no key for main lock. Measures 22-1/4" wide 20.5" deep 20-3/4" tall. Nice square look. Antique metal chest or trunk-luggage. Footlocker, steamer trunk, storage trunk.Paper lined. Measures 28 1/4" x 15 1/4" x 8 1/2" Working buckles. Did not shut the lock latch for fear it would lock and I don't have a key. Dings and wear give it great character. Like the faux straps on it. Leather handle. Reinforced metal ornate corners. Good original paper lining. Great piece to repurpose into a coffee table or bookcase and so much more.

Vintage Small Metal Covered Steamer Trunk Chest w/ vtg TRAVEL STICKERS - unique!
Unique small travel chest. Not sure of the history of this but it is certainly a unique piece! It measures 18x10x10.5" Has a metal skin over wood construction. Metal corner guards protect it from drops and damage. It has some age to it and shows character! It has old travel stickers on it like they used to plaster on luggage back in the day. It has a Bassett lock that is locked. I dont have the key. It does not feel like anything is inside. Feels empty. I am leaving the lock intact versus breaking it open. If you are using it for display the lock does not matter anyway. Part of the fun might be sourcing a key and opening it up! The other two latches operate fine. Looks like it had two leather strap handles that are missing. A top edge guard is also missing. All that said there is something really cool about the age and look of this mini ... moretrunk that drew me to purchase it from a local New England estate sale. Hope it finds a good home!

19th Century, Victorian Era, Metal Flat Top Steamer Trunk Named: J. A. Galliers
Victorian Era English Flat-Top Trunk Named: J. A. Galliers Click on photos to SUPERSIZE! Here's a truly fantastic. 19th Century, antique travel trunk for you. This flat-top trunk measures 32" x 19" x 13" The trunk is constructed of black painted metal with wooden gussets. The interior is lined with copper painted metal(I think it may be brass) The trunk has four handles and a key lock on front(the key is missing) There are two cast-iron latches on the front. These latches give the trunk a very unique antique appearance that I don't believe I've seen before. Perhaps the most interesting thing about this fine looking trunk is the markings. The trunk is named in white script"J. A. Galliers" It also has"C/O A.E.O. La Libertad. Unaccompanied Baggage" written on top. The side of the trunk has remnants ... moreof a paper tag. I can just make out a bit of the script which reads in-part: Williamson Merchant, Grace)Church Street, London" The lock is marked"4 Best English Lever" These are the only markings on the trunk. I did a google search for J. A. Galliers and found that there was an author named"John Albert Galliers" living in London. This gentleman passed away in 2011 at the age of 82. I wonder if this could be his old trunk? If so, how did it end up in Columbia, MO, where I recently purchased it at a thrift store? The trunk is in very good condition. As you can see in the photographs. It does show some wear from the age of it, but I think this only ads to the genuine patina(which cannot be faked) I suppose you could refinish the trunk, but I feel as though that would remove much of it's history. If this were my trunk I would have a piece of glass cut for the top and make it into a fantastic coffee table. I have a similar vintage trunk type coffee table in my own home, otherwise I might keep this one. I'm confident that this item will make for a very interesting addition to any collection.
