They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. Antique CHILD'S DOLL STEAMER TRUNK Metal Over Wood, 3 Wooden Drawers & Hangers
This is a wonderful antique streamer truck/chest for doll's clothes. A toy most girls had to have at the turn of the 20th century. I'm not sure how old the trunk is. It is made of thin metal over wood and the metal reacts to a magnet. The trunk has a center key lock(non working) and 2 metal clasp brass colored steel(magnetic) All 4 corners have the same brass colored metal with tacks. There is a black metal band along the center edge with grommets or tacks. A leather strap embossed with the number 22 allows for easy carrying by an adult as the trunk weighs 16 pounds when empty. The handle is sturdy but has light surface cracks. In its upright position. The trunk opens to a wooden interior with 3 stacked drawers and a side for hanging the clothes. It does come with the 7 original wooden hangers(one is missing from the picture) The ... moredrawers can be removed and are stack-able within the trunk space. Slight loss of the blue paint on the edges of the right side. The trunk measures 22" tall x 12" x 12" There is a blank metal tag on the top near the handle. Could this have been a salesman's sample where the owner would have their name engraved on the plate? There is overall a light surface of rust. Wonderful antique steamer trunk from family estate. Was my great-aunt's piece. In very good condition for it's age(late 1800's) This trunk measures 30" W x 15 1/2" D x 19 1/2" H. Bent wooden handles are in great condition and solid. Wood slats have a nice rich patina and metal is embossed with shell pattern and shows no rust. Original rollers on bottom, but at some point, additional rollers added. Trunk sits firmly on these rollers. Interior is in great condition with some peeling wallpaper. This is a ca. 1885 Antique refinished metal covered flat top trunk. All parts are original. It is 28.5"x 17"x 20"tall and weighs 40 lbs. It is sometimes called a monitor or waterfall trunk. The lock is marked Pat`d April 15. 1879 and the slat caps are marked Pat`d March 1880. The key has been lost. It is clad with metal with oak slats. It is possible that it was made by Charles Taylor, New York. The interior is very unusual. It has a double tray hinged system that slides out of way on steel runners. The trays are finished pine and the inside is finish with a lovely floral print. It can be pick-up or you can make arragements to have it shipped. Look carefully at the photos. No returns. This is a beautiful Victorian 1800'S Hump Back Trunk with alligator-skin patterned tin exterior covering. It is totally original. It is untouched, unmolested by refinishers or restorators, it has not be polished and has no replacement parts. Condition: Hinges are original and untampered. All of the hinges work fine. The trunk opens freely and shuts tightly. All of the wooden slates are in great condition. There is one wheel missing on the bottom and it still rolls nicely on three wheels. The leather handles are in good condition and have not deteriorated. The metal adornment on the trunk's exterior adds charm and character to the piece. This is a higher quality trunk. Offering this great vintage/antique metal trunk ideal for rustic. Primitive decorating. It measures approx 33 1/2" by 14 5/8" by 16 1/2" Could be used as a coffee table as the top is flat. The top opens 3/4 to reveal a papered box tray that is removable. I don't have a key and the clasp does not sit tight against the lock as shown in the photos(I did not, however, attempt to adjust it) There are also some holes in the top along the hinge which I do not know whether or not they are original to the piece and the leather handles are broken and missing pieces. I know very little about this trunk. I found it in a foreclosure here in Vegas. It is ROUGH. I can send more pics if you need to see certain features. It was definitely a cool looking trunk when it was new. The bottom is the worst part. See pics. I am taking a stab at the price, so don't shoot me if it is too high. it is large and pretty heavy. Shipping might be possible but I am going to list this as local pickup. Picking it up would be a good Las Vegas vacation excuse. As long as you pay for it, I will hold it for up to 30 days until you can get here. Any longer and I charge you a storage fee. I have a Wheary wardrobe/trunk that I will list also. Antique Victorian Child's Dome Top Steamer Trunk Embossed Metal Hardwood Trim
A pretty antique Victorian style hump back steamer trunk that's in good sound condition. We believe it was used by a child based on the size( 24" long X 15" wide X 17" high at the center) It has curved hardwood slats across the top and hardwood slats across the front, sides and back, there are lots of brass tacks holding the wood in place and the wood has a rich warm patina. The body of the trunk is covered with embossed tin and plain black metal. The leather handles are missing but these are inexpensive and can be purchased any of the trunk restoration sites on-line as well as right here on EBAY. It has two clasps on the front to hold it closed and there's a lock but no key, we are not certain that the lock works so it will arrive open. Two sturdy hinges on the back hold the lid securely in place and the lid fits nice ... moreand snug. The inside is nice and dry and there are the remnants of the old paper that it was lined with here and there. Most folks like to sand down the interior and apply a sealant which eliminates any lingering musty odors, another option is to line it with cedar. The bottom of the trunk is metal covered with three wood runners that have done a fantastic job of protecting the bottom. Near each corner on the bottom is a small metal wheel that makes the trunk easier to move around on any hard flat surface. These antique trunks are not often found in such nice condition, there is very little surface rust and and absolutely no rust through on the metal. A great place to store extra blankets, seasonal clothing, toys, hats& mittens, a display piece for an antique doll collection or antique toys. I once sold a trunk to a grandmother who purchased it to send her grandson off to college!

The inner structure of the trunk is wood with metal overlay- probably steel. The steel has been faux treated to given a bronzed/copper look. It is original to the trunk, not added.
