And would make a wonderful vessel sink vanity. Hand carving in solid quarter sawn oak shows superior craftsmanship- artistic detailing, graceful curves and raised and shaped panels. The original finish is very well preserved on this European furniture. Waxed and buffed. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the warm honeyed patina. Embossed brass hardware is original, drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. There is a tiny chip to the marble, which has been polished and sealed to resist stains. Beautiful fancy carved drawer pulls, raised panels of burl walnut accenting the drawer fronts, period dove-tailed joinery on the drawers and a fabulous secret drawer at the base to tuck away those precious valuables, with the original casters intact on the base. This chest measures 32 1/2 inches tall. 40 inches wide,20 inches deep and weighs approximately 95 lbs. This splendid Victorian chest is in wonderful antique condition. Solid and tight and ready for many more years of use. The locks are intact on all the drawers except the second ... moredrawer and the top drawer offers divided compartments for organization. The marble has no cracks or chips but does show some mild discoloration from age as common in antique marble. This chest has three large storage drawers each with early hand cut dove-tailed ends. Picture frame molding and detailed carved pulls. The top drawer interior is Birds-eye maple and is divided into four sections inside for organization and there is actually a fourth dovetailed"secret" ... moredrawer that is hidden at the very bottom to store and hid those special items. Additional details include intact locks on all of the drawers. Original wooden key escutcheons, and molding in the paneled sides with the casters intact on the base. French Louis XVI Style Marquetry Inlaid Demilune Marble Topped Commode Early 20th Century Item# 130008LWP26 Simply gorgeous and perfectly preserved in every way. This fine French Louis XVI Style Commode is simply above reproach. At least a century after being crafted entirely by hand, the commode remains in nearly identical condition to when it left the shop. Clearly maintained in a home that cared for it and kept humidity at a stable level throughout it's life, the piece does not display the typical issues commonly associated with these heavily inlaid works of art. The mixed stone brèche d'Alep top is a wonderful variated surface. Full of color and activity, completed with a thin molded channel around the edge of the demilune form. The facade is a mix of five drawers and two cabinet doors; the top drawer is broad with crossbanded ... moreveneers framed in olivewood stringer inlay. It rests over a pair of drawers with a continuous inlaid image of a vase overflowing with flowers and foliage, hanging from a bow-tied ribbon draped on the keyhole escutcheon over a cross banded ground and framed in the same stepped rectangular olivewood stringer inlay that completes each drawer and door. The inlay is incredible intricate. And remarkably there is no peeling or lifting along the edges of this veneer, as typically happens when the piece is stored in an environment with poorly controlled temperature and humidity. On either side of the cabinet, small drawers swing outwards over the cabinet doors, these hand dovetailed at the back of each. The cabinet space is divided with a single shelf. The entire commode rests over turned and tapered legs that are topped and terminated in brass mounts. This is an outstanding find for any collector of French Louis XV and XVI antique furniture. Specifically if you seek out utmost quality in your furnishings. This state of preservation is difficult to find and is highly desirable by collectors and decorators alike. American Empire Flamed Mahogany Marble Top Chest with Secret Drawer c1840 Being offered for sale is this Classic American Empire Flamed Mahogany Marble Top Chest with a Secret Hidden Drawer circa 1840's.This fine 19th century chest features its original serpentine front marble top. The original wood pulls and early hand-cut dovetailed ends on the drawers with the casters in tact on the base. This chest offers a vast amount of storage with its four large drawers with the fifth drawer being the secret drawer at the base. Measurements: 40 in high 42 1/2 inches wide 20 inches deep weighs approximately 100 lbs. This early chest is solid and tight and in wonderful antique condition. A late 20th century Louis XVI Classical style inlay mahogany chest of three drawers on cabriole legs. The center drawers and sides have a marquetry urn with leaf scrolls. There are brass ornaments and pulls. The top has a mottled dark-olive marble slab with beveled edge. The chest measures 35" tall 42" wide by 19-1/2" deep. Excellent condition: case without chips or cracks. Veneers and inlays without loses. Marble is without damage.
