Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk/Chest (Rare - All Leather) 1800-1899
Fresh to the market this all Leather Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk dated around the late 1900's.Serial Number- 765177) has been hidden away in an over grown shed in North Wales. The Trunk was custom made for an H. E. Gowar which is on both side panels. These custom made all leather trunks were much more expensive to purchase than the printed canvas patterns making this a rare find. The truck shows sign's of it's age(120+ years) the leather is cracked and worn in places. The trunk has it's own patina but it is in good condition, sturdy, with no holes in the leather which I feel was once black this could be brought back to it's original colour with a leather stain and waxed, all metal work is also in good condition with all four original LV rolling coasters, the Louis Vuitton logo can be found on the two clasps. On the inside ... moreof the trunk you will find the Louis Vuitton Label. With the inside and basket showing signs of wear and water damage again due to age, the logo can also be seen printed like an water mark on the removable basket material. The chest features French, Louis XV or Provincial lines and is painted with several Chinese scenes. The scenes depict people, birds and various landscapes with cherry blossoms and lotus flowers. The scenes are features on each side of the chest, the top, and on the drawer faces. The four cabriole legs feature a ribbon and flower swag detail. There is extensive gold gilding outlining the table top, the legs, and the drawer faces. Each corner of the scalloped table top features a gold lattice design which is quite striking. The table has a black painted finish with red paint visible in some areas underneath the black. The finish is aged with a deeply crackled technique. Very cool and unique Louis Vuitton auto trunk circa 1910 converted to a console table. Trunk is all original with the original black vuittonite canvas and all brass hardware. These were originally made to be strapped to the back or interior trunk of an early Rolls Royce. Custom base is made of steel and brass. I have also seen the interiors of these converted for use as humidors or as a whiskey/scotch case. Dimensons are 32 x 15 x 35.5" high. Looks great against a wall or the back of a couch as well. MID CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS XV PROVINCIAL GILT WOOD COCKTAIL BAR LIQUOR CHEST TABLE
We are pleased to offer this RARE. Mid Century cocktail chest/cabinet. This is a BEAUTIFUL accent piece in the French Provincial style. The cabinet is wood with a heavily, gilded/gold leaf finish(original) The cabinet is of very nice quality and is quite functional. The cabinet is ornately incised/carved. The front face has a large center acanthus and raised panel insignia. The side profiles of the cabinet feature a scalloped incision. The cabriole legs are adorned with very ornate acanthus leaves and flowers. The apron is scalloped, with the curved areas accomplished with small segments pieced together. The top of the cabinet is hinged at mid point. When you raise the front of the top, the upper panel of the front face opens and the liquor cabinet, glass holder, automatically lowers and the glass holders automatically slide forward. The ... moreshot glass/tumbler holders are a 2 tier design. The upper tier houses 5 large, high ball style" tumblers. The lower tier also houses 5 tumblers as well as 5 smaller"shot style" glasses. There is open space on each side of the glass holders for liquor bottles or seltzer. The interior is faced with a black laminate. The hinge mechanisms are very nice and they operate very smoothly. The hinges are brass with a unique mark. To close the cabinet, simply lift up on the front face and the cabinet closes smoothly and easily. The cabinet is extremely nice and exceptionally beautiful. The gilt/gold leaf finish is very rich in color and, in direct light, it almost shines. The cabinet is not marked, but the upper interior looks as if it housed a manufacturers sticker at one time. The cabinet is in very nice condition. There are some areas on the top where the gold leaf is worn as if the cabinet was used to display items on top. These are not too distracting and they can be resolved if you choose. There is also a small piece of veneer that is missing on the back side of the top. Again. It is not distracting.
