Small wicker reeds are woven horizontally to form the top. Front and back. Each end is woven bamboo of light and dark shades that create a lovely visual and textured array. The bottom is woven dark bamboo strips. It has wooden feet and leather? woven handles on the sides and top. Metal brass? hinges and a decorative sliding hook lock are secure and move freely. These old Jenny Lend trunk. Leather coverings came from a trunk whose lock has a patent date of 1799. The 1st picture provided is of the leather covering for this trunk's lid end. It measures about 16.5" x 11.5" The 2nd piece covered the front of the Jenny Lind trunk and measures about 27.5" x 13.5" The rectangular piece cut from the top. Center of this piece is where the trunk lock was installed. The leather piece shown in the 3rd picture provided measures about 28.5" x 22" Note the geometric. Hand"tooling" in these pieces. This is a very fine and rare French or European 17th Century dated 1674. Leather travel trunk/chest in beautifully iron studded"Russia" leather, having fleur-de-lis and clover design, heart escutcheons and wrought iron heart pierced hinges and handles, the whole with beautiful patination some leather missing due to 300 hundred plus year old age, the interior papered in a latter 18th or 19th century marbleized paper with 2 hidden compartment in the bottom. This piece is from a old New Orleans estate and has a long history of being in New Orleans Louisiana. The trunk measures 26" deep. 20 1/2 inches tall and 39 inches wide. it is very heavy. You are looking at an antique trunk strap with locking buckle. It comes with a key. And works fine. The strap width is 1" and the buckle is 1' x 2" It would make an interesting belt if you want conversation about your belt.there are possibilities. For your consideration.An Antique and very Vintage entirely leather,and leather cornered) suitcase and or as once called, motoring trunk"Determined age is most likely from between 1920- 1950.It has much character, and functions as originally intended, minus the key for the brass push lock.Obviously well made enough to last till this day,it is all leather including all 8 corners.The lock, buckles,snaps, and rivets are all brass, or brass plated.There is a detailed border striping around the top and each side, and the liner inside is still intact.The stitching is very heavy and I do not see one area on the entire item that has unraveled.Upon searching the in& outside, I was only able to come up with 3 identifiable marks.The latches on each end are made by Corbin, the lock has the letter"A" just above the key hole, and the ... morenumber 8 is embossed into the leather on the rear panel.A name and address from the previous owner is written in ink on the left rear corner,which has only a route& box listed, no street address.Item came from a rural area.No cleaning has taken place on this item,only wiped down to remove surface dust, and swept nicely on the inside.There is one strip of leather& buckle for the inside top panel that is missing,and the outside belt on the left front side is worn, almost detached. You are bidding on one of the nicest Antique Steamer travel trunk made by The Oshkosh Trunk Company from around 1914. The Trunk is in great shape for its age. It's almost perfect inside. It's made of wood but is covered with beautiful black leather on the outside with all heavy duty brass corner guards, latches,and rivets. The inside of the trunk is all lined with a light blue soft fabric, all the fabric is in great shape and is not peeling anywhere. The trunk is made to be stood up and used like a closet one side opens and closes then you turn the lock handle it locks the other side and opens the main part of the trunk for hanging clothes there are some of the hangers there and the top of the clothes hanging side opens as well. You can see in one side of the trunk there is a crack in the wood where the lip of the lid goes over to ... moreclose and lock. It still works fine. If you lay the trunk down on it bottom the long way there is some tear in the leather. Also because they do not have the key someone grind off the rivet to open it. You can very easily put the latch back on the square and drill and tap the brass to put a bolt in it and have a key made so you can unlock it right and turn the latch like a handle the way it's design to work. This trunk is beautiful for the age there no mold inside or outside. It does have a light moth ball smell inside. but it would clean up very easy. If you were using this trunk at the end of your bed or for a coffee table you would never see the rip in the leather on the bottom. We did not clean this trunk because we did not want to hurt it's value. We will ship this trunk anywhere in the USA. But it very heavy. I would say at least 100 pounds. Up for auction is a Vintage Wooden Trunk"The World" in Leather/Vinyl/Wood/Velvet* The AGE and Origin at this time is unknown. This trunk measures 24x14x14 inches(external) A hat is placed in one of the photos to show scale. I'm not the original owner. Only an individual reseller. I've only had this item for about 2 days. Externally it is made of a photographic fabric that appears to be a vinyl or leather of some type. More on this later. It is apparently held down with glue and genuine leather accent trim. The accent trim is held down by metal stud/rivets. Much of the leather has lifted away but is all still intact present. There are also two very thick leather strap handles affixed on both sides(length) These handles are all very much intact and offer maximum usefulness. There seems to have been a hasp or some other locking ... moremechanism. But is no longer in place. There is one hinge on the inside that is in very good condition. I can support the lid in the open position half way all up to fully open. Inside the trunk is a very pristine velvet/ felt liner. It is wine/ burgundy in color and is clean and immaculate as if never used. In fact this trunk has probably been shut/closed for so long that I had to pry it open. As far as the main picture material. It does appear to be leather. The theme is a continuous map of the world with photos of wildlife(mainly Africa) It is in mint condition throughout the outside of the box and has not peeled away, been ripped, deteriorated, nor discolored in any location. This sleeping treasure went unnoticed by my family for over 40 years because of it's worn leather exterior; we never even noticed the Louis Vuitton markings on the brass latches. This was my grandfather's trunk. And currently bears his initials I.W.H on one side. As far as we know, he was the second owner. I made an e-mail inquiry to the Louis Vuitton Patrimonie department, and they responded in writing: According to our files and your photographs, your trunk with the inside number 152686 might be a trunk sold in 1907. My grandfather was stationed in France during WWI, but I am not sure if he acquired it there. The original monogram ... moreon the other side has been mostly removed, but the outline is still legible and looks like: J.F.T What makes this trunk special is the presence of all of the original details. From what I have seen. It is rare to find one that is this old(107 years! with the leather handles intact, and the original four wheels in place, the tufted lining of the lid retaining its charm, and with a relatively clean interior. Up for your consideration is an c.1900 antique russet brown canvas gladstone doctor bag with leather strapping. Brass fittings and a linen lining. This medical tool bag has a stitched leather handle, 2 leather buckle straps, leather seam binding and brass gromets on the strapping as well as the bottom panel. The brass hardware locks and unlocks easily with a finger pull in the center and side sliding latches. The metal hinge frame is secure and in good working order. The bag measures approximately 10' x 18' x 10' The side and bottom panels are reinforced with thick cardboard and the brown linen lining is entirely intact with two inner pockets. Antique 1910 EXCELSIOR Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Leather 42" x 23" Yellow
Early Vintage Travelling Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk dates back to about 1910. 42" tall X 23" wide and deep. Cured genuine leather stretched over a sold wood frame. Yellow in color with a nice patina. All edges and corners protected by brass plating. There are 6 functioning ball type wheels on the bottom which allows the user to roll the trunk while flat. And an additional 2 functioning wheels allow the user to roll the trunk while standing on end and towing with the leather handle(picture shown) All metal edges do have some wear but this gives the trunk a great look. The locking hardware is functioning. And is stamped EXCELSIOR#4230 Made in Stamford, Conn USA. Excelsior began making this lock in 1910. The locking mechanism is controlled by the exterior latch which in turn stabilizes the drawers for travel(shown in picture) There ... moreis 1 key from the Independent Lock Co#1076 Made in Fitchburg. Mass USA(valued at $18.95 on Ebay) The interior fabric is a copper monochromatic damask which is in good shape considering the age(picture shown) Once settled at their destination. The traveller may lift the padded top portion of the trunk up using the attached hinges to reveal and unlock the hanging garments(see main picture) There are 5 drawers which feature the same copper damask on their fronts. And brown lining within(picture shown) The top drawer is missing the lock, the bottom drawer is missing the handle, and both drawers do have a little water damage. There are 4 original hangers(1 shirt. 1 pant, and 2 coat) These hangers rest upon a chrome bar which extends outward 18" to allow the traveller to peruse their garments and avoid wrinkling. The hanging garments are protected from dust during travel by a copper damask curtain that snaps closed at the bottom. Approximated weight is 85 lbs. First of all I will date it to be from the 20s or 30s.it's been stored for over 50 years and the newspaper in the bottom headlined with Hitler/Mussolini.so.there's that. Also her's what I know, handstitched leather, wood slat reinforced on back and bottom, all of the cool handles and straps intact, inside and outside corners reinforced, the interior linen cloth is original and awesome, the little red and white straps are even still there and excellent! Antique Curved Leather Top Saratoga Trunk Offering you beautiful curved Dome top trunk. This trunk once was quite an expensive beauty. The curved top. Plentiful nails and amazing-fine hardware makes this a high-end piece, often known as a Saratoga Trunk. The reason for the curved top is to ensure that this trunk would go on the top of the stack. Rather than having trunks stacked on top of it, damaging the contents. I have not altered or refinished this trunk. I purchased it from a lady who stated it was in the stable area of her very old, victorian home. The home was built in the early 1900's. INSIDE: I believe it is constructed of Pine with a floral paper design. Which means this trunk belonged to a Woman. OUTSIDE: Has a dark metal/tin tone. 4) wooden, Elm? vertical slats on the dome top, 2) horizontal wooden slats on the front& ... moreback, 1) wooden slat on each side. There is a 16" wide(wooden slats divide the leather area) Leather type Alligator design area on the top that extends down the front and back and along both sides. The metal work is very nice and when this trunk was new, must have been gorgeous. There are(8) metal shield type designs holding down the top wood slats. On the top side ends, there are large metal Crown like designs. There are(2) brown leather handles. 1 handle is torn but repairable. This trunk was definitely for a woman of importance. Approximate Dimensions: 22" High@ the highest-middle 32.5" Wide 17.5" Deep Condition: This trunk is in good antique condition. There is normal wear. Which is expected, due to it's age. The bottom inside does have a few minor cracking in the wood. There is not a lock on the trunk. All the nails& design hardware are there, as far as I can see. The Trunk has some very nice metal tinwork on it with a great pattern. I think this truck has a masculine feel. And would go great in a Cabin, or rustic type home. I personally have used it to hold blankets in over the years. This Truck is old and used. But it believe the damage and wear only adds to its look. Estate ~ Miniature Dome Top Leather Cov. Trunk DATED 1806 Paper Label Ad INSIDE
Fabulous small/miniature size dome top trunk measuring approx. 12-1/4" wide x 6-1/2" x 6" high with original covering. Brass handle at the top& brass lock plate. The trunk is wood you can see the solid wood bottom and the hand hewn runners. The covering looks like thin leather but has some canvas like grain to it so I am unsure. Some of these tiny trunks from the 1800's were used for document boxes this one is lined with newspaper with the original trunk makers label dated 1806 still attached on the inner lid. If you like to stack trunks consider this the top of the stack! We have not seen one smaller than this just look at the detail on the tiny straps and studs ~ quality made piece take a look. The canvas grain leather? material has rips on the backside but could easily be reglued down since it isn't missing much. There are scuffs from age related handling. The brass handle and brass lock plate lift up and down as they should. There used to be 2 leather tabs that acted as hinges that are broken and need to be replaced. Rare. Incised leather covered trunk with large brass studs, about 1850-60. Beautifully crafted. This trunk comes with original key and superbly made lock which still works. Original wallpaper and leather secretary attache are in great condition for age. Comes with original keychain with engraved nameplate of the original owner from Portland. Connecticut. On the opposite side. There is a masonic symbol engraving, WSSTKSHT in a circle. Has typical wear for age. As shown, both original handles are complete and functional. Chest probably had some original strapping that is no longer there. All original large brass studs are present except for one on top in back. Dimensions are approx 26" W x 16" H x 16" D. Antique Civil War Soldier Jenny Lind Trunk Rare Stamped Eagle W/Key in its talons E.T. Fitch is marked on the side also has markings to a new haven Railroad on the sticker on side. Trunks is all original as found condition a great reenactment piece. The lock has an eagle stamped with a skeleton type key in its talons it may have been a military issued trunk. I've found and sold over 200 jenny lind trunks this is only the 2nd I've ever seen with an eagle stamped into the acorn shaped door over the keyhole. It's in good condition for its age both handles are still on it and can be used to carry the trunk. For a real piece of American history this may just be your trunk. Up for sale is a very cool antique leather Finnigan Maker Manchester trunk. It is approximately from the late 1800s- to early 1900s. Finnigan was a well known luggage crafter out of Manchester England and later moved on to London. It came out of a barn in Northern VT. The trunk says JK Macara on top and has the initials JKM at each end. It is a large size- about 30" by 19" by 13" It is in pretty rough condition- the leather is dry and flaky. Smells musty, the front strap is broken, interior is ripped and stained and the lid is loose on one side. Even in the rough condition it has a great look and would be good for display.
