Painted scene has an"aristocrat" ... morefeel to it accented with flower and vine designs. I think it's pine but I am not sure. Has handle screwed to the top along with a latch on the front circled with a vine design. Inside is lined with paper. Beautiful folk art example. Chest measures approximately 33" W) X 11 3/4" H) X 7.5" D) Other than what you see- I really have little information about it. It was purchased from an estate several years ago and aside from the paint scene. Hardware and construction, it's hard to say how old it is but I believe this to be old, but that's my opinion. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have come about based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable and listed below as I understand them. Barrel Stave Trunks(1860-1885) they generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. over the top) Giving it a slightly different look. The word"stave" in this case refers to the wood slats. These trunks were mostly made from the late 1860's until about the mid 1880s when the other dome construction methods listed below became more widely used. Often early examples of this style have a graceful. Well proportioned look and the later examples into the 1870's are quite simply well made. This trunk is in good condition. Obviously it will show wear marks from age as it is over 100 years old. No rotted metal or holes present. Aren't you just drawn to these old trunks?To me. They represent a much simpler time in this country. It's that emotional connection that makes them so appealing to collectors, and will only increase the value of the piece in time. I have done my best to describe this piece. It is very old and will contain the usual wear marks of typical everyday use and travel. The lighting makes the copper look like it is unevenly aged, but it the coloration is consistent, with variations looking natural form time. The box has 2 small paper labels, and I will try to write a bit of what the one with writing says. Note that part of the top and sides are unreadable by me. Nice Small VINTAGE FAUX LEATHER COVERED TRUNK Grip Child Travel Chest Miniature
This lot is a gorgeous little faux leather covered trunk. Probably dating from the early 1900s. It only measures about 14" long by 10" wide by 7" high. I have been informed by an ebayer who seems to have some expertise on old trunks that this piece is covered with fiber or vulcanized fiber. Which looks like leather but is much tougher. I'm not sure if this trunk was originally intended for a child's use or for a lady's personal items. But it is a very high quality, well made piece. Look at the last photo- Even the bottom is finished as well as the rest of the trunk! The original fabric lining is still intact. The only stone I can throw at it is part of the lock mechanism is missing, which is probably a blessing, because it's easy to lock yourself out of an old trunk like this. Bound in oak and leather with canvas ... morepanels and two interior tills. It looks like a treasure chest to me. I left it uncleaned and unrestored, just the way I found it. You can leave it dusty, or you can clean and polish it to make it pop. Ornate metal hardware(Victorian) Oak wooden slats. Tacked leather edges and decoration. The leather handles are still good. Canvas panel sides and top. Fabric lining over wood interior. Two divided tills as shown. This is trunk is in reasonably good condition for its age. The exterior shows the character of more than a century of age and use. Which includes cosmetic marks, scratches, scuffs, and oxidation to the metal surfaces(all of which looks cool to me) The exterior is dusty in general. There are a few missing nails and rivets. The metalwork and wood have a decent patina that would look even better if polished or restored. Some wood edges are well worn. The leather is dried and cracking in places, and is missing in other places as seen in the pictures, but I think still looks good. One of the four rollers underneath is not functional. ANTIQUE EARLY 1800's LEATHER COVERED BRASS STUDDED WOOD BOX VINTAGE 19TH C. TRUNK A rare original. Early 1800's, small trunk or document box that is covered in leather and has brass studs. It has a lock in the front and a brass handle on the top. The inside of this trunk is what I love about it! There is the original paper lining with a printed man, in a top hat, riding a horse(of the period, see photo) The lid is held in place by the leather construction and there were never any hinges. This wonderful old trunk measures approximately 13" across x 6 1/2" wide x 5" tall(not including the brass handle) I have taken close up photos to show the condition. There is wear to the leather with one side missing most of it(see photo) The rest is crackled and may have a bit missing, here and there. It is missing some of the brass ... morestuds and the paper on the inside does show wear and tear. This old trunk is over 200 years old but is still mostly together! This small red leather box measures 6.5cm long by 2.7cm wide and 2.7cm high. excluding the handles. The lid is tooled with a pretty flower shaped indent in each corner. The lying is original blue patterned paper and the base is covered with original pink paper with hand written initials. The handles are made of the same burgundy leather and are in excellent condition. I have used this box to store needle packets. However it could be used as a child or doll's sewing box or a dolls' handbag/holdall. This is a very early pretty box. Vintage Flat-top Small 20" Steamer Storage Trunk Chest Luggage Leather Handles
This listing is for a rare small vintage flat-top storage/travel trunk. The inside has been clear-coated to seal it and it has no strong or offensive odors. The trunk measures about 11-1/2" tall. 19-3/4" wide and 12" deep. It is still strong and sound, but does show damage from water, including staining. The outside has some scratches and tears from use over the years, including a small one on the bottom corner where the wood is exposed. The outer latches work as they should and sufficiently hold the trunk shut. The center latch closes but does not stay shut. We do not have the key to the lock. The leather handles seem to be in great shape. Cosmetically it has a nice rustic look and is a nice small size for storage or as a decorative piece. This is a big vintage trunk that doubles for a nice bench as well for sale. This stands 20" tall. Is 42" wide, and is 21" deep, big roomy trunk with lots of storage space. Looks like this may have been an antique trunk that somebody decorated with floral fabric on the sides, put a leather lid on it, and added some wheels. It is very handy and can store a lot of stuff. Good condition with no major damage, does have one rip on the fabric but its on the backside as pictured. Wheels and lid work great, neat old trunk. Item pictured is the actual item offered. 30 1/2" long. 17" wide, 13 1/2" high. Plate rivited below latch on front says"K K YOSHIDA SEISAKUSHO- JAPAN" I'm not sure how old it is because my internet research conflicted. I found sources that called it a Japanese WW2 item and others that called it a U.S. military item(made in Japan) for use during Korea and Vietnam conflicts. It shows it's age but would polish up nicely. The interior is painted green and there is some paint loss. The tray divider is missing. The leather handles are in good shape. The latches have some play in them and don't lock down tightly. About the lock/hasp: It was locked when I bought it and I successfully picked the lock and removed it. Beautiful antique trunk. I had someone online look at pictures and he estimated it was from about 1890. The research I have done myself leads me to believe it was made between 1870-1890. It is made of wood and covered in leather. I believe that it's pine but I could be wrong. There are metal bands across the top and around the edges. Please see pictures this truck is old and has plenty of bumps and bruises. The leather handle straps are missing and there are several patches of leather missing on the top and front. There is also a crack in the lid. It definitely needs some TLC but is still beautiful and has tons of rustic charm. There is paper lining the inside that is torn and has some spots. Rare Large Antique 1900s Hornback Crocodile Alligator Leather Suitcase Trunk VTG
Incredible and very rare early 1900s hornback crocodile/alligator full size suitcase. It measures: 29.5" L x 9" W x 18" T and is very heavy weighing 22LB! the inside has some stains and the leather straps are quite worn. The outside skin has general age related wear. when closing it fits inside 3 brass clips which can be very tricky to line up as its heavy and stiff but once closed it locks pretty easily. overall its in very good antique condition and presents beautifully. Due to its age. Size and weight, I would say its much more suited for display than use. Truly a remarkable piece!

Antique Old Vintage Wooden Steamer Trunk Traveling Storage Chest Leather Rivets!
Hi. Thanks for visiting. I'm selling my antique steamer trunk because of the fact that we're downsizing our living situation. Otherwise, I would certainly hang on to it- it is really a nice piece. I acquired this at a local antique store about ten years ago and have kept it on display ever since. It is made mostly of wood. With some metal rivets and leather straps. I'm not sure when it was constructed, but it is definitely of significant age. It measures approximately 34" long by 21" wide by 24" tall. The trunk is obviously old. So it isn't in perfect condition. One of the metal buckles has come loose from one of the leather straps, for instance. While Originally used as an Early Masonic/Freemason Wardrobe Box. It was repurposed by a Mr. Irving L Eales as a Comedy Kit. Mr Eales lived from 1883- 1918 in Janeville, Wisconsin. The trunk is in Extremely Well-Kept condition with no rust or major flaws. Besides the leather carry handle being broken in half, the box shows light surface scratches, wear& writing.

Doll Trunk - Disney Princess - Sturdy with leather straps
This is a beautiful doll trunk- Disney Princess. This is not cardboard. It weighs over 6 lbs and is sturdy with real leather straps and real heavy duty doll clothes hangers. I believe that this was an American Girl steamer trunk or it is very similar. It is perfect for an American Girl Doll or for numerous Barbie Dolls because the trunk holds a lot. Nice enough to give as a Christmas gift and some little girl would be very happy. I've seen these trunks selling for $200 used. Trunk is 20" high x 8" deep x 10" wide. It has a shelf for shoes and two drawers. A rack for hanging, with real wire hangers, and a ribbon on the other side to hold the doll into place. It has two sturdy clasps on the side with a safety on them so they don't just pop open.

Flat Top Leather Handle Wooden Slat Brass Hardware Steamer Trunk Chest
Notes/Observations: See Photos. Grand old trunk. From the research I have done and the travel labels that are on the trunk. I would say this is c1920s and saw a lot of action on American railways. This is a Flat Top trunk. Which makes it particularly good for use as a coffee table. This trunk has Wooden(oak) Slats. Which now have a rich patina from years of use. The lock is open and appears to be functional. But we don't have the key. The edges of the trunk are leather tacked into the wood. There is one area where the leather has split. Some additional tacks will handle this. The exterior surface of the trunk is fabric over wooden construction. The fabric is holding up very well. No fraying or missing pieces, The corners and some of the edges are metal bound. The metal has a nice dark patina. The leather handles on the ends are split. ... moreNew leather is needed there. If you restore this trunk. Then I hope you get a leather worker to make new straps(which would look great) Bottom of the trunk has wood slats over metal sheets. Inside. The fabric covering is in bad shape. The interior does not smell musty, Nice trunk. And a good item to start with if you are looking for a restoration project. Also good and usable the way it is if you like an unrestored look. Overall size: 32 3/4" wide x 20" deep x 12-3/4" high One of the wood slats is in need of repair. To keep this trunk in the same condition it is now. It will be wrapped/taped in cardboard for shipment. The listed shipping costs are for deliveries made to the lower 48(USA) states. Antique Vintage Chest Steamer Trunk Leather *Local Pick-up ONLY!
I am not sure how old this trunk is. It is in very rough condition. Please see pics for your own judgment on condition. Some rails inside are missing and or broken off that I believe was for an inside tray. The two side leather handles are worn off. There are still leather loops around the trunk that I think the straps would have gone through to secure but the actual straps are gone as well. There is no key. There are 3 shipping stickers from address destinations still intact for the most part but are very difficult to read. 2 of them are from"American Railway Express" and the other says"Dominion Express. The outside of the trunk has a canvas like texture to it and may have been partially painted brown at some point. The trunk itself is real wood construction. From the inside the top of the lid has a paper type covering but ... moreis peeling and you can see the wood planks through it. The trunk has the traditional metal corners and trim work. I will say that the latches and center lock are pretty cool looking. The top is a little different than most of the trunks I have researched. I usually see a flat top or dramatic dome/curved top. This trunk has a slight curve to it that you can view from the side pics. Lastly. The pictures make the trunk look lighter because of the camera's flash than in person. It is a bit darker live. Antique Trunk w/Original Tray New Leather Latches Circa 1860's Pro Restored
For sale today is a beautifully restored stagecoach trunk with a slightly curved lid and is a smaller size trunk. Based on 40 years experience I would date this trunk to the 1860's which makes this neat old stagecoach trunk as much as 154 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the wood bottom is solid. Has multiple coats of clear, three original slats which are thicker than normal, three original metal wheels and one new metal wheel and the trunk rolls easily. The two original hinges are HD, tight and the lid closes well. The center lock is polished and there is no key. The black leather latches are new, fancy, tight and work well. The original tray remains and the interior has been removed. The metal/tin is in VGC. A new cloth lid stay has been installed. There are 5 solid hardwood ... moreslats in a golden oak color. VINTAGE GENUINE LEATHER TRUNK CASE STEAMER BOAT TRAIN BRASS HARDWARE EARLY 1900s. AMAZING VINTAGE GENUINE LEATHER TRUNK/ CASE WITH BRASS HARDWARE- This stunning piece is approximately 35.5" wide x 20.5" tall x 9.5" deep. It is made of thick rich genuine leather with a gorgeous patina in hues ranging from brown to cognac to tan. It has two wooden skids on the back for protection. And it comes with a removable tan canvas cover and a pair of long leather straps that wrap all the way around the bag. The straps are damaged, and one of them is torn so it no longer fits all the way around the case. I would recommend replacing the straps. There is a lovely dark blue fabric interior lining. And t here are two functional brass hardware latches on this trunk. The central latch was removed from the case at some point. And is not included. ... moreBecause it was taken off, I am unaware of the maker of this amazing piece. A previous owner installed 4 small steel casters on the bottom of this trunk in the style of a pullman suitcase. These could easily be removed or replaced with brass ones to better match the rest of the hardware. Overall. This case is in remarkable condition for its age. It has aged incredibly well.
