Antique 1910 EXCELSIOR Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Leather 42" x 23" Yellow
Early Vintage Travelling Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk dates back to about 1910. 42" tall X 23" wide and deep. Cured genuine leather stretched over a sold wood frame. Yellow in color with a nice patina. All edges and corners protected by brass plating. There are 6 functioning ball type wheels on the bottom which allows the user to roll the trunk while flat. And an additional 2 functioning wheels allow the user to roll the trunk while standing on end and towing with the leather handle(picture shown) All metal edges do have some wear but this gives the trunk a great look. The locking hardware is functioning. And is stamped EXCELSIOR#4230 Made in Stamford, Conn USA. Excelsior began making this lock in 1910. The locking mechanism is controlled by the exterior latch which in turn stabilizes the drawers for travel(shown in picture) There ... moreis 1 key from the Independent Lock Co#1076 Made in Fitchburg. Mass USA(valued at $18.95 on Ebay) The interior fabric is a copper monochromatic damask which is in good shape considering the age(picture shown) Once settled at their destination. The traveller may lift the padded top portion of the trunk up using the attached hinges to reveal and unlock the hanging garments(see main picture) There are 5 drawers which feature the same copper damask on their fronts. And brown lining within(picture shown) The top drawer is missing the lock, the bottom drawer is missing the handle, and both drawers do have a little water damage. There are 4 original hangers(1 shirt. 1 pant, and 2 coat) These hangers rest upon a chrome bar which extends outward 18" to allow the traveller to peruse their garments and avoid wrinkling. The hanging garments are protected from dust during travel by a copper damask curtain that snaps closed at the bottom. Approximated weight is 85 lbs. For your bidding consideration today. We have a rare antique child or doll size antique steamer trunk, just like the big ones! The trunk is made of wood, with a tweed looking covering on the outside. This trunk stands up like the larger ones,with drawers on one side, and the opposite side has the lift top,with a hanging bar underneath. It has a center lock, and two side closures. The center lock is marked USA EXCELSIOR STANFORD CONN. The drawers have wood sides, and I think heavy cardboard on the front, back and bottom. They have a leather pull on each drawer. It is rare to see a trunk made this way in this size. The piece measures 22" tall, and 10.5" wide and deep. There are some spots, on the bottom if you had the piece standing up, on the outside and inside, maybe water damage, I don't know. There is scattered spots on the ... morehe outside, and I have not attempted to clean them. There is some rust on the hinges, and bumped corners that show the wood, and the leather handle at the top is missing. All in all, a very nice collectible that would be great in a children's room, or could be used for a doll display. It weighs almost 10 pounds before packing. Antique Corbin G23 Hollow Barrel Skeleton Key, Steamer Trunk, Cabinet, Excelsior
Antique Corbin Lock hollow barrel skeleton key marked'G23' One side says'Corbin Cabinet Lock Co. and'New Britain Conn. The other side says'G23' but the'G' is barely visible. It measures about 1.25 inches long. I am unsure what the ley is for. But it's either a trunk or a cabinet. Please inspect pictures. The condition is good. But slightly worn. The'G' is very worn and hardly noticeable, the'2' is barely visible and finally the'3' is more distinct. The top of the key is slightly bent. Specks of rust in the dark patina, but nothing really of note. Please inspect pictures, I never clean vintage items so it can be cleaned up a bit if desired. Rare WWII vintage Excelsior trunk. I believe it to be American made. The outside is black and is missing side handles. The front lock is attached but broken. The inside is in fairly good condition with only a few signs of wear. The lining is blue and white with a swastika motif.

This vintage 1950's or 1960's doll trunk/case is in very good condition with no smoke or musty odors and not a lot of wear. The red metal case has a few small dings and some minor paint wear& scratches. The paper lining has minor wear along the back edge behind the drawers(see photo#10) And the drawers have some separation along the edges(the drawers could be easily repaired with a little glue-see last 2 photos. The stickers that have been applied to the 10 3/4" square x 20 1/4" tall trunk are: American Airlines, Wisconsin Central Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Trans-Canada Air Lines, Braniff International Airways, Chicago And Southern Air Lines, Hotel Clark-Los Angeles, Union Pacific, American Airlines Air Mail and a 1910-1960 Boy Scouts For God And Country sticker. The brass lock, hinges& clasps are all intact and in good working condition, but they do have some finish wear(there is no key for the lock. The brass corner guards are also all intact(and they have some finish wear as well. The black leather handle is soft& not brittle, but it does have a partial tear(see photo#5. Due to the weight of the trunk, it could completely tear through if you were to pick it up by the handle, so you may not want to use it. The lock clasp is marked: U.S.A. EXCELSIOR STAMFORD, CONN. 97 20" is stamped on the underside of the trunk. Excelsior part number 04421 These trunk latches are made from SOLID Brass(except for spring) And lacquered to reduce tarnishing. The name“Excelsior” is stamped under the latch. Please note: The brass is very bright and shiny. So photographs do not fully capture its quality. The overall assembled oval dimension is approximately 2-1/4” high by 1-1/4” wide. The material in the interior features decorative swastikas, good luck decorations that predate and are unrelated to Nazi Germany. Note the key is missing. Nevertheless, it is a fine vintage item, the like and condition of which are seldom offered. Hinges and latches are in great condition. Antique brass Excelsior chest or trunk lock set. Comes in what seems to be the original box. But not completely sure the box matches the lock. You can compare photos of the lock and the box. Box says it's Lock No. 510-U x 163(see photo) Lock is stamped X143 on the front and 88B on the back. Lock is really nice and heavy with barrel skeleton keys. Measures nearly 6 inches long.

Excelsior Oak Slat Trunk, Rare size, 1880s, Tray, Key! Steamer, Chest
Beautiful. Professionally restored, 1880's Excelsior oak slat trunk in a size rarely found. Measures: 30" x 23" tall. 18" deep In 40 years of trunk collecting and restoration. I have never had another one of these Excelsior trunks in the smaller 30" size(most are 34 to 36" wide) A great size which can be used in many places, with super storage, and it's a true collector's piece. The wood is stamped twice with the"Excelsior Patented Jan. 7, 1868" mark right under the lock(see detailed pictures) It has custom made thick leather handles, solid brass Eagle lock with original barrel key, a wooden lift out tray, and the original lid compartment. There are four original heavy rollers on the bottom. All of the hardware is original and in great condition. The wood was carefully hand cleaned and finished ... morewith satin tung oil finish. Beautiful wood grain and only minor signs of age and use. The interior was cleaned out and refinished since the wood looks so nice. There is an original pocket envelope in the lid for cards and papers. There is a nice old chromolithograph and fancy Victorian trim in the lid also. These trunks were very limited in production and are much harder to find than other trunks! Very strong, well made and heavy for their size. These trunks were made to be the strongest trunks available and also to be attractive enough to use as furniture in a home between trips. Excelsior Oak Slat Antique Trunk Amazing Unrestored Condition!
Beautiful late 1880's Excelsior Oak Slat trunk. This trunk is an amazing condition. And is a rare size. The trunk measures 34" long, 22" wide, and 30" High. The trunk is quite high and wide for a 34" trunk, and it looks great! The 5 slats on top, and the 8 surrounding the base are held on with large head saddler nails. The handles are original and in pretty decent shape. The latches are large#4 cast iron, the valance is 1 1/2" wide instead of the usual 1 1/4" and the working lock, with original key, is solid brass. The interior is original, and the top is complete. Unfortunately, the tray and cloth lining is missing from the bottom. One of a kind walnut slat covered trunk. In the style of the original Excelsior patent 1868 trunks! Size: 24" wide. 21 1/2" tall, 17" deep. Custom made antique style Victorian wood slat trunk. Made from solid walnut and cypress lining with antique hardware and working brass Eagle lock with key. Great for so many uses including coffee table. Bedroom storage, retirement or graduation chest, sea captain style chest for your yacht, etc. This is a rare flat top trunk style with an"octagon top" or beveled corners. Rollers, leather latches and handles, wood insert and functioning letter compartment.All original. Has original J.G. Allen Trunks paper label stating its purchase. Which recently sold a similar trunk for $1,395: This trunk style was first patented by Jonathan S. Eaton of Roxbury. Mass. granted on Jan. 7, 1868. The unique feature was a trunk that is completely covered with strips of wood over a thick wooden body, making it more durable and attractive than others. In the patent description, Mr. Eaton explained that this trunk could be given a fine finish which would make it"useful even as a piece of furniture suitable for a chamber" yes, that means"room" to us) The name"Excelsior" was given to the trunk style after the patent was granted and it means"superior" or"the highest standard" The oak slat trunks were made in the U.S. but not by the Excelsior Lock Co.
