It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. Immigrant Dome Top Country Pine Treasure Chest Trunk. Hand crafted about 1830 in northern Europe. This immigrant trunk or"treasure chest" has original wrought iron mounts. The wonderful old finish is very well preserved. Waxed and polished. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. Carved wooden pegs and hand planing marks show expert country workmanship. The lock is incomplete and there is a leather strap to pull open. Corners have hand cut dovetail joinery on this furniture. 19th C. Dovetailed, Dome Top Immigrant Chest Trunk, Old Grey Paint, Medium Size
This is 19th century hand dovetailed domed top pine chest with old gray paint and traces of red. The name"Louis Becher" is painted on the side and top. The chest is a really nice medium size(39.5"W. 17"H, 18"D) it could be placed on a large table or on the floor. The exterior shows prolonged signs of use, but the interior is extremely clean. The hardware is all original but there is a missing clasp on the lock. It is very solid, the hinges work well, and it is otherwise completely functional. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of constructionmethods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have comeabout based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable. Listed below as I understand them.The word"stave" in this case refers to the wood slats. These trunks ... morewere mostly made from the late 1860's until about the mid 1880s when the other dome construction methods listed below became more widely used. Often early examples of this style have a graceful, well proportioned look and the later examples into the 1870's are quite simply well made. This trunk is in good condition. This large trunk has a beautiful patina. It appears to be in excellent condition with the noted scuffing and scratching that comes with age and transport. The paint in the address is bold and bright. Hardware is all there and has a beautiful patina. Large key is original to the trunk. Hinges are sturdy. Has been used for the past 20 years as a blanket chest. Beautifully restored antique dome-top steamer trunk. Metal sides and top are embossed with an intricate floral design and braced with oak slats. Contrasting black metal covers the corners and edges and is decorated with floral braces at the corners. Metal lock and fasteners and front. Two leather side handles have their original wear and really emphasize the age and history of this piece. The inside of the lid has a charming decoupage design. This piece is both decorative and practical for storage. It most likely dates from the late 1800's This piece has been restored and is in very good condition. There is. Large Wood and Embossed Tin Hump-Back Dome Trunk
Up for auction is a beautiful vintage trunk whose main flaws appear to have originated from a missing key. The hinges seem to have been pr i ed off. Leaving all of the hi n ge present but no longer attaching the lid to the bottom. The center lock and the latches on the front are all locked. The center one is in a flexed position and isn't moveable. I didn't want to push too much so as to damage it further. There is a little surface damage to the tin from what I assume was the prying open. Particularly aroun d the right latch. T he leather of both handles is missing as is the in terior tray. Otherwise. It appears to be in beautiful vintage cond i tion. The embossed tin is in a floral pattern. The wood is in good shape. There is a small crack in the one wood strip. But it seems to be from a vintage repair and I onl y found it after ... moreseeing the nail tip sticking in to the inside. The paper inside is in good shape for it's age and there is no odor inside. This auction is for an Antique 1870's Dome Top Steamer Trunk. It is patented on the latches July 1. 1873. In addition the latches have a sideways locking mechanism to keep latch closed(see pictures) This trunk is in very Hard to Find, untouched original condition. It has its original embossed leather top and dark finish on metal& wood. There is a thin original leather covering on the front, back, and sides. Leather has a nice Eastlake design in the front. There is an old yellowed finish or conditioner that is flaking on the top of this leather. Seems like it may be original finish or preservative that was just put on this leather(not leather ... moreon top) I did nothing to this trunk inside or out except to dust it off. No leather conditioners or furniture polish or anything else was used on this trunk. It is as found from large Estate and looks like it hasn't been touched in decades. Someone at one point put on new hinges with wood spacers underneath hinges. I removed hinges and found that the original hinges were broken where the strap meets the barrel. Spacer was just placed underneath and is not glued to the trunk. I put replaced hinges back on so it can be used. The inside of the trunk still has its original litho's intact. The tray and inside bottom section of truck has its paper lining which is coming up or missing in some places and has stains. Paper in lid with 2 litho's is also missing some paper. Stains can be seen where paper covers original hinges on the 2 box lids. Girl on lid of larger box that lowers down and has original latch. Rider on horse is above smaller box lid. Both litho's are in outstanding condition for its age. The outside of trunk the handles are missing on the sides. It has heavy duty latches and hardware. Original Brass lock. This exquisite time capsule survived WW1& WW2. Silent movies, the sinking of the Titanic, and the Russian revolution; has laid dormant for over 100 years waiting for the next romance. A very nice antique French hand made trunk by noted trunk maker J. Krogner. Krogner established his business in 1850 and a contemporary of other builders of his day such as Goyard. Vuitton, and Moynat which are considered among the finest. Krogner's store was located at 11 Avenue De L'Opera. A thriving location in the heart of Paris. Near the Paris Opera House. Moynat and another well respected maker. Au Depart, were also located on that street in close proximity. 1890s Majestic Dome top antique trunk. This is a quite large and ornate trunk with many features. This trunk has a lot of storage space and will fit into just about any decor. The outside has the Sunburst embossed pattern on all four sides and the top. The grooved hardwood staves have a beautiful grain. The use of vertical staves on the front adds a lot of character. Description: EXCEPTIONAL. Early 19th Century TIN DOCUMENT BOX, in Original condition. CHROMOLITHOGRAPHIC FLORAL DECORATION. Done in a classic TOLEWARE Style, is still 90% or better complete, better than I have ever found in this area. ALL ORIGINAL. The colors of Turquoise, Red, and Yellow, though now muted with age, are still relatively bright. Many of these old Tin boxes were faded over the years, or worn, so were then handpainted over the decoration. This one is ALL ORIGINAL, and has never been altered or painted over. Even the TRIM lines are still relatively complete. Again. There is WEAR and muting, but still very very discernible and bright, without being garish. Large-domed lid still has most of the golden TRIM around it. Even the golden DECORATION around the top handle is still nearly complete. SIZE: Approx 9 1/2" long. 8 3/4" ... morehigh. Not counting handle. 6 1/8" deep. CONDITION: Very very good. Best I have ever had. HOWEVER, the LATCH is MISSING. I can pick up by handle and it stays closed, when EMPTY. One small, 1" sep at back. For your consideration is a ca 1880 dome top steamer trunk. I t has been fully refinished. The originally outside paper covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. The metal covering. Top and front, were sanded, primed and painted with lime green paint and then stain applied to give it an aged look. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. The hinges and lid stay are strong and work properly. All hardware was cleaned and sealed. The working lock comes with a key. The leather side handles are new. The bottom is clean. It has a new tray. Nice Refinished Antique Curve Top Steamer Trunk With Nice Polished Metal and Interior Tray Here is a very nice clean. Refinished fancy embossed patterned metal arch top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. Here are this beautiful trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 34 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 1/2 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 19 1/2 inches. This nice trunk is made up of original fancy square or checkered patterned metal along with oak outer slat boards. We wire wheeled the fancy metal to bring it up to a nice shine which is probably very close to what it looked like back when it was sold in the 1800's. We also refinished the outer slat boards by giving them three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. Overall, this trunk is in very nice condition. We brush painted the rest of the metal ... moreby hand in black and gold leaf. The fancy metal is polished, not painted. This one has the original lock. It is missing the key hole cover. It does work with the key we have provided. Since the key hole cover is missing, the key has less guidance into the lock. With some practice, you can engage and disengage the lock with the key. The front latches are original and do work since the springs are still intact. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. We say Amish made because we obtain all of our leather items for these refinished trunks from an Amish man here in Pennsylvania near our home. This would be a fabulous trunk to put at the foot of the bed and store blankets and other clothing items inside, and it is sturdy enough to sit upon the top if you need to do so while changing your clothing. To tell you the truth, this trunk would look nice anywhere inside your home where storage space is needed. Going to the inside, we have made a nice tray for you that rests at the top edge where the original one once did. 1800's dome hump camel back steamer travel chest trunk alligator skin design
Thanks for looking at my listing. This sale is for a very unique piece of history. It's called a steamer trunk dome style from the 1800's. Made of wood and metal. Great craftsmanship, there is a ton of detail available on this trunk. It's beautiful, and features an alligator skin"cover" over the center portion of the trunk, as well as on the sides. There's still the original victorian picture on the inside, and the tray is there as well. The trunk is damaged on the left hinge, and it appears someone at some point tried to fix it, but the wood split. A beautiful piece to have and restore, or just keep it the way it is for history sake. I don't know much else about it, like the origin, or how many families it went through. 1870's Dome Top Trunk Size: 28" wide. 18" tall, 15" deep front to back. A beautiful wooden dome top or barrel top trunk. Probably from the 1870's. Great looking trunk with beautiful dark pine and hardwood slats. Original hardware, including cast iron latches, bottom wheels, and with heavy duty corner bands. Entirely original condition with no modern upgrades to preserve character. A great collector's and decorator's item and will certainly be a conversation piece. It's very strong and a great size for lots of storage space. With a deep interior. This trunk was made in the late 1880's as determined by the style. The lid has a nice high rounded shape that used to accommodate ladies' hats. The early lithograph of a lady in a period hat in the lid is original. Original leather handles missing(many that you see today are reproductions) Decorative latches work well; key not included with lock. NY) Barrel Top or Barrel Stave trunks(because of the ribs that mimic a barrel) or Dome Top, Camelback, or Humpback for the curved lid. The two closest examples I've found both sold for $795. Although they had been refinished. To preserve the original finish and details, and in case a collector would like to refinish it himself, I haven't had anything done to it.

T his lovely dome-top trunk measures 34" wide. 19.5" deep and 22" high. Its beauty is the embossed tin ivy pattern and the oak straps and trim. We have used it for 30 years as a central decorative piece with the added advantage of storage space. Old trunks fit into every decor. Small casters are built into the base for rolling. Glides were added prior to our ownership. Most probably to protect the casters. These can be easily removed if desired. The leather straps rotted out years ago, a common occurrence for old trunks. This Original Steamer Trunk is AMAZING! Does not have a tray. But everything else is completely original and in Fantastic shape. Missing the left side leather handle, but pieces of leather still there. The Brass plating is still in incredible condition and the design is Awesome. Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top Embossed Metal Hardwood Slats
We recently purchased this attractive antique steamer trunk at an estate sale. It has a very slightly domed top and it's covered with embossed metal in a floral design. The trunk still has both of its original leather handles and they seem to be pretty sturdy. It measures approximately 30 1/2" long X 17" wide X 19" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats on the trunk look to be in good condition and all of the metal and wood on the trunk is all held in place with brass plated tacks. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. There are four(4) tiny metal wheels near each corner on the bottom which makes it easier to move around on any hard flat surface. ... moreThe key is missing for the old brass lock and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two metal clasps that keep it closed tightly in front, one of these is bent and does not close properly, it will need to be repaired. There is quite a bit of surface rust on all the metal on the outside of the trunk but there is no rust through and there are no holes visible. The inside is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining. Most folks like to remove the old paper, sand down the interior and then either seal the wood or line the trunk with cedar, this eliminates any lingering musty odors and makes it a nice place to store blankets or seasonal clothing at the end of your bed. Trunks like this are becoming very difficult to find and eventually I'm sure they will be extremely rare. Their uses are many and will only be limited by your imagination. There is a paper note on the top. Which would easily come off, stating the last time it was used was 1925. All original and unmolested, with removable tray and compartments adorned with the original lithographs. The interior design, with the lithos, look like the MM Secor or Martin Maier trunks I have seen listed, including the size, look at some of them. The exterior is ornately decorated with iron, steel and leather. A lot of the ornamental leather has cracked and flaked off, the right latch has a break in the loop, it still functions fine. Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Key, & Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is a real nice refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 16 1/2 inches. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This lovely dome top appears to be made up of poplar base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. Some of the boards are rough cut. lumber. These are boards that were used straight off the saw mill and still have the saw blade marks on them since they were not run through a planer. There ... moreare also some typical older character marks or distress marks on the wood which include older nicks and dings in various places along with some hairline stress cracks. Just about all of the trunks that we refinish have some form of distress marks including these that we have mentioned. This dome top comes with the original working lock. It appears that the key hole cover is missing, although we have still matched up a key that does activate this lock. The front latches are original and do work properly since the springs are still in good condition. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The fancy slat board cap metal that drapes down over thr front from the dome top has patent dates on it. It is hard to clearly make out the date. We have shown a picture of one of these patent dates. It looks to read, Patd Mar 15(or 16) 80" referring to 1880. The side handles were gone and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Technically, this is a hat or bonnet trunk, but many refer to them as half trunks as well. My wife actually purchased this some years back and it has been in my collection, but now it's time to make room for a"larger model" This trunk is actually a little smaller than a true"half" trunk, but it has all the hardware and adornments of the larger fancy dome tops. This auction is for an Antique Childs Hump Back Trunk. It is 16 by 9 inches and 10 inches high at the dome. It has a lift out shelf or drawer with two compartments. Only one side has a lid. But I think originally there was one on the other side also. There looks to have been a spot inside the lid where there was another picture. The trunk may have been painted the copper color but the wood is still its natural color and whether the black on the tin staves is original I don't know. By the look of the ends I am not sure if there were ever leather straps but I would think so. This is estate fresh so I have no information about it. It is sturdy and well put together. Absolutely amazing dome Steamer Trunk. Very nice black and wood look. In outstanding condition for its age. Has the top compartment and the original label that refers to the James Dooley company that made high end trunks and luggage in downtown New York City from the Mid to Late 1800s. Additionally it is adorned with many stickers and customs tags from the various places it traveled. Please see all pictures for detail. This trunk has had some work to it and may need a little fixing up if desired by new owner. It seems to have a lacquer like finish. I think it looks great the way it is with the exception of maybe new handles. MINIATURE OR DOLL ANTIQUE DOME TOP WOOD TRUNK
Up for bid is a very nice antique miniature or doll size wood dome top trunk. Believed to be from the last turn of the century. This small wood trunk, is covered with a brown and black paper, wood slats, tin corners, tin hardware, cardboard trim and once upon a time, leather handles. The paper is missing or torn in some spots, as is some of the original cardboard trim, and the handles are missing. The inside is a whole different story, fashioned with wall to wall wallpaper, and a tray to boot. There is a cloth strap inside which once held the trunk top open, so that the top did not break the hinges, when let go of. The strap can easily be re-fastened to the inside lid. The inside contents as found appear to be doll clothes and blankets or quilted items, and your getting those as well. Priced high over the years, I probably only ever owned ... moremaybe a small handful of these in the last 40+ years of being in business of buying antiques. They are rare to find, especially in such nice condition as this. A great project piece, just waiting to be refinished and used to keep jewelry, make it into a humidor for your cigars, or give it to a small child who might want to use it for dolls or small collectibles. The trunk measures 16" in length x 10-1/2" high x 9-3/4" wide. The trunk measures 21 ½” x 12 ½” x 7” deep and is 12 ½” high to the top of the dome, and has the initials GB or GE on the top in very small lettering. The top has some cracks in it from the drying of age, and a couple of small spots of green paint(see photos) construction looks to be all solid one piece pine boards, all solid and intact, hinges and top all tight and intact, with a beautiful aged patina. 19c EARLY ANTIQUE BRASS STUDDED LEATHER TRUNK DOME TOP STAGECOACH ERA PRIMITIVE
Offered here this outstanding brass studded leather dome top trunk. Trunk is very sturdy and has stood the test of time. A true survivor. Trunk measures 20 1/4" across 13 1/2' front to back and is 8 1/4" tall to top of dome. As you can see there is some wear and chipping to leather, other than that no damage. Hinges are intact and firm no loosenes at all. All the brass studs are there and it has it's original cloth lining which is quite beautiful in itself and doesn't have any tears. Weighs 15 pounds unpacked. I believe this is circa 1850 to 1860 and I can picture this trunk on top of stagecoach. I wish it could talk and tell me where its been. Vintage Wood Storage Treasure Dome Chest Trunk with Brass Inlay and Trim Inside Tray Here is a beautiful wood storage chest trunk for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. Not sure whom the maker of this great piece is. My guess is that this chest was made in Asia. But again just a guess. Not sure what the wood type is. It does have some great graining in it. What is really eye catching with this chest is the brass inlay and the designs they make on all sides of the chest with the exception of the bottom. Neat design to hold the lid in place. You open the chest and there is a wood plate on the back of the trunk that holds the lid up instead of just a chain or strap. There is a nice wooden tray with a carrying handle that sits snugly in the top of the chest. I see no major cracks. Splits, or repairs to the wood to ... morereport to you. The latch on the front of the chest and the hinges appear to be made of brass as well. For that little pirate in you or a loved one. This chest just has a great look to it.
