This trunk dates back to the late 1800's. Here are the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This large dome top is made up of pine base wood, ash or oak outer slat boards, and the dome is made up of early ply. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. This one has a lot of distress marks which include areas on the wood that are darker in color, probably due to moisture in various places on this trunk. Also there are stress cracks running across the top wood that makes up the dome. There are typical nicks and dings in various places. This particular trunk was a little more weathered when we received it than most of the trunks we refinish. So we did make it as nice as we could, but do want to mention some of the characteristics. This one comes with the two factory original working locks. We have matched up a key that does work in each of the locks. You can lock your personal belongings away from others if you want to. The metal parts making up this trunk are not brass, so we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps and the handle caps have an embossed star on them. You could store a lot of belongings inside this trunk since it is pretty large. It may look nice at the foot of the bed in the bedroom or anywhere in your house where storage space is needed. If you are one who enjoys collecting rustic more primitive style antiques, then this one might be just the right one for you since it is more rustic than most trunks that we refinish. Antique Child's Doll Trunk. Dome top, embossed tin, very small & cute!
Hello, Today I am offering an antique child's dome top trunk. I was told it is circa 1880s. It is a beautiful combination of black and silver. With a lovely star pattern. The inside is covered with antique wallpaper. It comes with the original tray. It is 14 inches long, almost 8 inches wide, and 8 3/4 inches at the tallest point. This trunk is super tiny and can fit into almost any space! Unfortunately. Due to the age of this piece, it does have a few flaws. It has dings, dents, and scratches. There is a small gap on the top between the tin and the wood, it is featured in the 7th photo. Two of the little slat clamps are broken on the end, and one is bent. One of the brackets on the inside isn't level and causes the tray to be a bit tilted. Also, I do not have the key. Buy it now or make me an offer! If you have any questions. A Ladycomet Double Lock Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest,Key,Tray
Gorgeous Extra Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Double Latch Style Lock. Working Key, Interior Compartment Area, and an Interior Tray Here is a rare find since this trunk is exceptionally loaded with fancy hardware and it comes with the beautiful double latch lock. This beautiful dome top should date back to the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 24 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. This wonderful trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards, and the dome top is made of early ply. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve it and make it look ... morenice. There are some typical older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. These distress marks are quite common and typical on just about all of the trunks that we refinish. The base wood has a tannish brown color while the outer slat boards have a more medium or walnut brown color. This trunk maker must have spent who knows how many hours applying all of the fancy metal hardware to this trunk. We counted how many metal hardware parts are on this trunk which include the lock, latches, and wheels. It came up to over 90 pieces. That is just incredible. We have not had a trunk this fancy in quite a long time. We wish we could find fancy trunks like this more often, but they are hard to come by. Some of the fancy metal rosettes that are on the top slat boards have been pressed flat over the years of being shipped on railroads and having other trunks and items stacked on top of them. They are all there, just we wanted to say that some are flat and some are still domed. It's not a big deal, we just thought we should mention it so there won't be any surprises. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is absolutely beautiful very nice decorative refinished dome top hump back steamer trunk from the late 1800's. The particular d imensions for this are 28" length. 16 1/2" width and 18 1/2" height. This beautiful trunk would make a great trunk for a college student to keep stuff in, or for someone to store old photo books in. This would also make a wonderful Christmas gift for you or someone that you cherish. To begin the restoration of this trunk we began ... moreby taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and on the inside. After all the sanding was done, we then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We also found on the metal a patented date of March 16. 1872. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. With this particular trunk we installed a new lock with 2 working keys. The lid has the original picture and original label. The label has written on in"Baer's Evansville Trunk Factory" Evansville. The all hand made lock looks to be made in a very old style that I am not familiar with. Definitely pre-industrial revolution. The interior is clean except for some dust. Hinges are a bit loose. I will tighten them up. Possible harden the wood receiving the hinge screws. The trunk has no obvious markings. I don't about the paint it is in good overall condition probably less than half the age of the trunk( my guess! really REALLY cute size and nice piece. For sale is a huge 1800's immigrant steamer trunk. Best guess is German or Swiss. Has a man's name on the top, AUGUST GEUNERT. NEW YORK. I bought it in Pa. At an antique store. They said it belonged to a Doctor. In Philadelphia.They bought this and several Hepple White pieces. From his estate. It is massive. 45 inches wide,22 deep, and 25 1/2 inches tall. And weighs about 75 pounds. Has a some issues with the wood. Please see photo's. Most are the 1/4 inch trim that surrounds. The lid base. A very easy fix for a carpenter. All the straps are present and in great shape with only the hinge. Front pieces altered. The lock plate is 6 3/4 by 4 inches in great. Condition.I do not have the key. A Ladycomet Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Key & Tray
Fabulous Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key and Interior Tray This beautiful trunk sure has taken on quite a transformation from the time that we have purchased it. It was very rustic and in dire need of help. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 inches. From floor to top is approximately 25 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely dome top top should date back to the mid to late 1800's and it appears to be made up of pine and poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has a nice reddish brown color to it. There are some typical older distress marks on the wooden surfaces. These markings include older nicks and dings along with some slight ... moreareas of discoloration. The majority of the trunks that we refinish have similar distress marks. This one comes with the original working lock. We have found a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The metal parts that make up this nice trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. This one was missing the front latches, so we have run a pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. Instead of having the metal latches, you can use the straps to secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled in addition to the working lock. As far as repairs go, there were two pieces of hardware missing where the outer slat boards meet. So we have replaced these with some home made pieces that look somewhat similar. There was also a section of an outer slat board missing, and we replaced it with a piece of slat board from a parts trunk. Antique Dometop. Dovetailed oak chest looks to be 19th century, beautiful scene painting around entire chest. I do not know anything abouut this scene. All I know is it is beautifully handpainted. I don't know the artist or maker. I purchashed from an estate sale. The colors are blue, green, white, and a yellowish tone. It is some type of ocean or beach scene with sheep, trees, a sailboat and a house. The paint on top of the chest is really wearing. This is a beautiful old piece. Refinished Civil War Era Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest Very Nice
I am listing a Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Civil War Era Trunk. This trunk is probably from the mid 1870's period. As some of the hardware is marked 1872. T he trunk's dimensions are from left to right across the front- 26 inches. From floor to top is approximately 19 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 inches. I have removed all of the original paper that covered this trunk, inside and out. The trunk is made entirely up of pine wood. The wood has been finished with three coats of clear lacquer. The wood is in great shape with a couple of stress cracks in various places which are quite common on trunks this old. This one comes with the original tray. The front latches are also original and do work. The side handles are really unique and quite rare to see anymore. They are made of wood and are usually broke. These ... morere in excellent shape. Going to the interior, I have finished the interior wood with two coats of clear lacquer. The interior is in pretty good condition considering how old this trunk is. The exterior bottom underneath the trunk has normal wear. It also has the four factory original rollers and slats. I gave the bottom a couple coats of lacquer as well to make the trunk overall cleaner. If you have any questions about the trunk, just ask me. Thanks for looking. It is lined with a floral patterned paper and has a beautiful lithograph containing dogwood tree blossoms, a child in victorian dress and two children that appear to be Eskimo/Inuit with a dog. One of the children is riding in a sled with the other standing behind probably on the runners. As you can see. This tray is in pretty rough shape. It retains an amazing paper label that reads(Gilb Haight Sadler– Cap& Harneff(not misspelled- that is exactly as it is spelled) Maker– Water Street– Corner of Fly Market) This travel chest is a wooden box covered with a material that I am unsure of. Possibly very old dried out oil cloth or paper, adorned with a brass handle on the top, leather straps/bands along the top and sides with brass tone studs along the top and sides. A brass tone front locking mechanism, but we have no key. The box measures 10 inches wide 6 inches deep and 4 ¾ inches tall. It is in need of restoration but is a very old and unique item that would make a great antique display. Beautiful Antique Dome Top Trunk, Outstanding Hardware, Exceptional Interior
Beautiful Antique Alligator Tin Dome Top Trunk Very nice mid-sized dome top trunk from the 1880's. This trunk has been 100% professionally restored and is absolutely beautiful. The original alligator tin still remains and has been cleaned. Polished, and preserved with several coats of stain and Tung oil topcoat finish. The stamped tin hardware has all been polished with a wire wheel and really looks nice against the oak slats that surround the body. The oak slats were all cleaned and sanded with steel wool giving the wood a smooth, almost soft feel and a very rich, warm color. The black trim was cleaned with a wire wheel to remove and surface rust or imperfections, then painted with 1 coat of metal primer and 3 coats of flat black paint. The flat black is a great contrast against the semi gloss finish of the Tung oil on the slats and ... moretin. Very solid trunk all around, nicely built, hinges are strong, all hardware is included. The handles have been replaced with new 3-ply leather for many more years of life. The interior of this trunk is second to none and in my opinion is the best you'll find in the marketplace. A friend of mine does most of my trunk interiors. She's been doing trunks for 30+ years and her work is exceptional. Absolutely beautiful design and border that coordinate perfectly together. 100% glued in so it should never peel or loosed over time. Tray is included, but a key is not. It has been stripped to the bare wood on the inside and out and is a very clean trunk. The one thing I would point out is that there is a crack in the top as show that is just due to age and adds some old time charm to it. American folk art painted dome top trunk. Ca. late 18th century to early 19th century. Constructed of white pine, nailed construction, with original old red stain/ paint base coat and black stain/ paint decorations of plantation house, horses, what looks like a man with tricorn hat and horn, geometric designs, birds and animals. Dimensions: Length 32" Depth 15" Height 19" The box retains its original metal wire hinges. The box has a completely original finish. It is a little shiny in the pics because I used a little lemon oil on a cloth to dust it off. This is a great box and is quite early. The stain/ paint finish is dull, but could probably really be improved apon by someone who cleans artwork. This is a ca.1830 Ladies dome top refinished pine trunk. It is 23.75"x 11.75"x 9.5"high and weighs 10 lbs. It was originaly covered in deer hide which was removed years ago. The hand forged lock. A Ladycomet Refinished Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key
Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Hidden Interior Compartment Area Here is a beautiful refinished dome top trunk from the late 1800's that we have just finished up on. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 1/2 inches. We removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards, and the dome top looks like early birch ply. We have prepared and finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve it and make it nice. The wood is in decent condition considering the age of this trunk, and you can see some saw blade marks on the ... moreboards at the front of the trunk which are from the rough cut lumber which was used on this trunk back in the 1800's. This trunk maker put a nice amount of fancy hardware on this dome top. All of the metal parts which are on this trunk are not brass. We have brush painted the metal parts by hand in black and gold leaf. There are some patent dates on the fancy cap metal near the dome. It is hard to make out the exact date, although we have shown a close up picture of this patent date. We have given this trunk a lock off of a parts trunk since it was missing the lock when we purchased it. The lock we installed does work properly and comes with the appropriate key. The front latches are original on this trunk and do work ok since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, this trunk has a nice feature which is the hidden compartment are on the underside of the dome. We have recreated the door that drops down to show this area. Small. Wood, domed doll trunk. It has a metal closure at front that remains but does not lock. The trunk is in well used condition. There are markings on the lock"PA HC" and some indiscernible numbers. Pennsylvania Hardware Company(Late 1700's) The age is approximate. Very useable as a storage trunk for small items or dolls, but also fabulous for a display piece or photo prop. Measures 8.75"D x 21"W x 8.25"H.Circa 1908. The metal strapping has pieces that are broken or missing. Some of the metal details are missing or broken. There are some boards on the bottom of the chest that have been replaced with new wood. This is an old Hump Back Trunk. With a pirate l ook. It is original. As far as I can tell. The metal covering has some dings/dents and may have been painted at one time. Beautiful Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Interior Tray Here is a really fancy beautiful refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely hump back chest is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are typical older distress marks on the wood which include older scratches and nicks in various places, although the chest is very sturdy and can be sat upon the top if you want to do so. This trunk maker put a lot of nice metal hardware on this trunk. The metal parts that make up this trunk ... moreare not brass, therefore we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. This trunk also comes with the original patent dated working lock. This is the first time out of well over a thousand trunks that we have had this style of lock. It is patent dated on the key hole cover which is the only brass part on this trunk that we have semi polished. It reads, Pat Mar 69& Apr 77" There is a close up picture showing these dates. We did match up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. You can lock your belongings inside this beautiful trunk away from others. The front latches are original cast iron nice ones that still work since the springs are still intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a tray or insert for this trunk. It rests at the top edge where the original one once did. The interior wood and tray have received two coats of polyurethane. We did leave the fancy paper border in place on the underside of the dome and we added two nice trunk maker's style pictures to the underside of the dome. Considering how old this trunk is, the interior is in pretty good condition.

Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Antique Trunk w/ Tray, Lock & Keys
Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk with Working Lock and 2 keys and original tray. This is a very nice. Clean refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the metal we sanded all the wood and then applied polyurethane by Minwax. On this trunk are two new Amish black leather handles and two original latches to keep the lid secure. Also on the lid there is trunk stay to keep the lid open when wanted. We also attached a new lock with two working keys. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. What is also so special ... moreabout this hardware is that it still has the patent date of March 1880 noticeable on the hardware. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. Remarkably with this trunk there is the original tray in very nice condition. The lid of the trunk also has the original secret compartment. Finding a lid like this is very rare especially the one this trunk has because it still has the original pictures that are neatly in tact. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied polyurethane to the bottom to give it a new refinished look. The bottom also has the original casters in working condition to ease with moving the trunk. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed. It could also be used by a college student. It could also be used as a blanket chest. This trunk measures approximately 28 inches high; 34 inches wide; and 21 inches deep. I believe it is late 19th or early 20th Century. It is in need of major restoration. The outside is peeling badly. The wood under it seems to be in good condition. The outside strip on the highest point of the dome is cracked. The lid hinges move freely. One leather carry strip is broken. The other is still in tact. The lock is missing. The outside bottom is metal. Three of the four casters are in tact. The fourth is missing. This trunk measures 24 1/4" x 14 x about 17" tall. As you can see from the photos on the left this trunk has been painted sometime in its past. The bottom tin is black in color with four embedded wheels near the corners. This leads us to believe that the original color of the tin on this trunk was black. You can see in the closeup that this trunk is covered with an embossed floral patterned tin covering held in place with wood straps with very ornate angle pieces at the corners. This trunk has 2 latches and one hasp type lock. Unfortunately the key for this lock is long gone. The hasps both close snugly but appear to be a little fragile. Up for auction today we have a very nice refinished antique trunk- dating to the late 1880's- this trunk is wood with tin covered over the wood. The original trunk came to us with drab green metal on the sides and front and top. The back has a marbleized yellow pattern on parts of it. I sanded the wood slats and stained and treated them with Tung oil and polyurethane- they shine and are beautiful. The top I painted hunter green- adding a nice"pop" to the trunk. It is not period by any means. Just cool and colorful. I finished the black metal sides with flat satin black and then polyurethaned the other parts of the metal. We replaced the handles and the trunk is solid- heavy- with the original four small castors on the bottom, making it easy to roll on carpet. Antique Victorian HumpBack / Dome Top Embossed Tin Steamer Trunk 1800's/1900's
Very nice steamer trunk with colorful green embossed flower tin top. Back hinges in good working condition. Center lock[no key] is marked"Eagle Lock Co. Terryville Conn, USA" The two latches located towards the sides of the front work well. Once engaged. They are secured and released by a small lever on the side of the latch. They are marked"Pat Jul 972" The handles are metal and do not appear to be original. But they look very consistent with the trunk and are solidly mounted. All four wheels on bottom are present and still work. There isn't a lift out drawer or hinge stop. The trunk measures approximately 33" long x 18" wide x 24" tall. The trunk weighs 16 lbs[just the trunk- without packaging] I trust you can tell from the pictures that the trunk isn't perfect. But is in very usable condition ... moreas-is. The inside is clean and the over-all vibe is very nice. The green color of the embossed tin is very pleasant. Please read the item description and review the photos before bidding. This is an antique. Victorian period, child's wood dome top doll trunk. The doll trunk was acquired from the estate of a doll collector and it is in good clean, antique condition. The lid has metal brackets, trim and latches. The exterior of the trunk is covered with a faux wood and metal trim pattern paper. The interior and the tray are covered in a yellow floral pattern paper. A lid on the tray compartment has a picture of a Victorian woman. The tray has an open compartment. Too(no nail holes or other indication that there was ever a lid on this side) The trunk is 14" long x 8" wide x 10" tall. The paper cover on the exterior has darkened with age and there are some cracks and chips in the paper cover. The burlap straps on the tray are missing. The ... morelid's hinge section(burlap and metal? on the back of the trunk is missing. The paper decoration on the interior has some bubbling, tears/cracks and chips. There's a horizontal tear in the paper on the inside of the lid along the wood seam line of the wood lid.
