Up for bid is a rare original SMALLER antique trunk/chest. It has leather over wood with metal strapping and sitting on four metal roller/wheels. This chest has the original lock.but…no key. It also has the original paper lining with a Victorian style picture on the interior lid. There is also one area where it looks like someone wrote their initials in pencil. The exterior leather is intricately decorated with artwork depicting geometrical designs. The leather is fastened with numerous studs or tacks. Measurements are 25” x 14” x 13” The Bad: This trunk/chest is completely original so shows evidence of its age. Many“bumps and bruises” through the years as you can see in the many pictures I took. 1870-1900 Victorian Antique Steamer Trunk or Chest, of the "Titanic" Era
This is a well preserved. Collector-quality antique chest with a rounded top. A photograph aboard the Titanic shows a trunk very similar to this one. The well-known"Titanic" which sank on its first voyage. Though thought to be unsinkable. Read about the"Unsinkable Molly Brown" saved alive from that ship. Steamer trunks" were standard luggage for traveling aboard ship in those days. Nothing is missing on this trunk except the key to the lock! Helpful for someone interested in restoring it. Even the antique leather handles( 150 plus years old) are strong and intact! and were used to lift the empty trunk for its recent journey from its purchase point. View the photographs of each of the thick leather handles. Recently purchased from an estate sale in Southern California. For its age, this"treasured" chest is ... morein truly in excellent shape. The trunk opens and closes work as should. There is no warping. No"musty" smell. This trunk is as is. With all of the interest and beauty of its aged condition. On the edges where the lid and the lower portion of the trunk meet. The flower-embossed tin sheet metal shows the patina's original condition, a golden copper sheen. The sturdy sheet metal on the very bottom of the trunk is plain un-embossed sheet metal. Black in color with wooden slats. In a"grease pencil or crayon" on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats appears"32 x 84" The bottom of the trunk shows evidence of wheels once attached in each of the four corners of the trunk. No labels have yet been discovered in the trunk which would reveal more about its origins. There is some writing on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats indicating"32 x 84" This trunk or chest is better than average condition from what I've seen on eBay. Up for sale is this beautiful restored antique victorian flat top low profile steamer trunk with working key. It measures 34 1/2" long by 20" wide and 12 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The Trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is very functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. Vintage Wood Storage Treasure Dome Chest Trunk with Brass Inlay and Trim Inside Tray Here is a beautiful wood storage chest trunk for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. Not sure whom the maker of this great piece is. My guess is that this chest was made in Asia. But again just a guess. Not sure what the wood type is. It does have some great graining in it. What is really eye catching with this chest is the brass inlay and the designs they make on all sides of the chest with the exception of the bottom. Neat design to hold the lid in place. You open the chest and there is a wood plate on the back of the trunk that holds the lid up instead of just a chain or strap. There is a nice wooden tray with a carrying handle that sits snugly in the top of the chest. I see no major cracks. Splits, or repairs to the wood to ... morereport to you. The latch on the front of the chest and the hinges appear to be made of brass as well. For that little pirate in you or a loved one. This chest just has a great look to it. Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Civil War Trunk with Working Lock. 2 Keys and a hidden compartment in the top of lid. My husband and I have refinished over 130 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice refinished Civil War trunk with a small amount of a dome in the top of lid. Imagine what this trunk has been through being used during the Civil War time in our history's past. The particular d imensions for this are 30" length. 17" width and 17" heig ht. This particular trunk would be a nice trunk for a college student. Or a wonderful place to store keepsakes. We refinished this particular trunk by taking ... moreoff the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. Inside and out. The inside of the trunk was built with the rough cut appeal so we sanded finely to leave the natural look. A fter t his. We applied Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the trunk a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Attached to the lid of this trunk we applied two new chain stays so it will remain opened when wanted. On the inside of th e lid you will find a secret compartment. It folds down so you can store small things in there. Working the way down to the b ottom of the trunk you will notice that it is in wonderful shape. With no holes or cracks in the wood. THE 2 HOLES ARE A LITTLE OVER 3/4" DIAMETER AND IN A HEAVILY REINFORCED AREA ABOUT 1" THICK. THERE ARE 2 LEATHER STRAPS MISSING ON THE SIDE WITH THE LATCHES. A HANDLE WAS INSTALLED WITH WOOD SCREWS ON THE BACK ABOVE THE OAK TRIM LEAVING 4 HOLES 1/8" DIAMETER. THE FACE SHOWS AN INDENTATION BUT IT IS NOT AS BAD AS THE PHOTO SHOWS. THE METAL CORNER TRIM IS ALL THERE BUT ONE RIVET IS MISSING. SOME OF THE OAK HAS SEPARATED SLIGHTLY FROM THE CORNERS BUT ARE STILL INTACT. Here you are bidding on an"Antique Carpenters Handmade Work Chest/Trunk. This is a big heavy trunk that measures 37 1/2 inches wide X 23 1/2 inches deep X 23 inches high. It lifts opens to expose sliding drawers on different levels to storage spaces as you get closer to its bottom. The top starts off with 2 sliding drawers with lift open tops. Next there are another 2 sliding drawers of different widths, next level there are another 2 sliding drawers of different sizes and dividers and then there are 2 more sliding drawers of different sizes and dividers. As you reach the bottom you have three stand up dividers that seperate the bottom into three sections of different size spaces. All the drawers slide forward and back and all can be removed as well. These sliding drawers inside and divisions were for tools of all types as well as storage ... morefor chisels, planes, and saws. There are nice brass handles at either end and a lock mechanism in the front(key not included) This is quite an exquisite piece with a lot of history. All dove tailed and handmade and all levels of draws that slide with no hardware on them at all. It's really hard to believe the work that was put into making something like this. It's quite large and really is best lifted by two people- a piece of history that i can safely says dates to the mid 1850's. It is also in very good condition and has been well preserved. Vintage Belber Trunk Chest Wardrobe Travel Gotta See - Really Awesome!!
The previous owner of this trunk would have been 105 this year) It is a really cool looking trunk with the 5 drawers. The old hangars, the briefcase like drawer that slides in under the clothes, and what looks to be an ironing board that has paper covering it(we did not take it out- we left it undisturbed) We do not have keys, the big lock on the front was popped but looks to be okay. There is a sticker or two that say Belber(which is how we knew that much about it) We believe this is all original and it is in pretty good shape- it does have marks and wear due to use and age but it seems to be a very solid piece and would be awesome restored. Antique RailRoad Steamer Trunk Horse Buggy Chest. Cast Iron Hardware and Brass Lock. This was a traveling chest. Most likely RailRoad, has old stickers from traveling from state to state but there hard to read do to being old, weathered and in poor condition. Has owners name painted on side of trunk and below name Cincinnati, Ohio. Inside has blue maker tag, most of the tag is missing. Trunk is in Fair to Good condition, trunk is solid with no wood rot, All the cast hardware is good, cast iron and brass lock, some of the cast iron hardware is ornate and of good quality for the time. Front latch locks have a midevil look. Missing one wheel but the caster that holds the wheel is good. Trunk has paint loss, scuffs and scratches, rips in material, rust ect. Measures approx. 38 3/4" wide x 23" tall x 22" deep. Flat top will make ... morenice rustic coffee table. Inside has one tray, seems little small, not sure if it goes with this trunk. Nice Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps & Key
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles and Working Lock& Key Here we are offering you a nice primitive refinished arch top or dome top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one is an arch top since the sides of the trunk at the top are the same height as the center of the top. On dome tops. The center is a little bit taller than the sides. Here are the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 inches. From floor to top is approximately 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 1/2 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of rough cut pine base wood with some type of hard wood outer slat boards, maybe poplar or birch. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in it's natural color since we did not use any stain during the refinishing ... moreprocess. We did glue a stress crack on one of the top outer slat boards. We are saying it is primitive since there is more wood showing on this trunk than fancy metal hardware. Also the boards are more crudely put together in which there are some small gaps where they joined the wood together, especially on the inside on the bottom. The rough cut boards that we speak of show the saw blade marks from the saw mill since they were not planed down when this trunk was made. This one comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. We have found a key for this lock that does work properly. The front latches are original. We have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. In addition to the lock and latches, these straps secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled. The side handles were on this trunk. They are metal. One is roundish in shape while the other one is a little more rectangular. We have shown a picture of the more rounded one. Going to the interior, the back hinges have been remounted with screws to ensure strength. We did install a lid stay so the lid

Steamer Trunk Dome Top Pirates Chest. I'm not sure if this is pre or post 1899 but it is a solid trunk. There are bulit in rollers on the bottom. The trunk is not rotted. The interior was covered in contact paper. I pulled it off exposing the original paper or what's left of it. The inside of the dome has reside from the contact paper. The leather straps are broken. There isn't a key. Trunk has a wonderful patina showcasing its age. Refinished Monitor Top Waterfall Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With 2 Locks &Tray
Gorgeous Refinished Antique Monitor Top Steamer Trunk With Two Working Locks& a Key and Interior Tray Here we have finished a lovely. Fancy monitor top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 39 inches. From floor to top is 25 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 22 1/2 inches. This beautiful monitor top gets it's name from the late 1800's USS Monitor warship. It was a metal clad frigot that must have had this type of shape to it. Anyhow. This trunk has the waterfall or Deco style edge at the top. It is really neat how the trunk maker made the slat boards bend down around the edges. It is a pretty steep bend and it is incredible how they can make the boards conform to it back then. This beautiful trunk consists of rough cut pine and oak base wood with ... moreoak or ash outer slat boards. A lot of the boards are not planed down, they are straight off the saw mill and have the saw blade markings on them. If you look at the close up picture of the top, there are some boards on the top that are wormwood in which there are little holes here and there on the boards. You may seem some in the picture. A lot of antique collectors like to find furniture that has this type of wood on them. The wood has been prepared and finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect the wood and give it a nice appearance. This trunk comes with a lot of fancy metal hardware and a very nice feature are the factory double locks which do work and are signed. They are signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does work both of these locks, so you can store your items under lock and key away from others if you want to do so. The center latch is also original and does work properly since the springs in intact. These monitor tops only come about for us to refinish in a ratio of about 80 to 1 in which we only get about 2 or so a year to do. There is msutard yellow and light blue showing thru the chippy surface. There are normals signs of age.
