I purchased this in ... morethe Amish area of Pennsylvania about 30 years ago. It is in the same condition as it was when I purchased it. It is complete with the tray and the top has a compartment with a hinged door. The inside and the tray have been lined with wallpaper- beautifully done. To the best of my knowledge. All of the leather is original. It has the original Brass Lock with a star pattern. The key is included and the trunk does lock. The trunk automically locks when you close the lid. If the key is not present. The key must be in the lock and turned to the unlocked position to open the trunk. Measures approximately 30" Wide(without the side straps) by 17" Deep by 15" High. Stained a Medium Brown- Base is made from Pine with Oak Slats. It does have a crack on the top. But to me, this just adds to its appeal. Other than a few very minor scratches. Refinished Flat Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Key, & Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Original Interior Tray Here is a really nice large refinished flat top steamer trunk that dates to around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 24 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 21 1/4 inches. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood on this trunk has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The base wood on the top between the slat boards is rough cut wood. It is not smoothed out like the boards on the rest of the trunk. You might notice this in a close up picture that we have provided. There is a slight contrast in color on these top boards compared to the rest of the boards on the ... moretrunk. The wood is in pretty good condition throughout this trunk. There are some older typical distress marks in various places which include some older nicks and dings, mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. This is a true flat top trunk with no factory arch. This gorgeous trunk has a lot of fancy metal hardware. The metal components that make up this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk comes with a signed working lock. It is signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. We have shown a picture of this signature and we have matched up a key that does work properly in this lock. The front latches are original and in good working condition since the springs are still intact. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched handle straps. This trunk originally had a pair of leather straps with buckles. They were eroded away, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top in the very same location where the original ones were. Rare Antique Maier Oak Slat Beveled Top Trunk, Vintage, Restored, Tray & Key!
Here is the trunk for your collection! This beautiful rare trunk was made by Martin Maier& Company of Detroit from the 1885 to 1895 period. Based on the actual dates of manufacture of the hardware. If you see a trunk with this type latch it was not made in the 1870's as many other sellers state. Because they were patented in 1882 and used into the late 1890's. I do extensive trunk research. Size: 30" wide. 22 1/2" tall, 20" front to back. A fabulous rare size, great for many uses! Very few Martin Maier slat trunks are found and even fewer flat tops with the beveled corners such as this one. This style was advertised in one of their catalogs as a"Rustic" trunk covered entirely with hardwood slats. Superior quality and based on the Excelsior trunk patent of 1868. Which most people now call Oak Slat Trunks ... moreor Victorian slat trunks. Maier established his trunk company in 1865 after serving in the Civil War. This special trunk is not common in any way! Martin Maier& Co developed their distinctive narrow slat alternating color style trunks and they are very hard to find in such good condition. These are made of hardwood strips of oak or elm and another darker wood, over an all wood body. These trunks were made to be impressive and were more expensive to make than the ordinary metal, leather, or canvas covered trunks. That's probably why they are so rare today. The special corner"lid stay" hinges are marked Pat'd April 1879 and were patented by Martin Maier too! The front catches were patented in 1882. All of the trunk's hardware is in good condition and the wood has no breaks or missing wood. No sand blasting, sanding, or polyurethane coating has been done on this trunk exterior as some other restorers do. The trunk has a very smooth finish, which is hand rubbed tung oil, the finest antique furniture finish. The interior is also beautiful with a large Victorian chromolithograph, and the Maier label! Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock. Leather Straps and 2 Keys My husband and I have refinished over 120 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice decorative refinished flat top steamer trunk. The particular d imensions for this are 36 1/2" length. 21 1/2" width and 24" heig ht. The size of this trunk will make a great coffee table. This particular trunk is pine with oak or ash slat boards. We refinished this particular trunk by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and a little on the inside due ... moreto the rough cut wood that the inside was made out of. We didn't want to alter that finish too much. We then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. One of the stress cracks is on the top. If you notice it in the picture. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Along with the lock we attached two new Amish made black leather handle straps and buckles to help the lid stay securely shut when wanted. Up for sale is this beautiful restored antique victorian flat top low profile steamer trunk with working key. It measures 34 1/2" long by 20" wide and 12 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The Trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is very functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. Antique Hartman steamer trunk w/ original lock and key, coffee table, vintage
For your consideration a beautiful antique steamer trunk from the turn of the century manufactured by Hartman of Racine Wisconsin. This trunk features its original locka with original key both function flawlessly. The trunk retains all of it original hinges buckles and both leather handles which are all in excellent condition. The trunk also retains the original Hartmann and Gibrlatorized logos which are also in excellent vintage condition and can be read easily. The inside of this trunk is in as nice of shape as the outside showing one small tear in the material on the top side of the trunk. Easy fix. The inside is lined in a silk type of material. The trunk is missing the inside shelf to divide it top to bottom. The exterior condition shows very minor scuffs, no dents it has a couple of paint dots on it here and there very non distracting ... moreand it adds character to the piece. This would work perfectly as a coffee table or storage at the end of the bed for blankets and pillows. This is truelly a fantastic conversation piece and is in excellent vintage condition. You don't often find them pretty well intact with the original key and lock. There are no pry marks across the top edge either as it has its original key. The measures ments of the trunk are 36 inches side to side, 23 inches deep and 25 inches top to bottom. No reserve auction, high bidder wins! I will ship this trunk via Greyhound package express to the closest Greyhound terminal of the winning bidder where it will have to be picked up. They will hold the piece for two days for free. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice refinished Civil War trunk with a small amount of a dome in the top of lid. Imagine what this trunk has been through being used during the Civil War time in our history's past. The particular d imensions for this are 30" length. 17" width and 17" heig ht. This particular trunk would be a nice trunk for a college student. Or a wonderful place to store keepsakes. We refinished this particular trunk by taking ... moreoff the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. Inside and out. The inside of the trunk was built with the rough cut appeal so we sanded finely to leave the natural look. A fter t his. We applied Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the trunk a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Attached to the lid of this trunk we applied two new chain stays so it will remain opened when wanted. On the inside of th e lid you will find a secret compartment. It folds down so you can store small things in there. Working the way down to the b ottom of the trunk you will notice that it is in wonderful shape. With no holes or cracks in the wood. Nice Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps & Key
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles and Working Lock& Key Here we are offering you a nice primitive refinished arch top or dome top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one is an arch top since the sides of the trunk at the top are the same height as the center of the top. On dome tops. The center is a little bit taller than the sides. Here are the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 inches. From floor to top is approximately 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 1/2 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of rough cut pine base wood with some type of hard wood outer slat boards, maybe poplar or birch. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in it's natural color since we did not use any stain during the refinishing ... moreprocess. We did glue a stress crack on one of the top outer slat boards. We are saying it is primitive since there is more wood showing on this trunk than fancy metal hardware. Also the boards are more crudely put together in which there are some small gaps where they joined the wood together, especially on the inside on the bottom. The rough cut boards that we speak of show the saw blade marks from the saw mill since they were not planed down when this trunk was made. This one comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn U.S.A. We have found a key for this lock that does work properly. The front latches are original. We have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. In addition to the lock and latches, these straps secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled. The side handles were on this trunk. They are metal. One is roundish in shape while the other one is a little more rectangular. We have shown a picture of the more rounded one. Going to the interior, the back hinges have been remounted with screws to ensure strength. We did install a lid stay so the lid

Antique Trunk Hardware Heavy Solid Brass Trunk Lock w/ Key by Hillebrand& Wolf. Lock plate measures 3 1/4 by 4 1/2. Hasp measures 3 3/4 by 3 3/4. This lock has a very rare locking mechanism. It is one of the few trunk locks that will lock without using the key. This is accomplished by a spring loaded locking pin. However. Whats more unusual than that, is what can be called a safety latch. Inserting the hasp into the lock, locks the trunk, but you can use the key to turn the latch even more, which is a secondary locking position. This made it harder for thieves to pick the lock. Rare Antique Gold Rush Stagecoach Trunk, 1860's, tray, key, Restored and Lined
A beautiful and rare stagecoach or"gold rush" style American trunk made from about the mid 1860's to 1870. It measures 31 1/2 inches wide. 20 inches tall, 18 inches deep. Made of thick pine with metal banding and hardwood slats, attached with dozens of large brass buttons! A fabulous and impressive looking trunk which is very hard to find with six bands and in such great condition. The original lock is complete with the fancy brass cover and working key. The handles are the original style, sliding arrow design, attached with the original holders and brass buttons. A new all wood tray was made which makes the trunk much more useful inside. It was thoroughly cleaned out and relined with nice quality fabric in blue and off-white colors. I preserved the original large lithographed picture in the lid, which shows a lady on horseback ... moreand her dog! The bottom is in great condition and has the original metal rollers. A nice high rounded top which allows for more storage inside and gives it a great look. A real piece of American history and very useful in the home. All my trunks are kept in a smoke free and pet free home. Careful packing and shipping or delivery in the U.S. is included with the listed price. This key does not have a manufacturer's mark, but it could be either an Eagle or Corbin or possibly Excelsior. Though with the more ornate bow I am not sure.
