Nice Refinished Clinton Brand Flat Top Wall Trunk With Manufacturer's Label. Working Lock& Key, And Interior Tray Here is a very unique refinished patent dated and factory labeled Clinton Wall Trunk. Here are the following measurements: from left to right across the front is 33 1/4 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This trunk is named a wall trunk since it can be put right up against the wall and the lid can be lifted up without hitting the wall since very little space is needed for it to open properly. Most trunks need to be about three or four inches away from the wall for the lid to be opened. Look at the pictures and we have shown the signed and patent dated hinges. It is signed, Clinton Wall Trunk Mfg Co Clinton Mass Patented Feb 25 1890" We detailed these embossed numbers ... moreand letters with black paint to make them more legible. We are calling this a flat top steamer trunk, although there is a very slight factory arch to the top, noticeable in the side view picture. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. The wood is in it's natural color which is a tannish brown color. There are a couple of typical stress cracks in the wood. Most all of the trunks that we refinish have one or more stress cracks. The front latches are original and work ok since the springs are in place. We have given this trunk a nice older sturdy working lock, signed"Yale" It comes with the proper key so you can lock your personal belongings away from others if you choose to do so. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a nice tray for the interior. It rests at the top edge. You can sort smaller items in this tray, then lift it up and place many more items deep inside the belly of the trunk. We have shown a close up picture of

Ladycomet Refinished Flat Top Angle Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key&Tray
Beautiful Refinished Flat Top Wall Trunk With Working Lock& Key. Interior Compartment Area. And Interior Tray Here is a very unusual fancy refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the following measurements: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. It is unusual in which the top and back and front slat boards are angled at about 45 degrees. We have only had about four of these over the past thirteen years to refinish and that would be out of around 1500 trunks. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This beautiful trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. There are some ... moretypical older distress marks on the wood. These character marks include older nicks and dings. Mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards, and there are a couple of stress cracks. The majority of all trunks that we refinish have these type of markings. This great trunk comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Yale& Towne Mfg Co Stamford Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. This trunk maker used a very nice amount of nice hardware on this trunk. A lot of it has embossed patterns to the metal. The front latches are original and they have a big number"3" at the top of them which we have highlighted in black paint. The metal parts making up this trunk are not brass, so we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. The trunk maker also did a good job of running vertical and horizontal outer slat boards on this trunk, especially on the sides. It is not very often that you have two vertical slat boards and a horizontal slat board running on the sides of the trunk. Anyhow, it gives it a nice, unique appearance. The side handles have been replaced with sturdy Amish made black leather stitched straps.

Eagle was the largest trunk and cabinet lock maker in the world. They exported their locks to the West Indies and South America. Eventually the company was sold to people who lack knowledge about the lock business and proceeded to make many bad decisions. Barely holding on in the early 70's another individual bought the company from Penn-Akron Corp. Which had gone bankrupt. Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Trunk with original Working Lock. Original key, and straps. Here at Trunks-n-treasures we take pride in the trunks that we have refinished for the past 8 years. We have refinished hundreds of trunks, each one with the craftsmanship that we have learned from growing up around our grandparents watching them run and refinish furniture in their antique shop. This particular trunk is a very nice, clean refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed the canvas from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the canvas we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil as a finish. After much research we have found ... morethat by using tung oil, not only does it not leave such a strong odor as other finishes, but it also penetrates the wood preventing the wood from drying out so quickly. On this trunk are two new Amish leather handles and two new latches to keep the lid secure. Also on the lid of this trunk you will find the original trunk stay. This trunk also has the original working lock with the original key. Due to the age of the trunk, having both lock and key is a rarity. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk also has new leather straps to help keep the lid fastened and to bring back the originality of the trunk. Many trunks this age had straps such as those that we replaced to help keep items secured when traveling. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied tung oil to the bottom to give it a new refinished look and repainted the metal black. Antique 19th C Wood Box Trunk Linen Chest Brass Lionhead Handle Orig lock no key
Up for auction is an antique 19th C small trunk or linen chest recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It is found in good used condition but has many surface scratches to all sides as well as having some wood loss. Photo 9. We are not sure if it was for linens, small furs, or what but it seems too large to be a glove box. This measures 11.75 x 23.5, an unusual long and thin table top size. This is 9" tall. This is missing an original nut on the handle. This has brass reinforced corners. A very nice pice in a net size. Best of luck in bidding.

Beautifully Refinished slight arched Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key. Straps, Buckles, and Interior Tray Here is a really nice. Beautifully refinished slight arched top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. This steamer truck has a very slight factory arch to the top, which may be noticeable in the close up side view picture. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 inches, from floor to top is 20 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash outer slat boards. The wood is in nice condition and has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older distress marks including some older nicks and dings on the wood along with a few stress cracks. This great trunk has a nice ... moreamount of metal hardware. The metal is not brass and has been brush painted it by hand in black and gold leaf. A nice feature on this trunk is the original lock that does work and has a key. The front latches are also original and in good working condition since the springs are intact. This trunk has a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles running up the front and across the top and part way down the back in the same location where the original ones once were. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. Going to the interior, there is a very nice wood interior and tray, which has been given two coats of polyurethane. This truck would make great lifetime lasting gifts for loved ones on special occasions. It seems to be quite fashionable these days to own one of these forefathers' refinished trunks. There are quite a few influential people purchasing these nowadays. This trunk can be passed down to future generations, kind of like an heirloom or special piece of furniture. The style is a round top Saratoga trunk type and I have an old catalog advertisement from 1891 showing a similar toy Saratoga trunk. I'll include a copy of that. The strap width is 1" and the buckle is 1' x 2" It would make an interesting belt if you want conversation about your belt.there are possibilities. Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Original Multi Divided Tray Here is a great refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900 or so. We are calling it a flat top although there is a very slight factory arch. These are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. The wood is in pretty good condition although there are some typicl distress marks or character marks. These include older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. Just about all of ... morethe trunks that we refinish have some of these older distress marks. This one comes with the original working lock. We did find a key that will activate the lock mechanism. The front latches are original and work ok since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass. If they were, we would have semi polished them. Very seldom do you come across an American made trunk that has all brass hardware. The metal parts on this trunk have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This lovely trunk would make a great gift for a loved one on any special occasion. The new owner could store their personal belongings and collectibles inside the trunk and later in life pass it down to the future generations. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining since it was worn out looking. We then have given the interior wood two coats of polyurethane. Here is a large Brass skeleton key. Probably a church key or possibly a trunk. Or large door key. This key is hand-made and dates from the late 1700s to mid 1800s, possibly older. The key measures approximately 3" long, the handle 1 1/2" and features a very intricate bit shape and a heart shaped cut out made out of solid brass. Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Antique Trunk w/ Dates , Label,Lock & Key
Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk with Working Lock and key. Here at Trunks-n-treasures we take pride in the trunks that we refinish. We have refinished hundreds of trunks. Each one with the craftsmanship that we have learned from growing up around our grandparents watching them run and refinish furniture in their antique shop. This particular trunk is a very nice, clean refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the metal we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil to it as a finish. After much research we have found that tung oil works best because it replenishes ... morethe wood and prevents it from drying out so quickly. On this trunk are two new Amish leather handles. The latches on this beautiful trunk also work to keep the lid secure. The latches have the patent date of July 9, 1872. The lid of this particular trunk also has the original manufacturer label in great condition. Also on the lid there is trunk stay to keep the lid open when wanted. The lock for this trunk comes with two working keys. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied tung oil to the bottom to give it a new refinished look along with painting the metal black. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed.
