It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. Vintage / Antique 1800's STEAMER CHEST TRUNK - Large - Needs restoration
This antique steamer trunk has no identifying information; however. We believe it is from the 1800's. The trunk measures approximately 38" long x 26" high x 22.5" wide when closed. It is a fabric-covered chest with wooden ribbing and what would appear to be additional leather stripping. It also has metal corners and hardware. Our trunk is in need of repair and restoration. The lock is missing and the hinges in the back of the trunk require attention. The top must be held open so it does not fall back. The inside of the trunk shows signs of age and wear. We are selling this large. Celan, American-made, art nouveau influenced, domed-top, ornate pressed tin clan trunk from 1880-1890. This piece of antiquity will stand out in any setting and this wedding or bride's style chest comes with the original pine hat compartment and the interior pictures are original in in good order. There is some wear and signs of age which has been left untouched so as to preserve the originality and antique character of the piece. The leather on one of the side handles is split but just adds to the character and the images of the trunk's use. This trunk measures roughly 32" x 22" x 19" and would be great at the foot of the bed or any character and function to any room. A very VERY nice antique trunk signed by one of Americas best trunk makers inside and out. Brass tag on lid reads Martin Maier& Co. Inside a Paper label shows his address 102 Woodward Ave. Detroit. Michigan. This trunk is in" as found" condition. It's really fantastic- super patina. I have not touched this except to remove dust and cobwebs: I prefer to keep them"dry" like this and avoid polishing the brass. But I know many collectors like to bring them back with wax and polish and looking almost new. Top has brass studs. Trunk has beautiful cast iron corner detailing. The wallpaper is loose in places, both on the outside, and on the inside, and also missing in a number of places. The interior tray is missing. I have done NO repair or restoration on this trunk. The wood also has a number of splits in it. Lock is original. No key included. Hinges are original, although at least some of the original screws seem to have been replaced with brass ones. Original scissors hinge is missing. The trunk also has a metal band, on the lid, which fits over the lower portion of the trunk, just like the full size ones. As expected for an all original Tourobe of its age there is also some scuffing on the exterior. Inside still looks great and has the original hangers. Three for suits and three for pants, internal straps are complete. The case has two sections, a hanging wardrobe on one side which has a velvet covered pad to protect the suits and fastens with two sets of stud buttons holding the clothes in place. For Auction: Antique 1930s Henry Likly Full Size Steamer Wardrobe Trunk. It is an unusual design. Half of the front door opens. And a leg pops open to hold it up. When you close it, the leg closes up. The leg appears that it needs a little maintenance as it needs a helping hand to close it up. It is difficult to close the trunk completely. It can be closed. But you have to fight it a little. There is no key. The lock does not lock. It appears that it may be missing the top to the drawer section. But I am not sure. The base is 22" by 23" by about 40" tall. Here is what an expert told me about the trunk: Manufacturer: Henry Likly. The Henry Likly Trunk Company was established in 1844 as A.R. T.H. Pritchard. Upon graduating from school Henry Likly took an apprenticeship with A.R& T.H.Pritchard and mastered his trade in the ... moretrunk manufacturing industry.In January of 1868 Mr. Likly was given a partnership in the company. The company then became A.R. T.H. Pritchard& Company. Three years later it became A.R. Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Interior Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Interior Compartment Areas and Interior Tray Here is a really nice refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the mid to late 1800's. This beautiful hump back chest is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. Here are the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 24 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in it's natural patina or color which is a medium reddish brown. This trunk has a nice unique pair of original front latches that are patent dated and do work. They are"Patented July 1, 73" referring to 1873. These latches have a tab at the bottom that you flip back and forth ... moreto engage or disengage the latch. The lock is original to this trunk. It is brass. So we have semi polished it. Unfortunately, we have not been able to match up a key for this lock. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps which are sturdy. Going to the interior of this trunk, it has two nice features which are under the dome. One is the compartment at the left. We have remade the drop door to this compartment and added a nice picture to this door. At the right under the top is the original small compartment which may have held people's smaller belongings. If you look at the close up pictures, you will see the lids being held open to give you an idea of how these work. The picture above the small compartment is original. It portrays a gap in a mountain. We are not sure where of where this area is that is portrayed in the picture or sketch. We have also made a tray that rests at the top where the original one once did. The interior wood and tray have received two coats of polyurethane. Nice Refinished Dome Arch Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/ Working Lock & Key
Nice Refinished Antique Arched Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a nice refinished primitive steamer trunk or travel trunk from the mid to late 1800's. It has the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 1 7 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 15 inches. This one has a very slight dome to the top. The trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are plenty of older stress marks on the wood. These older markings include nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. Some of the wood that makes up this trunk is rough cut and you can still see the saw blade marks on the wood. We have shown a picture of this on the top. The top center slat ... moreboard has been replaced with an old board off of a parts trunk. The two original slat boards on the top have grooves at the outer edge. The replacement one does not. There is a very small piece of the upper slat board missing at the front left side. It's not a big deal. We just thought we should mention it. If you look closely at the top view picture, you can see what we are talking about. This trunk has a working lock. The lower part of the lock is brass and original to this trunk. The upper part that goes into the lock is off of a parts trunk. We have matched up a key that does work with this lock so you can store your belongings away under lock and key if you want to. The metal parts that are not brass have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior. We have finished the interior wood with two coats of polyurethane. There are some typical stress cracks running across the bottom. Wow. Great old trunk! Late 1800s Seward Trunk& Bag Co. Ladies Saratoga Trunk" Otherwise known as a"Barrel Stave Top" or"Dome Top" This style of trunk is quite often mistakenly referred to as a steamer trunk; steamer trunks are a maximum of 14" tall and flat. A bit rough. Someone removed the lock portion of the main latch. It is an unusual double latch design. The compartment lid inside has broken and been repaired. Corner wear, some surface rust and oxidation. Leather handles broke off and were replaced with some very heavy duty brass handles a long time ago. The brass handles appear to be quite old. One of the cast strap clamps is broken yet all there. There is some damage to the tin clad skin. Original lining is cracked and torn in places. It appears to be all original with the exception of the handles ... moreand has not been painted(painting these trunks takes away from their value significantly) I'm sure I'm missing something so please look at the photos carefully and ask questions! Item is available for preview with appointment. I personally would leave it an unrestored original yet it could be restored bringing its value up. The inside of the lid has the 2 original color chromo-lithographs; one depicting a man pushing a wheelbarrow with a woman and 3 children inside and the other is a woman pushing her daughter on a swing with a smaller picture of what appears to be ice skaters. ANTIQUE LOUIS VUITTON ROUNDED TOP LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK CIRCA 1854 to 1867
This is a numbered leather rounded top steamer trunk circa 1854 to 1867. The company started in 1854 and in 1867 changed the look to canvas and the top to a flat surface for better stacking. This trunk has a little recent damage to one outside corner from my daughters cats scratching but I think that can be smoothed out with the right tool. The trunk is over 100 years old so the outside is worn but it is in good condition in spite of the scratches. The inside is in beautiful condition with a wonderfully intack. Clean tray and 3 compartments below the tray with the ties still there to hold your clothes down? The outside leather handles are still there and in good condition. I never allowed anyone to move the trunk by using these handles. I also have a key to the trunk. There are, it seems to me, old European hotel sticker marks on the outside. ... moreI actually have some of these old, beautifully colored stickers from the 1950's or earlier that I would sell separtley. This piece of luggage is a real collectable Louis Vuitton and in better condition than any I have seen sold at other sales. Charming Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a lovely refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 13 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This nice trunk consists of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with some typical older distress marks which include nicks and dings mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. And a couple of hairline stress cracks in the base wood. This one comes with the original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The front two latches are original and do work properly since the ... moresprings are intact. The metal parts which make up this trunk are not brass and have there been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing. Someone had drilled small holes in the wood and run rope through these holes to make handles for this trunk. They were rather lousy looking, so we have removed those handles and installed a pair of nice Amish made black leather stitched handles where these rope ones were. These handles are sturdy. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining which was worn out looking and finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. A nice trunk maker's style picture of a Victorian woman standing in a boat on a pond has been added to the underside of the top. The exterior bottom has normal wear and we have finished the bottom to make it overall cleaner. This trunk could be used as a low coffee table, tv/stereo stand, and/or a storage chest anywhere in your home where storage space is needed.
