It has ... morea very pretty pressed tin design mixed in with the wooden strips. It really makes a very pretty display piece and has kind of a modern industrial look about it due to the pressed tin. It would look great in a warehouse loft apartment. It is in display condition but has issues as a useable trunk. Both of the old leather side handles are missing. The large front center hinge lock works fine but I do not have a key for this trunk and don't know if the lock works. Both of the side front locks have issues but display well. There are no interior drawers. The interior shows it's age but would be great for storage. It measures as follows. It is 28 inches wide, 17 inches deep and 19 inches tall. The metal detailing throughout is stunning. The footing I’ve never seen. The latches say“patd 79” and the middle plate says. Patd May 54 and April 73. Hence, this is pre-1880. The inside is rough but it still has all the Victorian inserts! The inserts are in really tough shape, ripped, water damaged but it’s all there. The entire drawer/insert comes out. The drawers lock into place and are lined, wood on the outside. The top drawer has a key lock(not included) When you pull out the drawer, there is a leaver that you turn which unlocks the other drawers. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips it has taken over the years. The top(picture 6) shows the rip in the fabric. Has two tags on it. First is the Hartman Trunk co, Racine, WI. The other is on the corner and says Wasseman's, Grand Rapids, MI. That means this trunk went from the United States to Germany, then to Scotland and back to the United States. Measures 40" tall, 22" wide and 21 1/2" deep. Shipping is quoted with UPS. What's so cool about this ... morewardrobe trunk is that it has features that so many of the other wardrobes you see don't have or they're missing! Also. It was restored approximately 20 years ago and is still in good condition. You may want to repaint or reline the trunk to make it your own, but you don't have to worry about a bunch of repairs because they were already done. For example, the metal trim was not brass and so it was painted. It could easily be repainted to suit your needs. As for the unique, original features, the trunk includes: a wooden ironing board, metal bracket for iron, a pull out holder for the ironing board, 6 wooden hangers- one of which holds a cloth laundry bag, a removeable wooden box(holds shoes.lap desk? and 4 drawers- among other features. It's missing the outside lock and original leather handle(handle was replaced with a strong leather buckled handle) The key to the inside lock, the narrow flat bar that slides in front of the drawers, and some material behind the drawers. Some of the material is faded. The hinges and drawer pulls are secure and in functional condition except one outside latch(this doesn't prevent the trunk from closing tightly. The metal rods that hold the hangers extend out to hold the ironing board and are easy to slide in/out. All the drawers are lined with material and are in good/clean condition. The top drawer is divided into three compartments and is in good condition. The two middle drawers are in good condition too. The bottom drawer is deep and has a shallow pull out tray which exposes a cool feature. The feature is a sphere shaped cloth form that straps to the side of the drawer with leather. The original leather is still in place and functional. But somewhat brittle. My guess is that a hat could be pinned to the form to keep it safe for travel. The trunk has multiple brittle stickers(less as time goes on) from Germany

HUGE Antique Dome Top Camel Back Steamer Trunk --- 35.5” x 28” x 21”
This antique dome top trunk is in marvelous condition for its age. There is no major damage to this trunk. Just normal wear and tear that you would expect in an item this old… and which I will describe in detail later on…this beauty has tons of character! The beautifully curved dome top, with 5 strips of curved 2-inch wood…is a sight to behold. Just on the top of this trunk are 18 ornately etched plates of metal hardware. The lock hardware and lock are gorgeous, too. The trunk is made from tin, metal, and wood. There is a total of seventeen 2” wood strips of varying lengths found on all sides of the trunk. The wood strips look like oak to me…they’re in excellent condition. The trunk measures about 35.5” long across the bottom x 21” wide at the ends x 28” tall to the center of the dome, which is the highest point. There is some surface rust ... moreon the trunk. Mainly on the bottom…nothing has rusted through. In many of the photos where I used flash, it appears that there is rust on a lot of the surface area. This does not show up as prominently under normal lighting conditions. I believe that perhaps the trunk has been varnished and/or stained at one time… there is a beautiful glossy finish to the tin surface. Most of the ornate hardware is in excellent condition, also…a few pieces are bent or have minor damage. There’s lots of surface dents on the tin, as you would expect. The lock does not work. The hinged lock tabs do not close. The hinge inside of the trunk that holds the lid open is broken…it needs repair or replacement. The leather handles at each end of the trunk are new…I would not try to lift the trunk with these handles, however. Following is a brief description of each side of the trunk. With information that I have not already mentioned: Dome Top: Beautiful curved top with five 2-inch curved wood strips. Wonderful ornately etched metal hardware nailed at the ends of each wood strip. History before that time is unknown but it is thought that his Bohemian grandmother used it when she left Minnesota in the 1880s. Originally black. Refurbished to royal blue. New straps, reconditioned exterior wood, painted brass. The beautiful interior is new: lined with quilted blue fabric, white brocade trim, and cedar. Lock is not functional. The black trim is metal, and there is a leather strap on the top. The left side of the trunk has four drawers, the right side has a sliding bar to hang clothes,with 3 hangers. The sides of the drawers are wood, and maybe the front too, the back and bottom of the drawers are heavy cardboard. All of it is covered in a wallpaper type of paper. The trunk is in nice condition with a few flaws. With the trunk standing up, there is what is probably water damage on the bottom, it affects only the bottom on the inside and outside. You can see this in there pictures. The worst of it is under where the last drawer goes, so not a big deal there. The bottom where it must have gotten ... morewet, the paper has loosened and darkened, but it is all there. You can see this in he the pictures also. There is scattered spots and crutches on he the outside, but overall, a nice trunk with age appropriate wear. It measures 21" tall, 121/2" wide, and 9" deep. Vintage/ Antique Large Monogrammed Flat top Steamer Trunk- Unidetified Maker This is a larger steamer trunk that approximately measures 36.25" L x 21" W x 20.25" D The trunk was an auction find and I have no history on the trunk. The trunk is monogrammed with the initials"E.W.J. I was unable to locate a manufacturer name or logo. The trunk is in"usable" condition as it's not falling apart. But it has seen better days- PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PHOTOS! The trunk looks as though it originally had leather side handles. Unsure of the covering. But it may have been some sort of leather(hoping the experts will know from the photos) Some of the locks are either damaged. Or are missing parts. Missing one of the metal top corner protectors. This is a beautiful wood steamer trunk from the early 1900s. This trunk is black metal with very pretty red and silver accents. It has unusual wheels on the bottom. I have not seen these on a steamer trunk. It measures 17-1/2" tall, 26" wide and it is 14" deep. It is in excellent clean condition. On inspection the handle straps are missing on the sides and the locking center latch is also missing. It shows normal scuffing and bumps as you would expect but no abuse. The trunk had mothballs stored in it and there is a lingering scent. I have never dealt with moth balls and I did not try to deodorize it but I think it will dissipate over time. The two front latches work well and latch securely. Ladycomet Fancy Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest
Fancy Refinished Flat Top Trunk Here we are offering a refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one has the brown original laminate finish between the slat boards on all four sides. It was missing on the top. So we have created a resin and kind of made our own laminate for the top and gave it the same brown color. If you look at some of the pictures of the top, you will see that the areas that we redid do have some slight pits and waviness to those sections. It's not a big deal, we just thought we should mention it. The outer slat boards look like ash and the edge banding appears to be made up of some type of compressed composition which we have left in it's brown color. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 34 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge ... moreto back edge is 20 1/2 inches. There is a lot of fancy metal parts on this trunk. They are not brass, so we have painted them by hand in gold leaf. This one comes with the original lock, although we do not have a key to make it work. It appears to be all there and maybe you can hook up with your locksmith and obtain a key for this lock. The front latches are original and they do work well since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the inside, we removed the interior lining and finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. We did put a new board over the top on the underside of the lid to make it more sturdy. A nice trunk maker's style picture has been added to this new top. This trunk could hold quite a few blankets and clothing articles. It would look nice sitting at the foot of the bed. It could also be used as a coffee table or end table. Recently, we have sold a couple of trunks that have been given by the parents to their adult children as they are moving off to college. They can pack their belongings inside and when they reach their dorm or apartment, they can use the trunk as a

Antique Steamer Trunk Victorian Flat Top Travel Chest Circ. 1890
Antique victorian flat top 1880's steamer travel chest/trunk. It is all original. Inside and out. It has well defined clinched binding and oak slats. In between the oak slats it has the original brown canvas on wood. The original leather straps on each side are still present. The inside has the original lift out divided wood tray covered in paper. There is age wear to the paper. There are four wheels on the bottom edges. On the underside is stenciled lettering that says in part Manufactured expreslsy for R.H. Co. Antique Embossed Tin Ladies Dome Top Steamer Trunk French Country Romantic
A sweet Victorian style antique steamer trunk from approximately the late 1800's. It measures 28" long X 17" wide x 22' high(at the highest point in the center of the lid) It's covered with a dark red/ dark rust colored floral patterned embossed tin and the tin is in very nice condition. It has a dome top with hardwood slats that are held in place with brass tacks. It has the remnants of a chromolithograph on the inside of the lid featuring a child holding a kitten but it's in poor condition. The trunk used to be lined with paper but most of it has worn off over the years. The bottom of the trunk has 3 plain hardwood slats running across the bottom over black tin and there are 4 small wheels(one on each corner) that make it easy to move around on any flat hard surface. The trunk is nice in dry inside and there are ... moreno moth ball odors. Just a dry dusty odor that reminds me of the attic in my grandmother's home many many years ago. The black banding on the lid sides needs repair and the hasps on the front do not close tightly because the lid does not fit properly. The leather handles need to be replaced and the original wood tray is missing. The locking mechanism in the center is very plain and it appears to be damaged. Please view all of the photos, they are an important part of the description. This decorative old trunk could be a worthy restoration project which will allow you to add additional storage to you home. There are several sites on-line that offer free advise on how to restore antique trunks and the majority of them sell the parts you'll need. Leather handles, etc. can be purchased inexpensively at these same sites and I believe they are also available here on Ebay. The dimensional size of the trunk plus weight of 30# causes it to be considered oversized for shipping purposes which is always more costly. I AM ESTIMATING THIS TRUNK TO HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE LATE 1800'S. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE WAS IN THE EARLY 1900'S. NOTICEABLE ISSUES WOULD BE ONE OF THE 4 SMALL ROLLERS ON THE BOTTOM HAS BROKEN OFF. THE CHAIN TO SUPPORT THE LID IS MISSING. VIEWING THE 1ST PHOTO. THE LATCH ON THE LEFT SIDE FLIPS UP BUT DOESN'T CATCH THE MATING PART. THERE MAY BE LITTLE BUMPS, SCRATCHES OR A LOOSE SCREW BUT THIS ITEM IS IN VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION. THE METAL I BELIEVE IS TIN WHICH HAS BEEN BLACKENED. THE WOOD APPEARS TO BE STURDY AND ORIGINAL. THE COMPARTMENT FITS SNUG BUT LIFTS OUT USING 2 HOLES ON THE INSIDE AT THE TOP. Antique Travel Steamer Box Trunk The Great Houdini Cunard Mauretania Sticker
Up for your consideration is an antique steamer travel trunk/ canvas covered travel box with Houdini's name on it in two places. The only thing I can say for sure about this item is that if you are the winning bidder you will either be purchasing an awesome Houdini piece. Or a cool piece of Cunard memorabilia. I have tried to research this thing, and cannot attest to its authenticity. There is a name on the travel stickers of Mrs. E. S. Burton, and I can't tie her and Houdini together. The Cunard hold sticker has a date of August 18, 1923(or'13 see pics) with Burtons name on it, Mauretania(the sister ship of the Lusitania) the port was South Hampton, and the destination as NY. Therfore this travel box is of the right time period. I know that Houdini travelled on the Mauretania several times. Vintage/ Antique Large Monogrammed Wood Flat Top Steamer Trunk- Unknown Maker This is a larger steamer trunk that approximately measures 36.25" L x 21" W x 20.25" D The trunk was an auction find and I have no history on the trunk. The trunk is monogrammed with the initials"E.W.J. I was unable to locate a manufacturer name or logo. The trunk is in"usable" condition. But it has seen better days- PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PHOTOS! The trunk looks as though it originally had leather side handles. Unsure of the covering. But it appears to be leather(hoping the experts will know from the photos) Some of the locks are either damaged. Or are missing parts. Missing one of the metal top corner protectors. Vintage/antique steamer trunk, black/brass, flat top, monogram "WFK",
This trunk has a lot going for it. With its flat top. It makes a nice coffee table. Once it gets aired out, it would be extra storage space. It is quite attractive, in a"shabby chic" sort of way. It is quite old, although I don't know where it came from. My mother had it in her attic for as long as I can remember(which is a pretty long time) For the past 8 years, it has been in storage. WE just got it out, but since we have 2 others, we really don't need this one. It is black, with brass fittings/edges, so its quite attractive. Unfortunately we didn't have the key so had to"pick" the lock. It will shut properly, so you can carry it, but won't lock. The leather handles on each end are well worn, but we were able to use them-carefully! to move the thing. Inside, it has a decent lining, which you can see in ... morephoto 6. There are 2 trays, neither one of which is the original, as they don't fit on the edges properly. The first, shown in photos 7 and 8, has 2 compartments and fastens with a couple leather straps with snaps(one is broken) The edges of this drawer are rather crushed(see photos 11 and 12) There is another tray underneath, which has some sort of dried goop, that probably was gooey at one point, as it has been covered with tape. On the left side, it has the monogram"WFK" written in red(photo 4) It was made by the"William Bal Company" in Newark, N.J. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ITEM IS PICK-UP ONLY.
