This trunk shows normal wear from age as pictured but overall it is in good shape. A Ladycomet Refinished Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key
Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Hidden Interior Compartment Area Here is a beautiful refinished dome top trunk from the late 1800's that we have just finished up on. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 1/2 inches. We removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards, and the dome top looks like early birch ply. We have prepared and finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve it and make it nice. The wood is in decent condition considering the age of this trunk, and you can see some saw blade marks on the ... moreboards at the front of the trunk which are from the rough cut lumber which was used on this trunk back in the 1800's. This trunk maker put a nice amount of fancy hardware on this dome top. All of the metal parts which are on this trunk are not brass. We have brush painted the metal parts by hand in black and gold leaf. There are some patent dates on the fancy cap metal near the dome. It is hard to make out the exact date, although we have shown a close up picture of this patent date. We have given this trunk a lock off of a parts trunk since it was missing the lock when we purchased it. The lock we installed does work properly and comes with the appropriate key. The front latches are original on this trunk and do work ok since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, this trunk has a nice feature which is the hidden compartment are on the underside of the dome. We have recreated the door that drops down to show this area. We also added a nice picture of a Victorian girl posing with her pet cat onto this door. We did leave the original paper border around part of this area and adde

Old steamer trunk. Original hardware(except for maybe locking clasp-but even this looks old& original) Unit has been painted inside. Well worn and used on the outside, all corners and metal details intact. There are no bottom corners of metal, flat on bottom. Unsure on date and name of manufacturer. Unit measures: 36" wide, 18" deep, 19.5" high, not including the rope handles in measurements. Rope handles. Approx 40lbs, this is for local pickup or you need to send a call tag from UPS or Fedex Ground. I cannot wrap it perse, but I will try to protect it for you the best I can with a layer of cardboard if you want it shipped. I can deliver it(for a small fee) to Hamilton or Toronto in Ontario OR to Buffalo area in New York.

What a find! Old steamer trunk. Please examine the photos closely. The trunk is definitely showing its age. leather handles on the side are toast but they are still there. Lock bears the eagle lock co name. It is wood and tin. Lots of tin covers most of the chest and it is adorned with the pattern you see. It has lots of character! 34" x 17.25" x 18" There is rust. There is worn/missing tin etc. I did not attempt to clean etc and have not even carried it by it's handles, I hold the whole thing. The little wheels on the bottom are janky but they work and moved around easy surprisingly. Anyone who has more information on this trunk that I could add would be appreciated. Antique Steamer Canvas Covered Flat Top Chest/Trunk Circa 1880-1910 with Keyhole
This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. The inside has the pins left for holding the cloth that used to be inside. It would make a great antique collector's addition, or could even be made into a table! This may be the only one is existence. VERY RARE Quality constructed. Trunk interior is fitted with American golden oak and cast brass ornate pulls with drop front hat box ... morearea that can be used as a desk. Exterior is fitted with rose and silver colored cloverleaf hardware(corners are cast iron and the rest of the hardware is nickel plated brass? which I believe the cloverleaf hardware was characteristic of early Hartmann. Canvas appears to have been a deep mahogany that has darkened over the years from the smoke of coal fired trains and ocean liners. Nice shaped edging of wild boar hide(pig skin) and fine brass tacking. The skin from a boar was tougher and thicker than other animals. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. The latch is marked Everwear TTC3 and Corbin made in USA. Stately Travel Chest Wardrobe Trunk These early trunks are very rare and hard to find and are as good as. Beautiful Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Interior Tray Here is a really fancy beautiful refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely hump back chest is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are typical older distress marks on the wood which include older scratches and nicks in various places, although the chest is very sturdy and can be sat upon the top if you want to do so. This trunk maker put a lot of nice metal hardware on this trunk. The metal parts that make up this trunk ... moreare not brass, therefore we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. This trunk also comes with the original patent dated working lock. This is the first time out of well over a thousand trunks that we have had this style of lock. It is patent dated on the key hole cover which is the only brass part on this trunk that we have semi polished. It reads, Pat Mar 69& Apr 77" There is a close up picture showing these dates. We did match up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. You can lock your belongings inside this beautiful trunk away from others. The front latches are original cast iron nice ones that still work since the springs are still intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a tray or insert for this trunk. It rests at the top edge where the original one once did. The interior wood and tray have received two coats of polyurethane. We did leave the fancy paper border in place on the underside of the dome and we added two nice trunk maker's style pictures to the underside of the dome. Considering how old this trunk is, the interior is in pretty good condition.

A Ladycomet Primitive Early Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest
Charming Early Primitive Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk Here is a nice refinished flat top steamer trunk from the mid to late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 16 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 1/2 inches. This one is a more primitive style trunk in which there is more wood showing and less fancy metal hardware. This one still has the Jenny Lind influence in which there are the small brass rosettes or buttons on the thin metal banding at the sides. The trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards on the top. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older nicks and dings on the wood in various places. This trunk comes with the original lock which has been remounted ... morewith screws. The lock does not work since the top engagement piece or latch that swings down into the lock is missing. The lock is AS IS since this part is missing. The side handles have some wear, but were in good enough condition to keep. They are brown leather stitched straps. This trunk might serve nicely as a coffee table since it does have a flat top. These trunks can also be used to store collectibles like Civil War items or coins within. A real common way to use a trunk like this is to store clothing and other personal belongings within it, especially in a bedroom at the foot of the bed. Going to the interior, the wood is totally rough cut boards. There was glue residue on these boards which held the paper lining in place. The glue residue was light colored, so we had to stain the interior wood dark to try to cover up the lighter glue areas. The interior is dark colored with some glue areas showing and has rough cut boards. A nice picture of a girl holding her pet cat has been added to the underside of the top. Here is an antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. The sides are flat so this could be used as an interesting coffee table. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Antique Rare M M Secor Original Leather Steamer Trunk Chest
Antique Rare M M Secor Original Leather Trunk. This is a beautiful old rare original MM Secor of Racine. WI leather trunk for stagecoach, train, steamship traveling. It is leather over wood with four roller wheels. It is circa 1866-1900. The exterior leather has a beautiful soft patina with beautiful hand hammered copper rivets. This trunk has some scratches and stains and discoloration but overall it is just beautiful. MM Secor was established in 1861 and was the first trunk maker in the US. Please have a close look at all of the photos. Two of the of the leather handles are missing and I will leave it to the new owner to replace with the correct leather handles. Two of the four roller wheel brackets on the sides have screws in them instead of the original copper rivets, these can easily be changed back. Inside it is mostly complete with ... morethe exception of some missing straps and small hardware, another easy fix. The trunk has all original hardware in good condition but the key is missing. The bottom of the trunk has three labels, Texas Express Company, Dallas, TX, Texas Express Company, Austin, TX and Moore's Hack Baggage and 10 Cent Parcel Delivery, San Diego, CA. This travel trunk measures 29 1/2" long x 17" wide x 19" tall and weighs 54 pounds. There is a patent date on some of the hardware, Jan 16'66. This trunk is solid and straight. Antique steamer trunk Hump back Dome lid child size chest Tin wood or cardboard
This is bigger than a doll trunk I think. But smaller than an adult size, so I think it was probably for a child to use while traveling or for storage. 20" wide, 12 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" deep. I think it has a this layer of tin with a faux wood grain patter on it and that is either over cardboard or wood. The chest is not super heavy, about 9 1/2 pounds, so it is probably a combination of both materials. Please use the pictures to determine condition. You can tell this was used and it is showing its age. One side has the remnants of what looks like was a leather handle, but the other side does not even have the metal parts of that handle. There are some rivets missing, one of the latches on the front side is missing parts and none of the three seems functional. One of the hinges on the back side is painted green. The tin covering ... moreis scuffed and dented. Still, overall condition for its age, is not really that bad. The lid opens and closes easily and the whole trunk is still solid, not wobbly. I don't have a tray or a key for this one.

Antique Old Chest Dome Trunk (Steamer) w/ Shelf / Embossed Tin (Grecian Design)
Beautiful antique chest/ trunk dating to around 1890. It is slightly domed and ornately decorated with a beautiful Grecian pattern embossed tin. It still has original shelf. Two latches work and hinges are secure and operatable, nice size to compliment a room and to store those living room blankets. It does have its flaws as one would expect. Two castors are missing. Leather handles of course gone and although it still has most functionality, it is old, the wood has aged(crack in top, but still solid as supported by metal, tin and wood support"things" but should be primarily a decorative piece with moderate storage use. It still has good integrity, just would not want the kids making a fort out of it.Also, the metal is dinged in two places on top and the tin is missing a small(quarter size) spot on top at far rear and is damaged ... morein back(please see pictures) Otherwise the metal is good antique trunk condition, as it is in original condition. It could be refurbished, but considering current appeal, factoring cost it just doesn't make sense. It's 130 years old, we want it to say I'm old, but still good looking. Measures: 32" length 17" deep 19" height I will deliver at no cost within 30 miles of Oklahoma City. Otherwise. I will ship within 3 days of receiving payment. Up for auction is this well made i believe to be 19th century ANTIQUE STEAMER TRUNK great looking VINTAGE WOOD(i believe oak) with what looks like BRASS(looks like glazed or refinished) corners and straps for support. Has lock but no key. Leather side handles, has small wheels for rolling(one missing wheel) the inside has a removable wood divided tray. The previous owner lined with yellow shelf paper so i have not checked for manufacture markings. Selling this great looking trunk as is as shown. Free shipping in continental US.
