Hinged to reveal a fitted dimension as shown above. We searched extensively on the internet to find information about this piece of history and all we could find is as explained below: Hirschfelder& Meaney was established in 1893. With offices and salesrooms at No. 22 Sutter Street. Its factory was located at Twentieth and Florida streets in San Francisco and covers an area of eleven thousand square feet. The San Francisco Call Newspaper of November 16th 1911 listed their address to be on 519 Market Street and another internet search revealed they moved to Battery Street around 1913. Hirschfelder& Meaney was also listed in the 1926 San Francisco chamber of commerce publication as a chest maker with address at 36 battery street San Francisco. Earlier edition of same publication published in 1910 listed same company’s address to be 519 Market Street There are documentations published between 1910 and 1926 that made reference to this company. I have not seen any reference to the company after 1926. This however does not mean one is not out there and for this reason we listed this chest as mid to early 1920. Please do your research to get more information about this vintage chest. We have supplied all the information we had as of the time of listing. THIS BELONGED TO MY FRIEND'S FATHER. HIS GRANDMOTHER GAVE EACH OF HER 3 BOYS ONE OF THESE WHEN THEY WERE TODDLERS. MY FRIEND'S FATHER WAS BORN IN 1916 SO WE ARE ASSUMING IT IS ABOUT90 YEARS OLD. OVER THE YEARS. HIS GRANDMOTHER FILLED THE TRUNKS FOR EACH OF HER CHILDREN MANY OF THOSE ITEMS I WILL BE LISTING. THE PHOTOS SHOW THE FINISH TO BE MORE OF A GLOSS FINISH THAN IT IS. Very Nice Fancy Refinished Belber Brand Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Manufacturer's Brass Tag, and Brass Working Lock With Key Here is a refinished signed Belber trunk from around the early 1900's. This one sure is fancy with lots of metal hardware all over it. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 35 inches. From floor to top is 14 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This trunk is made up of the original laminate from the factory. It is some type of pressed composition over some type of wood. We have given the laminated areas a nice dark reddish mahogany color and then polyurethane over the mahogany stain. The edge banding with all the nails in it appears to be also a type of composition and it is a brownish color which we have freshened up. ... moreThis beautiful flat top has the brass manufacturer's tag. It says, Belber Make" Philadephia, New York, Chicago" They must have had a few factories producing their trunks. This Belber trunk comes with the original brass working lock. We have semi polished the brass lock and matched up a key that does work properly in this lock. The remaining metal parts on this trunk are not brass and have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The front latches are also original and in good working condition since the springs are still intact. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with black leather straps. This lovely trunk originally had leather straps. They were missing, so we have run a pair of nice Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front, across the top, and down the back in the same location where the original ones were. These leather straps with roller buckles are functional and in addition to the lock and latches, they help secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled. Ladycomet Refinished Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest, Straps&Tray
Charming Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles and Interior Tray We are selling a nice refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's. This trunk is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is approximately 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. This one has some typical older nicks and dings in various places. These character marks are present on just about all of the trunks that we refinish. There were some small holes in the wood where either knots were missing or something, and we did fill these holes in. There were several on the front and several on the back, ... morenot on the top or on the sides. These boards were free of any holes. This particular trunk doesn't have hardly any stress cracks in the wood. Usually these trunks do, but this one is good. There is no lock mechanism, although there is a brass square lock plate at the front. The top part of the lock that swings down into the lock plate appears to be original, but there is no engagement mechanism behind this brass lock plate which someone may have put on this trunk some time ago. The lock plate is the only brass on this trunk. We have brush painted the remaining metal by hand in black and gold leaf. The front two latches are cast iron and they do work ok since the springs are still there. A nice pair of leather straps with roller buckles has been installed onto this trunk. In addition to the front latches, they help secure the top to it's base when buckled. They are functional, not just for show. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps which are sturdy. Antique. Steamer Trunk. We found it in the work shop at an estate sale. It was being used for storage of old boy scout memorabilia and old kitchen curtains. There are several pieces of stickers on the trunk and one from the Black Ball Freight Service with the phone number"BREMERTON 300" dates the sticker to the days before we dialed phone numbers directly. I would guess the trunk dates to around the turn of the century. It's made out of wood with metal brackets and rivets. Black laminate on the outside. Blue and white paper covering the inside. Measures 30 1/2" long by 18 wide by 19 1/4" tall on the outside. Inside dimensions are 29 1/2" long by 16 1/2" wide by 14 1/2" tall. The lid is 3 3/4" tall on the inside. It weighs 26 pounds. Antique Vintage Wooded Trunk Chest Steamer Humpback Rustic Cabin Decor
Up for auction is this beautiful wooden trunk. This is smaller in size than the much larger once that are usually listed. It overall dims are 26" long by 14" deep(front to back) by 13" tall. It comes with the key but the lock is missing. The face plate is there so it isn't affected cosmetically but the lock assembly is gone. Very rustic looking chest. The wood is very light weight like Cedar but the knots give it the look of Pine. The crack across the front gives it a great look. The channels and groves in the wood are from bugs and worms and give it one of a kind characteristics. Awesome in my eyes. This definitely has that Pirate Treasure Chest look going for it(except for the red lining inside of course) Very sound and sturdy yet looks to be made long ago. Pictures tell the story. Antique Victorian 1800's Chest Dome Top Steamer Trunk Wood/Tin
This beautiful medium sized Dome Top antique trunk. Is in Good condition, with only minor flaws. It measures 18"H x 26 1/2" L x 14" W. The exterior is stunning. Covered beautifully in a black colored tin. With oak slats, accented with black tin hardware, and a nice brass design, that is very desirable amongst collectors. Both side leather straps are in original condition. All of the hardware is original and no longer fasten. There is no key. The inside is beautiful original wood. With steel nail heads showing(see photo) The tray is in nice condition although the lids need to be reattached. See pictures. There are rollers under this beauty, that work well, and look great. Found this unusual. Beautiful and untouched Leather, Iron and Wooden Victorian Era Dome Style Steamer Trunk at a local sale. A huge trunk measuring 36" wide. 30" tall and 23" deep. Decorated with hand applied tacked leather all around, ornate iron and wood, this trunk was made for folks who traveled far and for many weeks or months at a time. A TRIPLE LOCK system is evident on the front, designed to keep their worldly possessions safe. On each side of the trunk there are remnants of labels that provide a visual history of the famous places that this trunk traveled to. There is a label for a hotel in Paris. A label for a baggage cabin on a Cunard Line steam ship, and most interesting.a label for the St. James Hotel in Jacksonville Florida. The hotel was a popular destination for the wealthy in the 1870's and 1880's and ... moreburned in the Great Fire of 1901.never to be rebuilt. The interior of the trunk is in nice untouched shape for it's age. Inside the lid is a drop down drawer with its original leather and tin clasp for holding it in position. When opened. Very cool aluminum locker! I think it's 1940's. Lots of rivets. Heavy latches. Great industrial age look! It measures 30" x 17" and 13 1/2" tall. No inside tray. Working& functional condition is very good. I opens and closes nice and tight. The latches catch and hold. The back hinges are heavy duty and move without issue. It's been well used. I assume well traveled. And it's got plenty of scratches. Dents, and imperfections in the aluminum. It still looks great! The leather handles are in great condition. Use it as a coffee table and at the same time you can store your gas masks. Survival kits, antique medical tools, or secret cabbage patch doll collection inside. Which is covered in Waxed Canvas, with a Lovely Runners, which are covered in Brass Stud work. This Dome Topped Trunk has good metal edges. With polished Steel Pins. The Trunk is Covered in Metal Fittings. Which I have spent time cleaning, to show this Lovely Trunk off to it's Best! This is a Good Steamer trunk. And would make for a perfect Chest for Storage, a Coffee Table. Completely Free Standing. The trunk can be viewed all round. With the original Owners Monogram to the Sides. Antique Domed Small Trunk All Original 1800's 18x11x11 Steamer Chest - COOL!
This is an 1800's small sized domed trunk. All of the compartments are present and still look great. Exterior shows typical wear. There is a pencil written price of $1.50 on the bottom. The pics make this look like a typical big cumbersome trunk but it's actually much smaller with exterior measurements of 18x11x11 inches. Definitely more practical and would serve any room of the house well. I've seen thousands of big trunks but never one this size.

This is a dome top(some call it a hump top) trunk which to me is great just the way it is(lots of character) or refinished would be a marvelous piece. It's big. A SUPERB ANTIQUE OCEAN LINER PADDLE STEAMER 3RD CLASS GIRLS PLAYROOM PINE CHEST
ITEM DESCRIPTION This auction is for a really very nice antique lidded pine storage box or small chest. Dating to the second half of the 19thC. Marked to the front'Girls 3rd Class' I am hoping I have go this right and that it is a girls playroom box from the 3rd Class area of a paddle steamer or ocean liner. I can't think what else would have a'3rd Class' if it were say from a school I think it would of said'Class 3' and also I don't think class numbers were being used in the 19thC. I am of course open to other suggestions. It measures 18.5 inches/47cm wide at the lid and 17 inches/43cm tall. You don't get an impression of it from the pics but its made from beautifully shiny and patinated solid pine that just glows with age and character. There is a sliding brass escutcheon cover but I believe it to be ... morea later addition. The original lock is absent(see interior pic) Its been well used and that shows with many marks and features in the timber. Some old scattered worm holes to the underside and here and there to the top, looks like there is some very old glue to a split to the top of one of the legs but it doesn't negatively impact it in anyway or stand out etc. Such an interesting and characterful object. Vintage Antique Flat Top Steamer Chest Trunk Metal and Wood. I don't know the details on this trunk. Similar ones seem to be from the late 1800's but this is unique in the fact that it is covered in metal with wood trim. It has a flat top. Removable tray and wheels that I placed coasters over. They are easily removed. It smells like a cedar lined trunk. I do not have the key for the center lock but have seen them offered on eBay. Local pick up free of charge. 34.25"x19"x22" Dimentions.

Antique Wood Steamer Trunk/Chest w/Tray- Restored
Beautiful old travel chest- completely refinished with top coat of poly for easy cleaning. Very close to flat- you can set cups or whatever on top but if you want to put a glass top on it won't work- slight 1/8" difference between center and edges. Measures 24" tall; 34" long and 21" wide- good size for coffee table or blanket chest. Has original wood tray that was cleaned and left bare. New. Washable wallpaper lining.
