The wood is either mahogany or walnut. Chest has very nice carved feet front and back with bowed top as well as bowed front. It measures approx 22" tall including swivel mirror. 12 1/4" wide at feet, and 9" deep at feet and has 2 small drawers at top and l larger drawer at bottom. Mirror is in fine condition. The small drawers each measure approx 5 3/8" x 4" x 2 1/2" deep. The one on the right has a smaller pull than the others but it appears to have been put on at the same time. Here's a Very Old. Antique Miniature Arch Top Trunk for Dolls. Please, see all the pics as they are an important part of the description. This is from the 1800s and from what I can gather, through a little research, it's probably from the 1850s to 1870s but, I'm not positive.you girls who collect these things will know by looking at it, immediately. It Measures 14" Long X 8 1/8" Front to Back X 9" Tall. Both the Trunk and the Tray are structurally sound with no loose joints or corner wiggling or racking.it's firm all around. The Latch is Original, I believe but the rear hinges look to be of a later date. The Original painted cotton cloth covering(over the wood) which is what they used back then(much the same as many full-sized trunks from back then) is torn and/or missing in several areas. I suppose this can ... morebe restored if so desired. There are two knot holes in one end of the trunk. These were not drilled by anybody.they are actual natural holes where the knots fell out a long time ago. The Original Interior Paper covering is well worn. There is no key and was lost probably a very long time ago. One of the Leather Handles is torn off but I have left it in the tray for you. I'm a guy and don't know much about these things but I can actually say that it's pretty neat! Because of the condition issues, which I have described(along with the pics) this is being sold AS IS. This nicely made 1860s-80s ash wood chest of drawers measures 12 ¼” tall x 13 1/8” x 7 ¼” deep and appears to have original. Untouched varnished surface overall. The top and each drawer are framed by red striping with sprays of flowers hand painted in the middle. Each drawer has sweet turned walnut knobs and all appear to be original. The sides have extra nice cuts and the back is of thin sawn pine. Construction overall is butt wire nail with glue and there are scattered old nail and glue repairs. Antique painted miniature chest/trunk/possibly sailor-made/mid 1800s
I am very used to seeing chests of this design in a large format. This is a little one. It's an antique sea-chest style chest in green paint and decorated with motifs very typical of sailor-made chests. It may very well have been made by a sailor for his wife or daughter. I would say it dates to the mid-1800s. The top carries 4 hearts in the corners and a five-pointed star in the center. There are two stars on the front section- one in each top corner. I would say the green paint is original to the piece. Size is great. Allowing the buyer to put it almost anywhere. The top is 17&1/4" across and 11&1/2" deep. It is 8" high. Condition is as shown. Please look at all photos to form your own opinion of quality and condition. The decorative elements are applied(possibly paper) and there is some loss. The star on the ... moretop looks to be painted. The stars on the front look to be applied. There is a very old crack on the back which shows wood loss connected to it on the inside. I purchased this chest from a dealer friend- as it was missing the red trim around the top, he very recently replaced it with new wood and did his best to match the original red to the trim on the lower portion. I think he was successful because the chest shows very well. Overall, based on the design and diminutive size, this is a special little chest that would fit into any folk art or marine collection. EARLY ANTIQUE FOLK ART PRIMITIVE HAND PAINTED DAPPLE BLANKET DOLL CHEST TRUNK* Up for auction is this unique little hand painted dapple miniature blanket chest. It is a sweet little trunk with splashes of small dots of paint on most of the outside. The lock on the front is long gone but it retains it's original hinges in the back. There is a split in the wood on the top of the lid that does go through to the other side of the lid- the chest is still sturdy! The lid of this trunk is slightly domed shaped but not so big you couldn't set something on top of it. There is a split in the wood on the bottom of this trunk that is slightly loose. There is a small chip missing out of the wood on the bottom right front of this trunk as shown in the pictures. This trunk is clean inside and no funny odors. There is edge wear. Splits, lock missing, ... morepaint loss, paint faded and more but none of this takes away from the beauty and sweetness of this little miniature blanket chest. Maybe poplar, the grain is very symetrical and tight. Original construction with hand cut nails. There are stencils for the locks and geometric pattern on top surface. Great patina and design. Very nice original Walnut Miniature Blanket Chest. No lock and No till cover. It doesn't look like there ever was a till cover.No screw holes on the lid where the lock catch would have been mounted so not sure that was ever there either. Measures 14" long x 6" tall x 6" deep. End are dovetailed as shown in the pictures and one end has some wear and something white in the wood grain.Nothing offensive. Both easily repairable nor does it take away from this piece.

You are looking at a Antique Miniature Japanese Marquetry Jewelry Chest from the Odawara Region which a Japanese antique dealer tells me is from the late 19th c. From the region of Odawara, and i am told that it is made of several woods including persimmon and peach. It is 9" tall, 9.5" wide and 4.5" deep. As shown in the photos it has six interior drawers behind the panel doors and one larger drawer at the bottom. Overall the marquetry and metal trim work is in very good original condition. This handsome miniature chest of drawers is not old. But was hand-made to look like an antique in the Federal style. The dresser has been given a cherry stain, and the woodworker has cleverly used modern materials(e.g. the end grain of cabinet maker-quality Baltic birch plywood) to simulate strips of walnut inlay. The dresser has three drawers of equal size, with the top one crafted to look like two smaller drawers. The knobs are brass, and the bottoms of the drawers and back of the chest are made of beaver-board. The piece is 16" high, 14" wide, and 9.25" deep. It is well-made and structurally sound, with minor damage to the finish: note the corners on the right side of the top, and scrapings of white paint at the bottom of the dresser.
