C.1890- Superb This is an absolutely stunning piece of antique Meiji period Japanese furniture. Dating to around 1890; it is a Tansu cabinet, a popular piece of decoration in Japanese and Chinese homes. This example is a very decent size, at 15” wide, 13” high, and 8” deep. The front panels of this example use an exotically striped tiger wood. With painted and lacquered panel doors above; these open to reveal not just 6 drawers to the inside, but shibayama panelling on the inside of the doors as well– an unusual decorative touch. The metal-work is in copper. And all original, and there is further painted decoration to the top and sides. C ondition Very good. And it has recently been cleaned and re-lacquered; there is a small ... moreamount of age-related wear, and one piece of metal is missing on the top left back corner. This is a wonderful mahogany cedar-lined blanket chest that is in the shape of a Philadelphia lowboy. Made by the Lane Furniture Company ... moreof Alta Vista, Virginia, back in the 1940s. It’s all embossed inside with the Lane logo and all the many patents applied for, and it says the interior has been pressure tested for aroma, and also has a tightener to adjust the vapor smell. The lock has been disabled for safety purposes, but I understand that you can obtain a new one by calling Lane and giving them the serial number of this piece. The overall condition is nice, and it has been re-sprayed on top to remove the nicks and dings. It’s finished in a dark reddish-brown mahogany stain finish, and has ball and claw Chippendale carved feet all around the simulated four-drawer raised panel front with a center clamshell carving. On the inside of the chest, when you open it, you can see where the cedar has split a bit, which is no big deal. When the wide beveled edge top is down, the chest measures 45 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 33 inches high. wonderful antique empire period mahogany liquor cabinet claw feet ice chest etc.
for auction is a great antique empire liquor cabinet with very nice claw feet. it is mahogany with wonderful grain. it appears to be in original finish and the piece is in near mint condition. no real issues or damage or wear to report. the copper mixing table has a few stains which are to be expected from age and use. it stands 54 inches tall. It is 16.5 inches deep at the feet which is the deepest point, the lower cabinet is 14 inches deep and the upper cabinet which is a step back is 10 inches deep. the piece is 23.5 inches wide. the upper portions has the original lock, pull and key and the inside has a copper mixing table which pulls out. it also has a small upper shelve for shot glasses i suppose. the lower portion has a recipe drawer, an ice chest, and compartment with a lazy susan which holds glasses or that is what is in it now, ... moreand a lower compartment with a bottle holding shelf with cut outs to keep the bottles from moving around etc. i think this shelve has been replaced as the cut outs are not as perfect as i would expect them to be. it could be original and someone enlarged the holes at a later date. it sits on 4 casters and rolls like a wagon. the bottom doors are curved and have the original hardware, lock, pull, and key. the same key works both the top and bottom cabinets. someone has written me on another listing i have and told me that my pictures are abysmal which i think means that they are really sucky. i returned his email and agreed with him 100 percent. my pictures are always bad, but it is usually really late at night before i ever get the time to list anything. i doubt that there is a nicer antique liquor cabinet listed on ebay, i haven't looked lately. i am sure some of them are much less than this one, but i expect that they are worth much less. this is a far above average liquor cabinet presented in very nice condition. i sold an arts and craft one a few months ago for 2500.00, i like this one much better. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good

Vintage / Antique 1800's STEAMER CHEST TRUNK - Large - Needs restoration
This antique steamer trunk has no identifying information; however. We believe it is from the 1800's. The trunk measures approximately 38" long x 26" high x 22.5" wide when closed. It is a fabric-covered chest with wooden ribbing and what would appear to be additional leather stripping. It also has metal corners and hardware. Our trunk is in need of repair and restoration. The lock is missing and the hinges in the back of the trunk require attention. The top must be held open so it does not fall back. The inside of the trunk shows signs of age and wear. This is an absolutely amazing piece of biedermeier furniture in satinwood. There are a few secret compartments to the top. This may have been restored at some time as it is in perfect condition. The drawer linings are solid wood with dovetail joints. The handles and the key holes are ivory, the drop down writing flap is ebony. l would say it was made in circa 1860. Antique wrought iron blanket chest hinges
Antique wrought iron strap/butterfly blanket chest hinges. The hinges are most likely 18th century. Thje strap element is 12-14" long and has a nice spear point. The butterfly element is about 4" long. There is about 1" between the pin and the inside of the butterfly element. That portion would fit on the top of the backboard of the blanket chest. A few years ago these hinges would have been priced above $150 Ask questions of interested. Short period rose head nails are available for $3 each. I also have a few blanket chest locks. Antique Federal style mirrored dresser or chest of drawers dating from the early 1900's. Stunning flame mahogany veneers grace the surfaces of this piece and are decorated with intricate contrasting inlay. An inlay medallion of a lamp has been placed atop the swivelling mirror. This piece has six drawers ina 3 over 3 configuration. Providing ample storage space. All the drawers are made with high quality dovetail construction. The entire piece is raised off of the ground by short tapered square legs sitting on brass and wood casters. Overall. This piece is in good condition. There is some noticeable silver loss to the mirror(see pictures) but no cracks or other damage. The wood has some noticeable wear associated with age, including chips and breakage to the veneers or inlay, including the lamp maedallion at the top of the mirror. See ... morepictures. There is also a chip out of the left side finial and the right side finial is missing altogether. The knob that goes over the swivel action of the mirror on the right side has come off, but we do have it. The wheels of the casters do no turn easily and probably need to be oiled. Here's a very nice old or antique small oak chest or large oak box we received recently with some estate items. This one is probably a little on the large size to be called a jewelry box. It may have been used as a sewing chest. Or for knickknack, ladies vanity items, etc. It was made in the late 1890's to early 1900's and there is a patent date of December 25, 1994 on the hinges,yes, it appears the patent date occurred on Christmas day at the time) The box is in very nice condition with slight signs of age and use. It has a till or smaller interior covered area made of pine and the bottom is also made of pine. The box is about 14 inches long, 7.75 inches deep and 7.75 inches tall. It is footed and there is nice edge trim around the lid as shown. Lots of different decorative and use possibilities. We don't see many of these ... moresmaller size oak chests. That's about it. Up for consideration is a nice size Stagecoach antique trunk that has been restored. It has been cleaned well inside and out. The wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish. It os all original exccept for the handles were replaced with new leather ones. The inside was recovered so no musty smells. It does have some minor dings and stress cracks. But this only adds to the characture of this 150 year old trunk. It would be Great for a blanket chest. The measurements are; 30" long x 17" wide x 18" tall. American Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. C. 1779 Item# 130002EEP16 This is a well worn and nearly untouched American Pennsylvania Chippendale Blanket Chest over Two Drawers. The interior of the lid covered in a fine woven green textile embroidered lower right"A.M.M. 1779" Likewise, the bottom of the inside of the chest bears the very faint initials and date"A M M 1779" these difficult to capture accurately with the camera and hard to see also with the eye. The underside of the lid of the till is inscribed in pencil"Hannah Britton" in a script that would suggest a somewhat early inscription by someone who owned the chest at one point. Crafted entirely of tulip poplar. Each surface of the case is crafted of a single solid unjoined board painted with a heavily oxidized brown streaked ... morepaint. The dovetails that join the case stretch from the top to the bottom of each toe, the feet becoming an integral part of the form, these well preserved and fully original. The molding around the lid, the midsection and the base are applied in the same manner, each with tiny wooden pins hammered through at regular intervals. The pair of drawers both bear pairs of replaced hardware, these inserted into the same original holes, both locks appearing to be fully original. The drawer frame is dovetailed front and back, the bottom heavily chamfered into rabbets on either side and nailed at the back in the typical manner. The interior of the chest has a later stain. While the 18th Century blanket chest is a very prevalent form. These are regularly refinished and rarely retain the original oxidized surface- even fewer also retain numerous matched inscriptions, dated and with some prior ownership inscribed on the interior. Well preserved in every way, this piece is untouched for the most part, of a desirable medium size and sturdy and strong in every way. Description: This listing is for a Federal Period Red Painted Maple Chest of Drawers. Probably Connecticut c. 1780-1800. It is a gorgeous work of art with a rather early and wonderful crusty red and black painted surface over the primary woods. The top projects over the case, finishing in soft molded edges over four graduated drawers. Each drawer features fully original hand cast batwing hardware and faux-keyhole escutcheons with numerous layers of original and later paints- one picture below shows a faux-keyhole escutcheon removed from the case, depicting the gritty surface behind it as well as detailed closeups of the back of the hardware. Each drawer is hand dovetailed with broad and rough dovetails, using what appear to ... morebe Eastern Pine for the drawer frame and bottom. The bottom is deeply chamfered to rabbet into the frame, and each drawer bottom is nailed at the back, though many nails are later with only a few originals. Each drawer is divided by cross bars that through-dovetail into and through the side of the case and backed by pine drawer runners nailed inside the case with rose head iron nails(one drawer runner top right replaced) The bottom of the case is uniquely designed, sliding into rabbets in the sides of the case along the entire bottom, locking at the front with an exposed through-dovetail. The top, likewise built to last, is joined at the top with a sliding dovetail joint that allows the top to expand and shrink easily without causing cracking or pressure. The back of the case features two board construction, one board being incredibly wide at 20" the second board being 13" wide with a soft ovular flow between the back feet. Original iron rose heads line the perimeter of the case back, locking the very thick secondary wood to the case permanently with only one replaced nail. Feet mostly original w/ repairs and restorations, c. 1770-90 Item# 120010OEY02 This is a beautiful bachelor's chest with fine proportions. Crafted of solid cherry wood throughout all primary surfaces. The case is crafted entirely using dovetail joinery, noting the sides which lock to the top with a half-blind dovetail, covered with a fine molded rim; the bottom mirrors the top construction, and the drawer divider bars dovetail into the face of the chest. These are of only partial depth, not full dustboards, typical of New England designs as it lessened the overall weight of the chest. The facade is four graduated drawers with bold batwing brasses, each replaced using nearly the same holes, ... morethe brasses of the same age as the chest. The drawer construction shows exquisite attention to detail, note the channeling along the top of the drawer framing, a design characteristic of Massachusetts(though also seen throughout other New England states) The sides of the chests wear fine brass carrying handles, each of magnificent proportions with original hand forged screws locking them to the chest. They are likely added to the chest, though since the chest would not have had brasses on the sides of the chest to start with this is difficult to prove. I restored this piece from top to bottom. This is some of the most beautiful burled walnut I have ever laid eyes upon.This is a world class antique and a gorgeous work of art. You will never tire of looking at this beautiful chest, it is so rich and beautiful. The highly burled walnut veneer over solid walnut drawer fronts is exquisite. The chest is solid walnut. Other than the drawer sides,drawer bottoms and drawer backs which are solid chestnut. The left side panel is the most gorgeous walnut side panel I have ever seen, no question about it. The burling looks like a storm cloud/ball of fire.The cabinet maker was not just a craftsman of the highest order, he was ... morean artist as well. The side panels are 5/8 inch thick, cut as one plank of solid walnut.The top is solid walnut with a beautiful shaped edge. The drawer bottoms. Sides and backs are all made from solid chestnut(possibly oak)Old growth chestnut is highly sought after by wood lovers, it is virtually extinct, now being reclaimed at very high prices,these chestnut drawers that I hand rubbed a finish on, they are gorgeous. The chestnut drawers bottoms are chamfered by hand planing into the drawer sides. Probably c. 1740-60 Item# 130002KJJ18 This is an absolutely wonderful find for serious collectors of Period Georgian English furniture- an original George II Period Lowboy Dressing Table crafted during the middle of the 18th Century. Almost certainly between the years of 1740-60. A pure piece with no adjustments or alterations, this is a very fine selection for purists and those with a preference for utmost quality in their collection. The projecting top was reset during the 20th Century, probably the same time it was refinished in a brilliant french polish, the molded edge scalloped on both front corners to give great shape to a simply gorgeous single solid plank of golden mahogany. The front and sides of the case are joined into the legs with a glued tenon joint. ... moreAll three being single solid boards with gorgeous grain selections. The front apron is scroll cut with magnificent and highly robust form, giving emphasis to the bold projection of the cabriole knee, the resulting empty space purely architectural in form. Three small drawers slide smoothly in and out of the case above this apron, each dovetailed at the front beneath cockbead molding, the backs and bottoms of the drawers nailed with small rows of iron nails. The brasses on each drawer are replaced, though correct for the period. Stretching from the top to the top. The legs are crafted of a highly complex single plank of wood, transitioning from the square corners into the bold cabriole leg before terminating in pointy slipper feet. The back legs are octagonally chamfered. Lending a squareness and masculinity to the overall form of the table. The back of the case is a single solid plank of oak, the interior secondary structure mostly pine with some oak- it is complex interior structure, a series of pine battens nailed perpendicular to the case on both sides and doubly in the center, one with an original rosehead nail visible. This is the last of my three locking chests that i found in an old box of my fathers. I do not want to damage the bank to see what kind of coins are in this one and i do not have a key to find out. There is a two or three spring mechanism under where you add the coins to the bank so i cannot see what kind of coins are in this bank,but it does feel very full. I would say that since my father mostly collected mercury dimes,barber dimes,buffalo nickels and liberty"V" nickels that is probrably what is in this bank. All of the other banks that i have the keys for, that is what i have found in them. He also did not mix coins in the various ... morebanks that he collected and he did not collect pennies. So i would venture to say that this bank will be completely filled with either mercury dimes,barber dimes,buffalo nickels or liberty nickels. This is a wood box with wrought iron hinges and clasps from Korea. The front. Back and the ends are not nailed but are rather dovetail construction. Hinges allow the top to open up. There are short"legs" underneath. Although I am not an expert and cannot guarantee age or anything beyond my description, I know the box came from Asia in the 1980s and was represented to be a genuine antique. My best guess personally is that it is 19th century, but it could be somewhat earlier; this is based on the condition of the wood inside the box, the dovetail workmanship, the ironwork and their fasteners, and the overall condition of the finish, which seems to be a kind of varnish. The lock shown in my picture is obviously modern- the buyer can have it although many would probably discard it since it is obviously not what would have been used ... moreon the box originally. Size is approximately 10" x 18" standing just over 10" high. Condition is excellent- there is a little wear on it consistent with age but I see no damge of particular note and don't believe it has been repaired or restored in any material sense. I don't know the use of the box but it seems pretty obvious that it was for valuables of some sort, most likely money or something although I suppose it is possible that it was used to store articles of some type that had special value or rarity. Because I am not certain how high bidding might go, I am reluctant to include a Buy it Now option. Given the possible uncertainty of how old the piece might be, a winning bidder may return the box to me for full refund of the purchase price, with buyer paying shipping costs, however, within a reasonable period(a week or two) if a buyer concludes the box is not at least as old as 19th century.

Antique Nathaniel B. March Deerskin Covered Traveler's Trunk. Circa 1820s You are bidding on a very old antique Nathaniel B March traveler's trunk. It is covered in deerskin and brass rivets. It is in"as found" condition. The deerskin is rough and the pieces of leather that hang off the sides are rather dry. Side handles appear to be original and in good condition. Measures 24" long. 12" deep and 10" tall. The lock, which I am not sure is original or not, has been repaired at some point in the past(repairs look pretty crude and old. Original sticker is still inside, as is the paper covering. Wood seems solid and all intact but does show signs of what appear to be termite damage. Antique Primitive Pine Lift Top Trunk Painted Green Tool Chest Country Folk
Antique green lift top chest. Classic primitive or country style. It looks like it was made from pine and has a basic six-panel construction. The top is made from three framed boards with a raised piece on top. Iron side handles and a molded base. Paint looks original or at least very old. Interior has sections for holding things in the front and stepped sides to hold boxes up. There are also strips of gathered leather attached to the top that may have been for tools and a cut-out"L" shape that may have held a carpenter's square. So it seems likely that this trunk was probably a tool chest at some point. Trunk probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. Overall. This piece is in good condition, however there is obvious wear as you can see from the pictures. There also appears to be some water damage to the finish ... moreand some water stains inside the trunk lid. The H hinges and side handles both show sign of rust, but are in solid condition and sturdy. The chest stands is 18" tall and measures 34.5" long and 22" wide.
