Antique 16" Empire Miniature Chest of Drawers Empire Dresser with 7 Drawers
Offered for sale is a miniature child's toy sized empire dresser. This piece was most likely made in the early part of the 1900s. The drawer bottoms appear to be stained. They are not oxidized. The inside of each drawer is also painted, so it is hard to tell the exact age, since there is no raw exposed wood. Though, the finish on the outside has been on long enough, say 75 years to have crackled. The only way for this to happen is over time, so, we can date this piece to at least 75 years. Large high back splat. With a deck of two drawers on the top. The large top drawer underneath that has two drawers as well and then three long drawers on the bottom of the piece. The style of this is Empire. And has all the elements one would associate with that design, the overhanging large top drawer and the curved elements running down to the front ... morefeet. Including the key hole covers are original.As you can see the hardware is the icing on this cake! The original drawer locks are all in place and in excellent working order using the beautiful key I had made.The top of the dresser has incredible patina and some of the finest grain figuring you will see.The top is first class all the way. All of the drawers were totally rebuilt and slide like silk. The drawers feature the sought after dovetail joinery. I restored the finish all by hand using a custom rich stain to achieve the highlighted rich burgundy followed by many. Many coats of hand ... morerubbed varnish.When you rub your hands over the finish you will feel the superb depth and notice the beauty of the amazing maple grains. This is a"bonnet top" dresser meaning the top two drawers protrude and overhand the lower level drawers. The sides have great architectural design with the paneled construction.Like any fine antique. This piece has minor imperfections and character marks in the wood. The posts which hold the drawer handle in place are brass plated steel, some of the plating has worn off after 135 plus years.The photos show casters in the legs, they will not be included.I find they tend to split the legs.There is a knot depression on the upper left side(see photo) I think it adds character and figuring just like the top of the dresser. This old machinists or dental box was a recent estate purchase. It was found in central Illinois on a farm that was having a sale. I was told that it belonged to a cash register repair man.cool. I thought it was a medical case and hoped it was full when I picked it up.sadly I was told it only had springs and gears in it at one time. This item is 14" by 10" by 8" deep. It is leather wrapped with metal corner guards. The leather is nice with normal signs of use here and there.nothing major. The lock does not work and that area shows signs of being pried open. Description: This listing is for a 20th Century Benchmade Chippendale Style Shell Carved Block Front Chest of Drawers over Ball and Claw Feet. This is an absolutely stunning work of art with attention shown in every detail of the case. The entire case is solid mahogany. With carefully selected grains that produce a glowing fire throughout. The rim is ruled around the front and sides over a top drawer with a gallery of three carved shells over the blocked encasements below. The two outmost shells are convex, carved out of solid mahogany, each flanking the concave central shell with a keyhole in the middle. The drawer has an incredible thick facade and, uniquely, no hardware- the key is meant to act as the pull hardware, the craftsman ... morenot wanting to distract from the shell carvings by adding hardware. The three following drawers feature incredible blocking over shaped molding that flows with the outline of the chest. Each drawer is hand dovetailed at the front and back, the top drawer having a single solid board bottom, each other drawer being two board construction. The case rests over incredible hand carved ball and claw feet, each flawlessly formed with detail in every joint, muscle and stretched nail. The back two feet are carved only in the front, much in the nature of the period chests, where an absence of any mechanical device meant everything was crafted by hand- the craftsman would regularly look for ways to reduce finishing work without detracting from the overall result of the case, as our craftsman did in this chest by leaving the back of the back feet unformed. This is one of the most precise and beautiful block front reproductions we've come across. Antique Faux Mahogany Plastic Tall Chest of Drawers Magic Disappearing Coins
A vintage childs bank. You place the coin in the top drawer, the only drawer that opens, place the coin inside, close the drawer and the coin dissapears. The back of the bank has a round metal tag that is removed by removing a screw in the back. The bank is about 4 1/2" tall, about 3 3/4" across, about 2" deep. The bank is vintage plastic, caitlain or bakelite, mottled and colored to look like deep red-brown mahogony wood. It is not marked but is guaranteed to be old, circa 1920 to 1950's childrens toy. Antique Hand-painted Chest of Drawers- Mackenzie Childs Knobs. local artist has lovingly hand-painted& signed her name on the bottom of this early 1920’s American chest of drawers. The chest is tall and slim– would work well in a small bedroom. Bathroom or even in the kitchen. Measurements are 44 1/2 inches high by 28 wide. Depth is 16 inches. It is 100% wood with dovetail drawers as they always did in the old days. The artist has used Annie Sloan English chalk paint in 2 beautiful shades of blue– Provence& Napoleon& finished it with clear wax. The inside of the drawers have been freshened and painted an off-white. The top drawers are decorated with 2 Mackenzie Childs ceramic knobs– valuable in themselves. The other knobs have been hand-painted to match.

Four graduated drawers with matching flame veneered fronts. I suspect this might be walnut but may also be a brown mahogany. Bought out of Reading PA. All drawers are dovetailed& beaded. The drawers runners are worn but run smoothly. There is some small chipping to the beading. One of the balls of the right front foot has a chip. Retains its locks. Brasses are replacements. This is such a beautiful miniature chest of drawers. I bought it from France so it is likely to be french. Made in pyramid mahogany with a dark black/greyish marble top. The knobs are made of metal. I believe this to made second half 1800´s.1860-1880. Beside being beautiful it has no less than Two! hidden compartments.one at top and one at bottom. To open the one at the top. You have to open the first drawer. To be able to open the one att the bottom you have to pull out the second drawer and use a little pull mechanism hidden on the inside of the chest. Now this could be an ideal jewelry box. And to keep secret love letters in the hidden compartments. BUT. It could also be a lovely display with you french fashion dolls or french bebe´s. The front leaf removes to reveal five graduating drawers each with it's original bakerlite drawer knob. The drawers are with the original baize lining excluding the bottom drawer as has been phtotographed. Also the original baize is missing from the fall front leaf- it has been later replaced but could do with re-lining. The chest features four graduated drawers over straight bracket feet, the drawer fronts and top inlaid with boxwood stringing and a border of mahogany banding with very interesting figuring. The drawer linings are all mahogany, which was quite extravagant. The hardware is replaced but of the period and correct for the piece. The chest measures 39" high by 44" wide by 22" deep. It has four drawers and a molded top, canted corners with fluting, and straight bracket feet. It is 45" high by 43" wide by 21" deep. It does have some problems, please view all pictures carefully as we are selling this"as is" There is a chunk missing out of the second drawer and both sides/ends have splits. The top also has a split. It has an old refinish. The brasses are gorgeous and ARE 18th century, though may not original to this piece. There is evidence that there has been another type of hardware on the chest in the past. The back-plates on the brasses all match but three of the bails are different from the rest. Here is a fabulous antique American early 19th century Chippendale style footed pine blanket chest or trunk with drawers below. This delightful old trunk is 48 inches long by 21 1/2 inches front to back and 27 1/2 inches tall. The top chest is internally 44 1/2 inches long by 18 1/4 inches front to back by 15 inches deep. With a small lidded compartment 18 1/4 inches long by 5 inches wide by 4 inches deep as shown. The two lower drawers are hand dovetailed as shown in close ups and measure 20 1/4 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches front to back by 4 inches deep. Again, as stated under condition, I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, quality, construction and condition of this great antique blanket chest. As far as provenance, my consignor has owned the trunk for a number of years and remembers ... moreonly that it was acquired through an estate sale. Specifically, this is what he told me was his recollection: The story I was told is that a woman named Bessie Hicks bought the trunk while visiting Muncie Valley PA in the 1950's after WWII. She brought it back to Atlanta GA where she lived. When her estate was broken up it made it's way to Miami and then to Charleston. He added. It appears to have some minor repairs around the feet. Also some sign of blue paint under the bottom. The lock is very fascinating and secured with rose head nails. Lock and key work nicely. That's about all I remember about it. Anyway. It's appearance is consistent with early 1800's Pennsylvania work in the Chippendale style so I chose to report this information. It is certainly a lovely antique blanket chest in very nice condition.
