This chest measures 48 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 17 inches high. When opened. You are greeted with the fresh scent of natural cedar as a shelf rises up and away for easy access to the chest below. Based on the serial number. The manufacture date was April 21, 1954. I received the chest in the early-to-mid 70s and had it professionally refinished with a walnut stain in 1979. Some of the grain is slightly raised on the front(as seen in the picture) Several pictures were taken under different lighting conditions. There are a few very minor scratches. But overall it is in very good condition. IMPORTANT: As per the requirements of the Consumer Products Safety Commission. A new replacement lock has been obtained from The Lane Company and the original pushbutton removed. This item comes from a smoke-free. It is missing the leather handles, and ... moreone can see there is some wear and tear. I believe the stain on the top will come out. It has several bands of brass riveted to it. The bottom has no wheels, only wood rails. The lock has no key, and sometimes when you close it it locks up, but can easily be turned with an object that fits the hole in the lock.
