Has a rare unique ... morefeature in that the drawers swing out allowing access to the lower part. Good condition has minor cosmetic flaws to the outside of it. Also, I have no key, but all you do is twist the lock part and raise the lid. The inside is like new condition and smells strong of cedar. The original tags are still inside of it. On one tag it says that this chest contains more than the 3/4" of Red Tennessee Cedar than recommended by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Felt-lined tray for valuables and a cedar-lined interior to protect your goods from moths. The chest has a rolled front and multi-veneer face with five different veneers across the front. The top has a V-shaped design and the feet on the bottom are carved and notched. Lane Antique Vintage Art Deco Cedar Hope Blanket Chest
Original antique/vintage art deco Lane Cedar Chest. This has been in our family since 1947. It is Style# 2120. Serial# 641260. According to the Lane website, date of manufacture is coded in the serial# just reverse the numbers. So this chest was manufactured on 06/21/46. It measures approximately 48" long x 18" wide x 18" high. I have included several pictures so you can see the overall condition. There are a lot of light scratches on the lid(nothing deep) and a few more on the front and sides. There are also several small patches where the veneer has come off on the edges and one section where one of my children drew a couple of small pictures. I am not an expert on restoration. But I would think that these veneer sections could be repaired. The interior is in very good condition- no chips or scratches anywhere on the cedar ... moreplanks and the felt is intact and complete. The lid opens smoothly and closes completely. The legs are solid and are also intact. At one point. The Lane Company did issue a recall on the locks/latches of these chests so the lock will be removed. Antique Amish Cedar Chest
This cedar chest is very solid although the top has 2 cracks in it. The bottom side of the top has been glued and reinforced and is very solid. One side shows where the cedar cracked but it does not effect the integrity of the piece. I am not a dealer or an expert. I was told when we bought this chest 30 years ago it was Amish but I don't know that for a fact.It is evident it is very old and hand crafted. The original hinges have been replaced. I have never tried to remove the ring stains on the top. The lid closes and fits properly. It is obviously not a perfect piece but quite unusual and has a lot of character. I do not know the significance of the heart carving on the front or the age of the chest. It has no markings on it. I have not put any stain or poly finish on the wood. Just some furniture polish to bring out the grain.

This is a beautiful red solid cedar chest with scrolled front legs and wooden casters. It is decorated with copper plates and is in very good condition for being almost 100 yrs old.I do not know the maker but someone has told me it was a"Rice maker of the world Assoc. chest made in USA.I have seen another one just like this that had a date of 12/25/ 1916. It does have a number stamped on the bottom right of# 4551. I do not have a key for it but you might be able to get one made. The wood is very nice and still smells like cedar inside and the plating is in really good shape with no dents.this would make a good sofa table because it is nice on all sides. It has wooden handles on the sides and measures 40 in wide the inside is 17 in deep and it is about 19 in tall with the scrolled feet and weighs about 35-40 lbs.If I can answer any more ... morequestions please let me know and thanks for looking! Beautiful ANTIQUE LANE CEDAR CHEST 1951 - Waterfall Art Deco - Blanket / Hope
This is a beautiful 1951 Lane Cedar Chest. It is done in the Waterfall style. With the different kinds of wood making patterns. This chest is marked with the Lane logo on the inside of the lid along with the original paperwork, dated Oct. 1952. The bottom is marked with the style number(2592-3M) and the serial number(157150) The manufacture date is the serial number backwards, so this chest was made 5/17/51. The inside of the box on the bottom is the pressure treated mark that also says, the only tested aroma tight cedar chest in the world" This cedar chest is in wonderful condition for its age. It has been well taken care of for many years. There are only a few light scuffs and scratches on the surface and a couple little broken pieces of veneer along the top edges. pictured) The feet are even in great condition. This chest does have ... moreits original lock still installed but no key. The latch mechanism has been recalled many years ago and the original locks need to be replaced. The latches automatically latch shut when closed and children can become entrapped. I was told that Lane will replace your lock for free but I do not know if that is still true. The lock will be removed before pick up, in accord with Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice requirements. Please check the pictures carefully and use them as part of the description. I believe this was used for storing wool socks and other smaller garments from moths. I just wiped this off with a damp cloth. Leaving the final finish up to the new owner. The flaws are some scratching on the surface. Some edge splits(that could be glued) and a small chunk missing at the tip of the"foot" lid. Also. There are nail holes toward the top on each side evidencing there was a straight piece of cedar creating another section originally.but easily fixed. This cedar chest measures 32.5 long x 8 1/4 deep(not including the foot) x 7 inches high.

With all original patina and finish simply radiating from this piece. This cedar chest looks wonderful in front of a bed or would also work well as a coffee table. Antique Chinese cedar chest - overall carving
An antique Chinese cedar chest with overall carving. Of varied depth and intricacy. The carving is detailed and complex. Telling a story of life's drama. The carving is nowhere superficial. Not done to just cover a surface- not even on the back. All fields are of equal beauty and intricacy- even the handles on the front and the sides. Which are also of wood. The top of the trunk is"framed" in a shallow Greek key pattern. The vignettes depicting scenes with people are of various depth and done with sensitivity to facial and body expressions. The chest is 40x18x18 inches. The chest has a few spots where some small pieces of wood are missing. These are clearly visible in the pictures. I have not attempted any repair to them. As I do not believe that they are major.
