The bottom part of the padlock latch is attached to a modified strap hinge. The paint is chipped and chipping. There is an oil stain around the hinge of the padlock latch, someone penciled a circle on the lid*under* the handle- so the circle, apparently, is from before the handle was added.and that handle has been attached for a long time! Inside there is a tray with a hole cut out of it to accommodate some unknown tool of yester-year. The tray must have been made from an old crate as the word"GLASS" can still be seen stenciled on one board. On the outside. Below the lid, there is a thin notch, one can only wonder what function that notch was cut for. The often missing handles on the side are firmly attached with antique wood screws. Measures: 31. 15/16 inches wide- 9, 3/8 inches deep and 10, 1/2 inches tall. This box is sturdy with no loose screws. Inside the shelf is dirty, there are water stains on the bottom and inside. Antique primitive or country blanket chest with bracket feet. Simple six-board construction with an unusual half-moon cutout to create the feet at each end. The lift top is held in place by modern steel H-Hinges and a brass finished rest that keeps it from reclosing unexpectedly. Beautiful aged red wash finish. There are large iron nails holding the chest together that look like they are handmade. This piece is in good condition. Especially considering its age. There is a split to the wood near the back of the lid as well as a little bit of separation at the joints. The nails have also come out of the wood a little bit. There are what look like water marks to the finish as well, including splatter marks on one end. Featuring double locks and two levels. This beautiful Hope Chest is multi-functional and a great collectors piece! The first shelf has four felt compartments including one large area that you can strap down a blanket or anything really! The largest compartment under the first shelf is lined with thick paper with holes. This method is used to protect both the cedar and any items stored. Articles and cloths along with other items can stick to the cedar and possibly ruin both. The lining helps the cedar breath. And keeps items from attaching to the wood. The entire Chest has wood inlay around the body. And lovely carved embellishment around the edges. Along the bottom, a long gallery of turned stiles frames the chest, resting over plain bracket feet and mounted on a wheeled base. It opens to a clean interior, very broad and large. I feel pretty much sure its completely woven in silk. Has an Islamic feel to it but may not be of Eastern origin. Measures approx 180cm square. It needs cleaning as there are scattered stains etc. There are no holes to the main body but the fringe has some pulls- I think the fringe has been added later. Nice looking piece. Early Antique Jenny Lind 15Quilt/Blanket Rack ca. 1880 - Fabulous Original Paint
Description: This is a super example of a Victorian quilt or blanket rack in the Jenny Lind style with nice turnings to the uprights. The top and bottom T bars and the feet. Look at the feet. These turned“bun” feet make this a more high class model as the standard models bottom bar just sat on the floor and more contact with the floor meant more chance of dampness attacking the wood. All four feet are intact with no splits. The rack sits nicely on the floor and these racks were always used in houses throughout America. Please look at all of the pictures as they are the best way to judge the color and condition of this piece The rack measures about 29” tall by 24” long. It is 6” wide at the top racks and 10 1/2” wide at the base. The paint on it is real nice. There is an old brown paint on it but if you look at the top quilt bars you will ... moresee the paint has worn off in a few spots from rubbing showing bare wood underneath which means this is the original coat of paint. The brother of"Al Packard" who had a store on the plaza in Santa Fe. For many years, opened a store in Albuquerque in the 1970s. His name was Frank. The blanket came from his collection. This Auction is for an old Navajo saddle blanket. I bought this about 25 years ago at an estate sale and was told at that time that thye thought it was most likely late 1800's to the early part of the 1900's. It measures 20 by 40 inches and looks like it may have been made by hand as it shows unevenness in the design. The colors are red.Black, orange and beige on an oatmeal background. As you can see there is some damage at the sides which looks like the kind of wear caused by riding. I have always used it to display my Indian pots and baskets but we have moved into a smaller house and I can no longer use this. I hope someone will resore it or love it like it is. Vintage Zuni or Navajo shoulder blanket circa 1875-1885. Size: 55"x35" Colors are off white, dark brown, light brown, grey(a combination of off white& dark brown sheep's wool) and a pink/watermelon red. Condition: very good condition, several small discolorations/minor small moth holes. Overall, very good condition. untitled Antique 1920s Large Navajo Blanket Rug 67"x54" This is a really beautifully woven antique Navajo rug. The weaving is very dense. Tight and uniform throughout. I've been told that this is a Crystal Storm pattern. There is some minor fraying along the edges here and there, but overall I would characterize this blanket as 90% to 95% perfect, with the only real issue being some of the edges. I should point out that I'm not an expert on Navajo rugs, but I think the fraying here and there adds a nice antique quality to this piece. This rug measures 67.5" x 54.5" and is somewhat heavy. I thought that by keeping so many of their things after they died, it would help me keep their memory alive. After several years, I now realize that they are with me wherever I go and I don't need to have so many physical items to remind me. They said that some custard glass has a very real historical significance and commemorates special events in the history of our country or special places. When Enid, Oklahoma was in its infancy, an Indian Territory or part of the Oklahoma territory and not yet a state, it was commemorated and the items from it are highly collectible and rare. Hinged pine construction. With decorative beading around the rim and moulding around the base. Working brass lever lock and keep in the lid. With an attractive'kidney' shaped antique iron key. The lid needs a small amount of pressure to encourage the keep to make a good purchase on the lock when locking the box. But when locked it is completely secure. It measures 21" by 44" The colors are very neat together. Both ends being black then going into tan. Brown, and red strips. There are tassle like things on each corner. 2 seem to be in perfect condition while 2 have strands missing.please see pictures. The edges have a very neat sewn stitch. ANTIQUE SAFETY PIN BRASS RACK WITH HORSE BLANKET TAG PINS. WWI WWII ARMY SURPLUS PERHAPS. SIGNED COMPANY NAME IS“NATIONAL, IMPRINTED ON SOME PINS. THE PAT. DATE 02-11-1900 IS IMPRINTED ON SOME OTHER PINS. The rack is made of a brass sheet(Reinforcement was added at a later time and a few solder joints have come loose.But the the rack still hangs firm. I presume the reinforcement was added for display. There are 6 large 5” pins on each side. There are 20 slots for the 2” pins at the bottom; one small pin is missing so there are only 19 pins. All appear to be excellent condition. I examined the rack closely and removed only a few pins but I did not observe any damage and I would presume all are in working order. Only a few pins have remnants of what was probably a nickel plating. The patina is dark in some places, pewter in others, and and ... morevaries to a polished brass at the tips of some pins. Overall the coloring is wonderful. Each pin has the# 80 imprinted on the tip along with two letters. The letters match up each pin with there place on the rack and we might assume that this rack is#80. The two inch pins are rare and to find a full rack of pins this complete is very rare and maybe museum quality. My best guess is that this set came from the military. For one reason the high number of pins involved and two the organizational skills necessary for their maintenance. If military. These pins came from the U.S Calvary during World War I or even World War II but within that era for sure because of the PAT. Date of 02-11-1900. Nevertheless these pins were also utilized for laundry tags and popular as key tags as well. However, in the Midwest most private laundries, within this time frame, were small and would not have required the number of pins in this grouping, which brings us back to the U.S. Military as the original owner. This auction is for a Fantastic Antique Mexican Saltillo Serape/ Rio Grande Blanket Rug With A Vallero Star as the focal point. It is a very early weaving preceding the rainbow serape period. Circa Last quarter of 19th Century. Unfortunately none of the images show the quality of weave and wool. Never the less it is of very fine weave and high quality hand spun wool. You have to have it in your hand to feel the fineness and quality. Fineness and quality is much like a Late Classic Serape It measures 41 inches by 88 inches. It is in excellent condition with very little surface only moth nibble( where the pile is in place and the very at surface nibble has revealed the unfaded wool) This is no issue at all as with very little sun exposure it will become invisible. Which is a few inches long) There's no tag on the this item. It feels like a heavy wool and it has rich red, tans& yellow hues. The tassles are only on one side. It has leather on the right& left. On one side of the blanket. If the tassles weren't there, I would think this was a small rug. The leather shows wear consistent with age and usage. ANTIQUE NAVAJO WEAVING RUG BLANKET STORM PATTERN GANADO NAVAHO DINE
A lovely storm pattern weaving ca. 1935 from the Ganado area of the Navajo Reservation. Measures 60 x 38. Lays flat. The corners are very slightly frayed. No moth bites or holes; there are two minor separations of the weft. And some very minor bleeding of the red dye as seen in the images. Overall in fabulous condition. The item is guaranteed authentic and has been in my collection for at least 40 years. I acquired it at an estate auction in Santa Fe. I accept returns and will pay the return postage if I have misrepresented the item. RARE Sigma Chi Greek Fraternity Antique Vintage Wool Blanket/Stadium Throw-NICE!
This is a very RARE Sigma Chi blanket! It appears to be made of 100% wool and is outlined in a beautiful gold stitching. The insignia appears to be printed on(it's not stitched) It has the wording. In Hoc Vinces Signo" which is Latin for, In This Sign You will Conquer. It has the Sigma Chi Eagle. Key, Scroll, Norman Shield, and Cross. Notice anything missing? Like maybe the Sigma Chi or"EX" I am selling this for a guy who was a Sigma Chi himself. He said that in the 1920's to the 1930's there was essentially a ban on fraternities because they were thought to be secret societies that exhibited cult-like behavior. I'm paraphrasing here) So even though many of the fraternities still carried on- they did so"underground" to an extent. As a result of the ban and their efforts to hide- they couldn't put ... moretheir fraternity name on anything. He said this blanket is from that era. Since I know absolutely nothing about fraternities or sororities- I am not able to confirm this. But I wanted to be sure to pass along the info. I was provided. I'd love to hear from anyone who can speak to this bit of history. It certainly makes the blanket all the more fascinating. The blanket is in VERY GOOD condition. It does have a little bit of fading around the eagle and top part of the shield. But it is MUCH worse in the pictures(due to the lighting and camera flash) than it is in person. To be honest- I never even noticed any fading of the gray background of the blanket until I took the picture. I had only noticed some light fading of the gold insignia around the eagle. So it really doesn't show in person near like it does in the picture. It appears the blanket may have been displayed with that section showing and that probably caused the subtle fading. I see no flaws to make mention of such as rips. Tears or holes and there is very little pilling which is unusual for a wool blanket of this age. I might also mention it does not smell of smoke or mothballs or anything else unpleasant. The

The founder of the Flight 93 Chapel, in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania Unsure of its age or origin. For sale is a very rare 19th c buffalo hide robe or blanket or rug. This is the real antique deal! As opposed to 99% of the new hides on e bay. The buffalo hide has a felt backing which is basted on with thick thread. It measures approx. 82 inches long by 80 inches at the widest point. The hide has several bare spots.
