Aksel HOLMSEN Sterling + Yellow Guilloche Enamel Ring~NORWAY~Vintage Norwegian In an appealing shade of buttery lemon yellow and a striking geometric form. This beautiful sterling and guilloche´ enamel ring is by Aksel Holmsen of Sandefjord, Norway. Although smaller and less well known than other Norwegian makers, like David-Andersen, Holmsen's company was one of the leading proponents of Scandinavian jewelry design in the 1950s-60s. Looking at this ring, you can certainly see why! The concentric geometric patterns under the enamel echo the triangular/diamond shape of the ring. Conveying motion and depth with movement in the play of light. The shade of yellow is much richer than it appears in the poor photos, which seem to have washed out the color but hopefully give an idea of the overall effect. The face measures about 5/8" ... morein its largest dimension. Tapering to a 1/8" shank. It is presently about a size 6-1/2 but can be gently adjusted smaller or larger, due to the crossover design. The ring is signed on the inside of the shank"Made in Norway Sterling" followed by bench tools that look like X's lying on their sides. Which is the mark of Aksel Holmsen, as well as"925S" Please see the penultimate photo for a close-up of the signature. It is in Very Good/ Excellent vintage condition with no damage; just expected surface dirt and light scratches. There are also the usual slight manufacturing flaws. Including a couple black spots you can see in the greatly enlarged photos. Nothing of consequence. The ring has a lovely vintage patina with expected light tarnish; cleaning and polishing are left to the buyer's discretion. This ring is not just wearable; it is a work of Art- perfect for anyone who collects Scandinavian silver. Modernist design, enamel and of course, jewelry. It is versatile and because it lays fairly flat against the finger, easy to wear. This is a boxed set of guilloche enamel sterling silver espresso coffee spoons from Tillander. They're in very good condition. Please see photos for details. Measures 3 15/16" long and they weigh approximately 12.9 grams each A. TILLANDER(1860-PRESENT) The Finnish company. A.Tillander was founded by Alexander Tillander who, as a young boy at the age 11, was sent out to go and take up an apprenticeship at a barber in St-Petersburg. Things didn't go as expected and he ended up at a Finnish master goldsmith's workshop instead. After 7 years as an apprentice, Alexander started working for a German master named Carl Becks who was a supplier for the Russian Imperial court. In 1860. At the age of 23, Alexander started for himself in St Petersburg. Working hard, his business evolved into a successful company renowned for its quality ... moreworkmanship. Following the trends of the time Tillander produced a lot of classical revival jewelry featuring filigree and granulation over the 1870's and did well with objects d'art made of precious materials. In 1891. Alexander's son, Alexander Jr. returned from a three year journey which had led him through three different European master jewelers and gained him the position of representative of a Parisian manufacturer of diamond jewelry. Doing well for himself he became a part of the family business which he expanded with an export business of the now very popular Russian gemstone, demantoid, as well as by opening up a new branch of the business which bought and sold second-hand jewelry. At the beginning of the 20th century he ran the entire operation by himself and business was booming. The first Russian Revolution in 1905 didn't affect the business too adversely and up until 1916 the company kept its head well clear of the water line. The overall misery of the first World War followed by the Bolshevik Revolution finally took its toll however. As it did for every other Russian jewelry manufacturer. Lids are sterling silver with a gilt or gold wash. Tops have a nice cranberry red guilloche or engine turned enamel. The side edge of the lids are both marked Sterling 925S Norway along with the Olso silversmiths Hroar Prydz maker's mark. The set is in good condition. The salt shaker lid has some slight tarnish or corrosion from salt mostly on the inner surface. The enamel on both the salt and pepper lids are damage free. Cut glass edges have a few tiny flea bite chips and one of the shakers has a chip on lower bottom side edge. See last photo. Glass is nice and clear without any water stains. These are 6 beautifully crafted Sterling Silver Guilloche Enamel Demitasse Spoons by Jacob Tostrup of Norway. The translucent enamel shows the underlying design and the pattern is known as"Kronesolv" with its art deco style terminal. Each spoon is 10 cm(3 7/8 inches) long. The bowls are 3 cm by 2 cm.They are in very nice condition with the exception of a visible chip in the small end of the red enamel. Three others have hairline cracks in the small end of the enamel that is not immediately noticeable. The cobalt and white spoons are in excellent condition. It measures about 1 3/4" tall and it is in excellent condition with the exception of needing to be polished. No dents dings or chips. It weighs about 22 grams. There is a yellow enamel bow and the pin is located on the back. There is no serial number on the clock. The overall length is almost 2-1/2” long. The bow is 1” long. The clock/enamel back is 7/8” in diameter. The clock(face and works) is the only thing marked. It says. Mercury/Swiss Made/ 17 Jewels. The clock does not run! And is being sold as is. The guilloche is in very good estate condition. There is corrosion to the face of the clock and the inside of the crystal dome. The enamel on the box is chipped. Up for auction is a wonderful vintage signed Aksel Holmsen enamel tie bar or clip. The scene is MIDNATSOL at NORDKAP(Midnight sun at North Cape) in Norway on the North Sea. Guilloche engine turned designs are etched into the silver under the enamel and have a wonderful effect. Great condition no chips to the enamel. The silver has tarnish-I did not clean this. His workshop was founded in 1932 in Sandefjord Norway and the"tools" mark was used until 1969. This is signed"830S" and the"Crossed Pliers" mark. The enamel piece measures 7/8" inch wide x 1/2" inch high and the bar is 2 1/8" inch across.

Decorated with blue guilloche enamel, the metal beneath is engine-turned engraved with a radiating design, which shows through from beneath the transparent enamel. The guilloche enamel is decorated onto nickel silver. The brush has natural bristles inset into wood within the handle. This clothes brush measures 15.0 cm in length and 3.2 cm in width. This is a lovely silver round box with a slightly domed lid with a superb hand painted enamel scene of a wide river with fields and trees to the background and four cows grazing on the river bank. The box has straight sides with blue-green guilloche enamel bands. The underside of the box is engine turned. The lid is hinged and the inside of the box is gilded. The box is 2-3/8 inches/ 60 mm in diametre and it stands 1/2 inch/ 12 mm high. The box weighs 59 grams. The inside of the box has a full set of London import marks for 1927(letter M) and sponsor's mark HCF for H C Freeman. The silver is in excellent condition with no dents. The enamel lid ... moreis without chips. Cracks or damage. There is loss to the blue-green enamel bands around the side of the box, mainly around the hinge at the back. See pictures. A very fine quality Norwegian sterling silver brooch. It is hallmarked with the 925S standard mark and the maker’s mark of Nils Erik Elvik of Oslo(1853-1935) I would date this piece to c1930. It has been beautifully made being decorated with an enameled scene of a viking ship. It is in perfect condition being free from chips. Splits, and repairs. It has not been cleaned but for some toothpaste to the back to show the marks. It measures 2 inches(5cms) long. A beautifully designed desirable little piece.

Vintage Jose Frederico Guilloche Enamel on Sterling SIlver Sleeping Man Pin 1.5"
For auction is a vintage. Guilloche enamel on sterling silver, figural pin made in Mexico by Jose Frederico. The pin shows a sleeping man with sombrero next to a cactus plant. The pin is 1 1/2 inches tall and 1 3/8 inches wide at its widest. It weighs 5.4 grams. It has a pin stem and safety catch in place on the back that work as intended. It is marked with a circle mark that reads MADE IN MEXICO STERLING. Below that it is marked 925 and above that with the maker's mark for Frederico-a conjoined J and F. There are a few tiny areas at the corners of the channels where there is a bit of enamel loss and one small area at the bottom of the hat rim where there is a reddish spot of stain.
