Large silver plated medal made in commemoration of London surviving the aerial assaults of W.W.II. They were manufactured after the war by the medallists, Pinches of London" and were sold to raise money for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. The front of this attractive medal is decorated with the image of flames surrounding St. Paul's Cathedral and an enemy aircraft caught in searchlight beams. Surrounding this is the text"Battle of London- Sept. 1940- 1941 May" The reverse bears the image of the Tower of London with a German V.1. flying bomb overhead. This is surrounded by the caption. I have for sale the official commemorative medal for the XI Olympic games that was held in Berlin. Germany. The medal is bronze, it is 1 71/6 inch in diameter and in AU condition but it has a gunk covered surface and a thin scratch on the reverse from the s in des to the female. The medalist was Karl Roth and it was made at the Murrich mint. It comes with the original box that has no damage. On the obverse it shows a bell in the center with an eagle and rings below the eagle. In German on the bell it reads I CALL THE YOUTH OF THE WORLD. Around the rim in German it reads OLYMPISCHE SPIELE BERLIN MCMXXXVI. The reverse shows a standing Victory with laurel branch and crown. On the rim it reads BAYER HAUPTMUNZAMT. WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN WIDOW'S MEDAL, DOG TAG, PHOTOS, ALL OF GERMAN WAR DEAD GROUP
This is a grouping of photos. A Next of Kin Hindenburg Cross to the family of a soldier who died in the War, and a half dog tag of a German soldier from WWI. The photos are very sad. One is of a headstone, with a black wreath, clearly inscribed to a dead German soldier. The other ywo photos are of dead German soldiers in the field. In both photos their helmets and other pieces of gear and uniform are clearly visible. The dog tag is the half that would have been left on the body, as the medic or officer would break off and take the other half. All the items are in very good shape or better, although the center photo is creased. Everything in this grouping is complete and original to the best of my knowledge. This grouping is from the amazing collection of my late friend. Patrick Gariepy. He passed away in August, and I have been asked to help ... moredisperse his magnificent collection. Pat was particularly well known as an authority on Gallipoli, and his book on Gallipoli will be coming out next year. Payment is expected within three days of close of auction.
