Up for offer is a gorgeous. 1920's original flapper dress from one of our family member's closet! This lady lived to be 103(1887-1990) and loved extravagant clothing. Travel, the arts and collecting postcards and other treasures. She was highly educated and remained single her whole life, and live she did! Either herself, one of her two sisters or her mother was a wonderful home seamstress as this dress for offer was hand made. There are scraps of the same fabric in the sewing basket to indicate this. This stunning Navy Blue with gold accents long dress consists of a gauzy/sheer embellished net overlay dress with a separate solid navy slip of very soft/silky material(it feels like some sort of acetate fabric. A lightweight pale sage green silk with a nice luster, with embroidered designs in a darker green silk. Hand beaded with tiny white glass seed beads. The hem is a fabulous Art Deco Flapper silhouette of a zig-zag pointed hem. The large beaded designs, 10 in all, go all the way around front and back, with only a single seam in back. This was removed from a dress, which had a plain white silk bodice. The top edge, or the waist, is still intact and shows tiny hand stitches with lovely smocking tat gives the skirt a bit of fullness. I show lots of photos below. Has a lovely weighty drape. 1920s French Early Plastic/ Bakelite? Bracelet with Inlaid Pastes & Silver Studs
French Art Deco early plastic bangle bracelet with inlaid pastes and silver studs. Circa 1920. The bracelet is marbled amber in colour. The material is probably Galalith, but may be Bakelite. All pastes are present but most of the silver studs have been lost. The band is 0.8cm wide and the bracelet has an internal diameter of 7.2cm. It can be worn at the wrist or on a slender upper arm. The bracelet weighs 15.1gs. There is wear to the bracelet compatible with age. I have photographed the bracelet beside a 1920s Galalith cicada brooch with similar inlaid pastes and studs(page 206. Rare Pate De Verre Art Deco Ceiling Light With Original Suspension. This stunning authentic French chandelier/ceiling light exudes timeless Art Deco sophistication. Dating from the mid 1920s it is in wonderful condition and full working order. The frame is nickel plated and the ceiling rose is decorated with a beautiful three dimensional sunburst motif. The wonderful opaque silver grey coloured glass shade is made from pate de verre(French hand molded glass) a nd has been produced in a vasque design. The vasque is a fusion of opaque and clear glass with a stunning geometric raised dimple pattern. Culminating at the base of the vasque, all of which is typically Art Deco.
