The pictures don't do this piece justice. Its a French comb in the shape of a shamrock. ART DECO OR NOUEVAU FROM THE 1930S 0R EARLIER. Rhinestone are all there and sparkle way more in person and a jeweler I took this too said the are set in the same way old diamonds were and said it was a great piece. I am not a jeweler nor am I a pro but I have seen these go for a ton. The jeweler said it looks like silver I had acid tested its surface for gold and it tested positive for 14k but I have no idea if that is on the surface although it seems solid. I have a feeling it may be a mystery metal. I think I would have paid way more if it was in fact solid white gold. Unsigned, would have been made by one of a number of high quality glass manufacturers that thrived in France prior to the 2nd World War. It is crisply moulded with panels and chevrons in frosted glass and is unusually deep. The original ceiling shade is offered with a brand new silk cord fixture which is fully wired and ready to suspend and be fitted with a standard screw bulb. Optionally. The shade can be sold on its own, without the corded fitting, in which case I will deduct £30 from the final invoice. Antique French silk ribbon rosette & lace chaise cover 1920s
From the 1920s a beautiful cloque silk& silk satin chaise cover/throw(blanket) One side is ivory cloque silk(puckerd weave silk) trimmed with large silk ribbon rosettes with green silk ribbon stems approx. 85 large roses. The throw has light padding inside, the reverse is ivory silk satin and is trimmed with tiny ribbon roses and greenery, there is a deep ruffle band of ecru lace around the throw. This is a beautiful romantic piece and in excellent sound condition, no fraying, no cracking to the silk, no holes or repairs. There are some stains, the largest is pictured. This has not been cleaned, cleaning or possibly hand washing may lighten the spots. There are approx. 85 large roses on one side and many many tiny roses on the other. This is a old Saigon Silver Necklace with a Dragon on one side and Written Characters on the others. We have been told that these are few and far between as many of them were melted down in order to'forget' that time period in Vietnam's History when the French Occupied. It was given as some sort of Honorable Token or Recognition. The French were expelled in 1956 and this is thought to be popular 1920 to 1930. It is not marked Sterling but is Sterling. Altar Of The Mission MARY'S IGLOO Alaska USA Postcard During the gold prospecting period of the early 1900s. Non-Natives named the village"Mary's Igloo, after an Inupiat woman named Mary, who welcomed miners, trappers and others into her home for coffee. During that period, Mary's Igloo was a transfer point for supplies for the gold fields upriver on the Kuzitrin and Kougarok rivers. The supplies were offloaded from ocean boats onto barges, which were towed to their destinations. A post office and store were opened at Mary's Igloo in 1901. By 1910, Mary's Igloo was a large community of Inupiat and Anglo-Americans, who were miners, innkeepers, missionaries and support crews for the barges. It had schools, a post office and other services.The flu epidemic of 1918 and 1919 and a tuberculosis epidemic, two years later, ... moredecimated the community's population. Catholic and Lutheran orphanages opened in the area to care for children left without parents.The schools closed in 1948 and 1950 for lack of students and the post office and store also closed in 1952. Vintage French Houbigant brass rouge compact 1920s or earlier, burr top insert
A fascinating early 20th century French brass rouge compact by famous French maker"Houbigant" Marked both around the case and under the insert, where it is also stamped with a number. The compact is in very worn condition as can be seen from the photos. But still has traces of rouge inside. The mirror is in good condition. The catch, which is, unusually, offset, still works and the hinge is in good working order. The base is engine-turned and the top has an insert which is either a very thin piece of veneered wood or more likely a card insert made to resemble burr elm or walnut. This was obviously part of the Houbigant range as I have a powder compact in the same material(see my other items for sale) Around the edge of the compact is"Houbigant, France" and this is also under the powder insert with a number as well. Houbigant ... morestarted production in 1775. And is the oldest operating French fragrance house. Jean-Francois Houbigant, the founder of the company based in Paris in Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, taught the ladies at the court of Versailles ways to perfume their fans to send out enticing messages. It is said Marie Antoinette carried Houbigant perfume with her to her execution to give her strength. Titled ladies across Europe became fans of the fragrances and in the 1880s the company moved to Neuilly sur Seine. Since its launch Houbigant has made huge changes in the formulation of perfumes culminating in the variations of fragrances used today. The little rouge compact measures 3.5 cm across(just under 1 3/8th ins) Depth 8 mm(just under 3/8th inch) an interesting item to add to a collection.

Here is a rare Terre de Retz Art Deco Powder Box Made in France 1920's Woman Tennis Player. The piece is in very fine condition with great detail and hand painting to the woman Tennis player. The piece has no chips or cracks to the figure. The piece is well marked with Made in France Terre de Retz in the interior of the lid of the piece. The base of the piece has a crack in the interior that does not go through to the bottom of the piece. The base piece is marked on bottom Bte B G and Made in France. It measures 6 inches tall and about 4 inches wide. These Terre de Retz pieces are rare to see complete and in such fine condition as they are very fragile and served as a piece that might be used by its owner everyday. Overall an exceptional fine condition example of this type of Art Deco French Powder Box. Some isolated areas of minor paint ... moreloss- hair and head band. True Vintage French Art Deco JHP 1920s Galaith & Brass Classic Seahorse Bracelet
Yup. This is a real one. While this bracelet is not marked JHP(the earlier ones weren't, I believe) it does have MADE IN FRANCE as well as what is a patent or registry number on the clasp. It says P TE(this is run-together in a superscript and there is a line under it) S.G.D.6(the 6 could be a G) I have listed it absurdly low. Just to see what will happen(I live in Canada and it's still snowing here. have to do something for entertainment) The bracelet is all brass with black galaith under the seahorses. One of the galaith panels has a minor bit of chip damage to the top, but the panel is intact. There is one screw on a back panel that is not original to the bracelet(it's not brass) but it could easily be replaced. I'm not going to go into other detail. Because the collectors who like these bracelets know all about them. I ... morehaven't cleaned this bracelet.
