Important Bodhisattva Carved Polychrome Wood Ming Dynasty(1368- 1644) Shown seated in dhyanasana on a rock-shaped base. Wearing a robe tied at the waist, a flowing shawl placed on the shoulders, adorned with a detailed necklace and bracelets, a tiara adorned with scrolling designs in a high stylized bun, the hands should be held in dhyana and abhaya mudra but one hand is missing. Condition: Both feet have had restoration work. There is some cracking due to age and dryness. There is a crack on both sides of the draped fabric. There are losses and wear to the carving. This carving and artistic style is very similar to the carvings from Song. Jin and Liao Dynasties. I have not had the carving radio carbon dated for a few reasons. You need to select an area that has not had restorations.
