Vintage Pre WWII Merriman Brothers. Boston, rare over-sized bronze and ash block pulley, with both sides having a 2" diameter bronze Trident mark. Seller not a collector or knowledgeable on this subject. All four sides have 4 bronze pegs, each measuring 1/4" diameter. The top iron hardware loop is 3"H X 2"W X 3/8" thick. The block itself measures 14" X 10 1/2" X 5" thick. The bronze middle pulley part measures 1 1/2"W. Weight 29lbs. Original finish wood patina. Although it does have an old split in the wood, on one side, this item is in good solid, functional, or decorative condition. 12 photos to view. SPODE'S BLUE TOWER 17" PLATTER (Older Mark) VINTAGE TRANSFERWARE
Up for auction is a rare platter in the blue SPODE'S TOWER pattern. Made by Copeland from 1920ies to the 1950ies(first introduced in 1814) The platter is in very good condition and looks rarely used. The surface is shiny and bright. The transfer pattern is in a strong blue color, depicting the Bridge of Salerno in the center with a floral border and a Gadrooned edge. The oval platter measures 17 inches in length. 13 1/4 inches in width and 1 5/8 inches in height. There are a few utensil marks in the center, only visible when the platter is held at an angle and two pinhead size rough spots on the outer right edge(possibly from a former hanger; see the last two pictures) There are no cracks, chips, crazing or staining. The platter is marked with the older blue stamp: Copeland- Spode's Tower- England. It has an additional impressed date ... morestamp and the Imperial mark. This piece would make a great addition to your blue transferware collection or your dinner table. The platter is part of a lot of pink. Offering this stunning Gallé azalée cameo glass vase standing a full 44 cm(about 17-1/2" tall. The ground body is a thick frosted glass internally suffused with coloring hints of palest yellow-peach. The cameo overlay is in muted daylily orange. The motif is of hypnotic azaleas. The flowers which traditionally implore a loved one to“take care of yourself, for me” The exquisite representation of nature captured eternally in beautiful glassware was mastered by Émile Gallé like no other prior to his emergence as an artisan in Nancy, France and by none since. This beautiful vase reverently carries his Star“signature” mark, which was added by Gallé’s widow at his death and used with few exceptions only for two years, between 1904 and 1906, giving us a firm production time just after the turn of the prior century. ... moreThis vase is a perfect representation of Art Nouveau’s harmonization of nature in design. There is no bad angle to showcase this work. I love the weight and smoothness of this glass. It’s tactile. It feels“cool” to the touch. True art is an experience, and this vase well represents that. Condition: those who have purchased from me in the past know what a stickler I am for details and I will always be ruthless in pointing out flaws in the items I offer for sale. This 110-year old vase has survived quite well with only minimal flaws. Which I have done my best to show in the last two photos. There is some minimal scuffing which can be seen on one of the flowers in the overlay. There is no roughness or to either the mouth of the vase or to the edge of the round foot. There is very minor scuffing to the base, which has a smoothed pontil. I have photographed the base and this wear is less than normal expectations but mentioned for accuracy. On the foot there are a couple of indent lines which formed during the glass-making process, these are shown in the photo that also includes the Gallé mark. I do NOT consider these to be flaws.
