ANTIQUE MANDOLIN UNUSUAL 10 STRING MUSICAL INSTRUMENT
A lovely old Mandolin which is unusual in so much as it has 10 strings in a 3 3 2 2 configuration(I was told this by a Folk Art Mandolin Player who came in my shop! It has a flower decorated back and lovely little wooden tuning key handles. It is in need of restoration. There is beading missing on the front and back and one of the little mother of pearl dots is missing too. It would need new strings and a total clean up but I think it would be worth it to do it. Unusual Native American Indian ? Necklace carved Coral ? Gold ? Silver Beads ?
Not exactly sure what origin. This necklace appears to be hand carved either coral or ox bone. Hand made with red and blue turquoise as well as possibly copper or brass. Maybe 10k and sterling as well. I did acid test and the gold holds as 10k copper goes away) Please pardon me on my description as to identifying this. Some of the beads center inlays are damaged and missing. These are on a Very old Hand Dyed Cotton type rope. It looks like leather tassels were added years later and the silver beads are very unusual. Please feel free to ask away any questions on this. This appears to be very old and from some sort of tribe from years gone by. Please see pictures for further identity. I bought a jewelry jar last week and this was in it. I don’t see a manufacturer listed on the tap but it dates to the 1940s. The usual part of this tap is the metal band on the backside of the tap– I’ve never seen another tap with this design feature before. LOVELY ONE- OF-A- KIND three inch PAPERWEIGHT with gold roping and tinted interior shading from green at the bottom and rose at the top. Much like watermelon. When light passes through it, it glows green and red! This one is unsigned. Base is ground and polished. There is a small pinch-off mark at the very top. It is white ironstone and it was embossed with a decoration that looks like some sort of small flowers and leaves that resemble blooming strawberry plants. The tureen is octagonal shaped. Has curled handles and a pedestal base. The lid is topped with some sort of fruit and embossed with the same floral decoration as the bottom half; it also has an opening for a ladle. Excellent quality manufacture but I don't know where it was made or by whom. Circa mid 19th century. Measures about 7 inches handle to handle and stands around 7 3/4 inches high. Antique leather holster 1001 for pistol unusual tapered brass knobs
Only fair shape to good. A leather holster, I find only a number 1001, and I find it rather puzzling. The barrel hole is tapered on both sides as if the barrel is not at the top of the gun frame but more in the center or slightly high. Maybe a shoulder holster? But it also has a long brass snap knob on both sides. 8.3" tall, 4.2" wide at the top. Curious to know what it might be for if you recognize it. I listed another one just like it, missing the number and the flaps, in a different category, they must be for the same pistol. I will be listing several holsters this week. Unusual Vintage Micmac Indian Twisty Ash Basket Woven Around an Old Coke Bottle
Up for auction is a beautiful and unusual woven splint ash Indian basket. It was woven around one of the classic old curvy 8-ounce Coke bottles to make a vase to hold flowers. And because of the glass, they could even be fresh flowers. The basket was woven by a talented weaver of the Micmac tribe from the Northeast- these twists and fine construction are a hallmark of this tribe. The basket has terrific details- check out the classic round Coke bottle shape, the double row of tight twists tinted red, and the additional bands of red dyes on the sided. The sides also have a few narrow strands of sweetgrass as accents. A very nice and unusual vintage basket! The basket measures 8" tall and 2½" across at the base. This beautiful basket is in really outstanding condition for its age. Which I estimate to be from the first half of ... morethe last century. Vintage PENOBSCOT Native American Maine UNUSUAL Rare Style Basket EXCELLENT
This is a vintage/antique Native American lidded basket. It was woven of ash by the Penobscot Indians of Maine before 1934. It is unusual to find this style. Size and condition. The weaving is what my grandmother used to call the folded postage stamp as it looks like little folded triangular squares. I have not see many of these and none on e-bay in a long time. It measures 8" by 8" square. The condition is very nice. The inside is nice and clean and I see only one minor ash split. A really nice basket for any Native American collection. For sale is a unusual. Rare and unique trail map holder from Ohio's memorial trails. I'm pretty sure this piece is from the 1920s if not earlier. This is made of metal with two predrilled holes at the top to hang. The piece reads: Take one of these interesting maps of Ohio's memorial trails home with you with our compliments. This item was part of the large find of items that have been in an office building for the last 70+ years setting and waiting to be discovered. This piece is authentic and original and I doubt was ever used. Well now you have seen it all. I am not even sure what this is but I found it with a bunch of dog stuff so I think it is x-rays of a dog paws. It is one sheet approximately 8" X 10" with the four x-rays on it. I really don't know what else to say about this. And I hope you check the pictures. You will see some marks and fingerprints on it. Set Of 8 Antique Mason's Ironstone 9" Plates - Crown Mark - Unusual Motif
Featuring a beautiful and rare set of eight(8) antique Mason's ironstone 9" plates. The overall condition of these plates is excellent. One plate has a small rim flake and a couple of chips on the back rim(see pic) Another has a chip on the back rim as well. No other significant chips. Cracks or repairs. There is the typical edge wear to the trim. Marked on the back with the standard black printed mark- angular crown. I believe the manufacturing date range is circa 1830-1848. One of the plates has the hand applied number"2240" All of these plates also have sagger pin decoration. This pattern is shown on p.163 of Godden's"Mason's China and The Ironstone Wares" copyright 1984(reprint) The pattern has no name that I can find- it is described as"unusual" I think the decorating technique is a combination ... moreof transfer and hand-painted work. Variation on the Imari style featuring a central urn with a geisha-type figure in the middle surrounded by what look like gifts. The borders are made up of a cobalt and red floral motif. Unusual pottery vase / wine bottle cooler! Gorgeous leaf impressions!
This is a really lovely pottery vase made by a local potter. His name is Troup and you will see his signature on the bottom of the vase in one of my pictures. It is not new. But it has no cracks or chips of any kind. He has used real maple leaves to make imprints all over the piece and his glaze runs down from the tips of the leaves. The main color is a bluish gray. But the leaves have some brown in them and where the glaze runs it almost looks greenish-blue. The piece can be used in multiple ways: As a vase As a wine bottle chiller( I would keep it in the freezer to chill it and then it holds most standard bottles of wine to keep them cold- just not the ones bigger around like champagne bottles) It is 8 inches tall and the opening is 4 inches across. The inner part is almost 3.5 inches across.
